Small, comfortable hotel. Clean, good location, friendly staff. Ask for a room on the upper floor as ground floor rooms get little light. Also, don't trust restaurant recommendations - not v good.

This is a good economy hotel. Do not expect luxury but expect a clean room with average service. The staff will accomodate and help you with your day to day requests. Breakfast is simple and basic but good. The owner took me down to the church underneath the hotel so pls ask. Quite solid walls. It has an excellent location...

Can't beat the location -- about two blocks from the Aya Sofia, another block to the Blue Mosque, on a quiet side-street. You can see the Aya Sofia directly from the rooftop deck. Rooms are clean, management and staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Ask the manager to show you the 3rd Century church under the hotel building...

We stayed here for almost a week. The location is great for getting around and everything is very clean. Rooms have an okay size which is not obvious in this city and are freshly renovated. The staff is very friendly which is not necessarily the case for the owner. He became extremely unfriendly when I enquired about longer stay discounts...

This hotel is in the old section of Istanbul and close to all the sights, very convenient. HOWEVER, the room was extremely small and it's even difficult to turn around in the bathroom. (I am only 5'8" and 150#). Breakfast was very basic and nothing exciting at all. It is clean, however. I did not find the room very comfortable...

Clean, friendly, great location, but just not a 5. We had a really nice stay there, but there is nothing that sets it apart from many other places we stayed for a similar price, not to say I wouldn't recommend it, it's just not a 5. One thing that wasn't so great was how thin the walls seemed to be....

The Zeynep Sultan was everything the TripAdvisor promised and more. We were there on the first and second day of Ramadan and the call to prayer was amazing to watch from the rooftop. Abraham made us coffee and drew us maps of must see places to visit and eat. That is what made the place extra special to us. Sultan,...

Wonderful little hotel very close to the Haghia Sophia and the amazing Palace. Most importantly, the owner is extremely helpful - make sure he shows you the 3rd Century church in the basement!

The Zeynep Sultan is a small hotel on a quiet pedestrian street, just steps from all the major sights. It had everything we were looking for on our second visit to Istanbul: good location, quiet street, cleanliness, good breakfast, airport transfers, friendly and attentive staff, and personalized attention. The highlights of our stay included breakfast and drinks on the beatiful...

Perfectly located for exploring the best sights of the Old City, this little hotel is an absolute gem! Within easy walking distance of the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Istanbul Archaeological Museum and Grand Bazaar, it offers clean, modern accommodation at an excellent price. Staff were extremely helpful and spoke perfect English. The young guy on the reception desk...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The cradle of civilization...Turkey...From Hitites to Urartus, Phrygians to Lycians, from Romans to Seljuks...They all lived here. A city that gave birth to and fostered three glorious empires...The East Roman empire, the Byzantine empire and the Ottoman empire...Once the capital city of these empires, Istanbul is still alive and breathing a mystical blend of air, weary of the contemprary urbanization and cultural clashes. Zeynep Sultan Hotel is where you will blend a magical potion from a Roman hippodrome, an Egyptian obelisque, a Byzantine Church and an Ottoman Grand Bazaar. And maybe you will top it with the Blue Mosque or the Topkapi Palace... ... more   less
