We stayed in the women's dorm and it was large and spotlessly clean with thick, comfy mattresses. I've stayed there a number of times and have always been happy with the place. The dorm is cheap but you should bring your own towel. They used to have an elderly employee who was short-tempered and seemed to be suffering from dementia but the last time I was there I didn't see him; maybe he finally retired. The other staff are professional and courteous. Oh and the free breakfast was excellent. Lots of fresh everything.

I never let any reviews but I really want to prevent over people to go to this guest house. It was probably, in the past, a good one, according to old reviews and the touristic book Le Petit Futé and Le Routard. But now, it’s just overpriced according to the miserable service. We booked in July for 10 persons for the end of October. We are part of a religious NGO. They asked my friend to send all the money, more than 800 euros. Of course, this is completly inapropriate. Usually, tourist can just give a deposit. Moreoever, they ask her the numbers of her credit card, they don’t use like everybody a service like Paypal or Booking.com for security reasons. My friend was really nice and payed. In septembre, 3 persons of our group could’t come. She sent an email to them for a refund and they didn’t accept. Well. We tried to find an arrangment, asking them if we can book an extra night because we have lost more than 200 euros… They don’t even reply to our questions and told us, as a gift, that we can pay 30 instead of 38 euros for the third night ! Fine, we gave up. Then we ask them if it’s possible to have a meeting in the hostel. They say no, always in a rude way, like the Italian guy says in the previews review. Once we arrived, we talked again about the money and they told us that they didn’t rent the 3 beds to leave us space. Of course, it was wrong, they could have rent to anybody… 30 euros for what ? A bed in a ugly dormroom with two shower with cold water outside. For our third night, we have been to Cinema Hotel, close to the old town, for less than 20 euros, amazing service, rooms and breakfast… I highly recommanded you to don’t go to this place, just interested in money and use completly illegal way to receive the monney.

First of all, this is not the person who made the reservation & he has no clue about the conditions of the reservation. The whole reservation was for 2 nights for 10 persons in DORMITORY rooms in the busiest season of the year. The price was 33 € per person per night including breakfast. 2 months after holding the beds, they wanted to cancel 3 beds out of 10 & asking for the money back. It was clear from the beginning since the reservation was only for 2 nights, the full amount must be paid in advance. 7 persons were sharing 2 toilets + 2 showers + 3 sinks which means each person can use the facility without waiting to the other, unfortunately, they wanted a full bathroom for each person & at the same time they don't want private rooms which are more expensive, they want to pay the minimum & get the services of 5 stars hotel. On top of that, they asked for a meeting room with a projector (of course for free) This person threatens us with his friends, either you give us back the money or we write a bad review of the guest house on TripAdvisor. This group makes part of Justice & Peace for Palestine, imagine what kind of justice & peace you can expect from such people who threaten the others to get money & all about 198 €. We serve a Buffet for breakfast, eat as much as you want but you are not allowed to take food outside the dining room, this group after having their breakfast, they were preparing sandwiches for their lunch, even for this we didn't create a problem but you can realize what type of people are they. This person is worse than the other one because they even lie about the amount paid. 33 € X 10 person X 2 nights = 660 € that's what we took from this group. I don't know where she crated the amount of 800 €. (this is a big lie) When they entered the guest house for the first time, they threatened us to write a bad review on TripAdvisor if we don't give them back the money before even before taking the rooms, before seeing the rooms. It was all planned to put pressure on us & give the money back. These are supposed to be supporters of justice & Peace for Palestinians. What kind of Justice can you expect from such kind of people? Are these people of Peace? they want to get what they want by threats. This is only a part of their attitude in the guest house. Shame on you.

I queried about rooms at this guest house whilst waiting for my flights to be confirmed. I messaged via email and called only to be shouted at by the guy who answered and told me write an email. I then wrote an email and asked for the total price as they wanted the money to reserve the room which I did not have a problem with. However they threatened me saying if you don't book by today we will cancel your booking! I am the customer and they have no regard for how they speak to you! 1 hour later they sent me another email saying reservation cancelled! This is appalling behaviour. A customer is entitled to query the price before booking and I could not book until I had my flight confirmation. When I did they told me book or else! Very bad customer service and they do not treat guests write for a so called guest house who is supposed to be attached to a Catholic church appauling treatment! Do yourselves a favour and do not book with these bullies. There are better places to book in Jerusalem.

First of all, this person has never been in our guest house. She contacted us through her friend & asked for a single room for 9 nights. After answering her email, she wanted information about a bed in a dorm. We sent her another email with the price for a bed in a dorm. Later on, she changed the date of departure. A few days later, she changed the date of arrival. Then one more time she changed the date of departure. Every time we ask her to pay, she changes something in her reservation in order to delay the payment until her arriving date. Everything has a limit, you will reach a point & tell her, tell us exactly what you want. When she mentioned her final dates, we asked her to pay, here she stopped answering. After all this, we sent her a notice that, if you don't pay we will cancel your reservation request. We can't keep answering her emails with no end.

