I spent two weeks at Amiral Palace and was impressed the whole time. The hotel is clean and the staff are courteous and friendly. My friend and I could walk to most of the locations in the Sultenhamet area of Old Town. Breakfast was part of the hotel fee, but complimentary tea was often served to us in the evening....

I met my brother and his family who had travelled from Canada and myself from UK. We were both in transit in Istambul and were looking for a reasonable hotel. The hotel was booked by our agent in Canada. On my arrival I had to pay for the transportation from the airport although the website says it is free for...

We stayed here on the beginning and end of our tour of Turkey. The location is nice. Just below the Blue Mosque. You can see that from the rooftop dining area. That is a nice place to sit on the evening. Just a block away from a street full of restaurants. Walking distance from the Sultanahmet tram station. Front desk...

This was our first time in Istanbul, and we had an unforgettable and pleasing experience. The hotel is located in a very nice area, close to all major sites, many restaurants and shops are all around the area. The hotel staff is warm and welcoming , they treated us like family. The staff attended to every question and need, given us...

Stayed here for 3 nights at the beginning of a minibus tour. The hotel was chosen by the tour company---Neon tours---excellent company. The room, although fine, overlooked the dining room with appropriate but weird screenings between. I would not recommend staying on this floor. No view and it's hard to figure out lwhere you are when you first walk in....

This is a great hotel in a great location in the old city portion of Istanbul. Very close to the Topkapi Palace and walking to the Grand Bazaar and the spice market. Staff was very attentive and helpful. I was traveling with a group of 14 and those who did not find their accomodations to be exactly as needed were...

My son and I just returned from an 11 day trip to Istanbul. In the middle of the trip, we traveled to Izmir for two nights, then returned to Istanbul for the remainder of the trip. So we stayed at the Amiral Palace hotel in two different rooms. I'd like to offer my impressions and comment on some of the...

At a glance, Amiral Palace is a decent hotel in a very convenient location (just minutes from Blue Mosque and Aya Sophia). Though quite expensive, it's clean, relatively comfortable and has almost everything you need. It also comes with a free breakfast. If that is good enough for you, stop reading the review here. My issues with Amiral Palace runs...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