+ clean bed-sheet and towels, available heater - which is very important during spring, possibility to leave luggage on the departure day, comfortable bed and mattress - big spots of mould on walls in my C1 room, no shower curtain, no soap, noise during nighttime (no sleep without earplugs except Fri when Muslim quarter is completely silent), weak Wi-Fi

Jerusalem was in a horrid dust-cloud when we stayed, and we wandered into the yard of the Armenian Guest House restaurant more by chance than anything. I’m really glad we did, as it we had the most beautiful, clean chicken shush, hummus and flatbread. I can’t stand the tourist-trap kebab-joints across the road from here, they’re invariably fly ridden and so overcrowded. This Armenian restaurant is sadly underused, and we asked about accommodation, having seen references to it on this site; they have no website ( they really should rectify this ) and we were directed to a door where the very pleasant guy on reception showed us a room. We’ll definitely consider staying here on a future visit.

and comfort. Not an address with extra amenities or a touristy feel but an ideal address for a short or long stay to live out of while exploring the Old City and surrounding areas, observing the Via Dolorosa, and savoring the food, beverages, and activity of the Muslim Quarter. Ours was Room #2. Excellent access and internet. Comfortable bed and a great shower.

We have just come back from Jerusalem, staying one night on our way to Jericho and then one night on our return to Tel Aviv. We found all the hotel staff extremely helpful and friendly. The location is good just inside the walls a short walk from the Damascus Gate ( all downhill ) on the Via Dolorosa. Easy to get to the sites in the old city. Our rooms were clean and cool and spacious. The breakfast was very tasty and served in the courtyard to the Armenian Church round the corner. You can also get meals there all day long. The hotel booked taxi for transfer to Jericho. When there was a crisis on our return they were extremely helpful in getting us to the airport on time. We would not hesitate to stay there again.

We stayed at the Armenian Guest House more than 2 weeks ago and I was surprised how unfriendly some of the people were there. I arrived with my girlfriend, who was ill and needed a bed to recover from the journey from Amman to Jerusalem. They wanted me to pay in cash before entering the room. It took me 45 minutes to find a cash machine, which was working. When I came back, I complained about not giving my girlfriend a bed while I was getting the money and the man behind the desk answered: "We know such people like you. In the end you leave without paying." I think, they are prejudiced against people with backpacks. We are both teachers who are far-traveled and were shocked about such a behaviour. The best thing was that they even could not give any change and were not willing to give me receipt about my payment, although they forced me to pay instantly... When I complained again about this behaviour and how they could not help an ill person the only reply was: "You can be lucky that she was allowed to sit down!" As my girlfriend did not have the strength to leave the hostel instantly so we stayed for the night. Everything else nearby was fully booked as it was Easter Sunday. The room was more or less clean, breakfast was okay and the location quite good. Their internet worked from time to time. We left as early as possible the next day. The cleaning woman was really friendly and made us leave the place with a smile. But we will never come back and cannot recommend this place due to the staff's unhospital behaviour.

First of all, we want to mention that this guest had no reservation, he wanted to stay for 1 night, he doesn't want to pay with his credit card, he doesn't have cash to pay but he wanted the room immediately before noon, (check inn is after 14:00) in all cases we couldn't give them a room early because we didn't have a room available, check out is at 11:00 am after that we need time to clean the room, in a busy week like Easter Week, without a reservation, he wanted to get the room without paying, THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE not only at the Armenian Guest House even the big hotels will never give you the room without paying or giving them your credit card to get an authorization. According to him, his girlfriend was tired, this doesn't mean that we have to give them the room without paying, she was sitting on a coach in the reception, what can we do more than that. Having a problem getting cash from an ATM machine is not our problem, not all ATM machines are compatible with all kind of credit or debit cards, again it's not our problem if he went around for 45 minutes looking for an ATM machine compatible with his card. As he mentioned that both of them were teachers & traveled a lot, if they traveled a lot they should know that nobody gives them a room without paying or at least getting an authorization on his credit card as a guaranty, specially for a walk in guests with no reservation. The receptionist told him that he was lucky to get a room in Easter Week without a reservation, if he misunderstood this I wonder how can he be a good teacher. Every hotel or every institution has it's own rules, we can't accept giving a room without a credit card guaranty or payment in cash. This whole issue is based on getting a room without paying in advance or a credit card guaranty.

We stayed in the Old City at this location during Holy Week. It's best to arrive/get dropped off at the Damascus Gate, it's not too far of a walk with luggage. After entering the gate, the road forks, stay to the left and you will arrive at the Armenian Church. To access the guest house, you enter on the side of the building, there is a sign, but it is easy to miss especially if you are tired from traveling. The rooms are very basic, but clean. My friend is 6'2" and he said the bed was too short for him, and it was hard to get comfortable. The shower situation is also very basic. In our room anyway, it was a hand held shower, with no holder for the hand held shower and water got all over the place. We stayed for 4 days, and enjoyed the convenience of being in the Old City. The staff were all very nice, and the breakfast was really good. There was plenty of fresh pita bread, hummus, eggs, vegetables, etc. and coffee. The family who ran the restaurant were very nice.

There is different types of rooms, superior, regular & dormitory rooms. According to the price you choose, you get the room. You can't expect to get a superior room when you pay for a bed in a dorm or a regular room. In all cases you get a clean room, clean sheets, clean bathrooms......

Over priced & not to be recommended, single rooms not inviting, mine had no bed spread, a pillow that should have been replaced years ago, it was deflated and soiled and certainly unable to provide support to my neck & head. Room was old and tired paint peeling from walls. The bathroom was basic, no soap provided for hand washing, no bath mat provided despite there being no shower curtain & floor becoming flooded with water from shower. Water from hand basin splashed everywhere & no basin plug provided. Unable to lock balcony door. The room was very noisy, noise carried up from cafe below, could also hear noise from street well into the night & early morning. There was nowhere to sit and talk to other guests, could not make a cup of tea. My experience of other monastery accommodation has been very positive Staff were not very welcoming or helpful, that could be that most struggled with english Wi fi provided but only worked in cafe, did nit work in room.
