Fabulous hotel great location away from the Old town but peaceful and near the light train.Loved the history behind the Hotel. We had dinner at the hotel and the food was amazing. The pool was clean and easy to get a sunbed and all the staff in every area could not do enough for us.We will return to stay again one day .
The hotel itself is a true gem and the location makes it a fairly quiet place outside of the hustle and bustle of central Jerusalem, whilst the old city is within good walking distance and in proximity to a tram connecting all of the spot you want to got to. The hotel has a pleasant and historic feel to it and effort has been spent to maintain the hotel and its rich history. The rooms were very nice and clean with good amenities as well. The breakfast is definitely recommended and I’d also suggest a drink in the courtyard in the evening. Staff is very friendly and helpful with the concierge providing a lot of information about the hotel, surrounding area and things to do in Jerusalem. The only negative thing I would like to raise is that the tours that were suggested by the hotel are for an extortionate price specially for 2 people (quoted 360 dollars for a tour of the old city and 350 for a trip to Bethlehem). Noting that Bethlehem is under 20 km and just a taxi or bus ride away, and local tours to the old city go for around 40 dollars per person, the prices quoted are borderline criminal. If this is the best they can do, I would suggest working with some agencies (e.g. Sandemans) to provide some more affordable options.…
My wife and I spent eight nights at The American Colony Hotel and relished every minute. We had the Junior Suite which consisted of a very large room with bed, couch, desk, two comfortable sitting chairs, and a large well-appointed bathroom. The patio off the room was extremely large and very private with flowers and bushes situated around the perimeter. Although the restaurant is in a pretty garden setting, we decided to eat our meals on the patio. One nice touch is that guests can make free international calls from their rooms. The hotel is situated a short ten-minute walk to Herod’s and the Damascus Gates of the Old City. As nice as the room was the staff was amazing and I mean the entire staff from housekeeping, waitstaff, to the front desk. The day we arrived we met with Yousef, the concierge. He sat down with us to help plan our trip. He asked where we wanted to go and what we wanted to see. We had booked a couple of trips ourselves. Yousef arranged private tours of the Old City (two days), Bethlehem, and the Sea of Galilee, Caesarea, delivering us to our hotel in Tel Aviv. One of the first days here I lost my cell phone, which also contained my driver’s license, health cards, and credit cards. My wife did some detective work with Verizon and pinpointed its location. We went to the front at midnight and were greeted by Mouayad who called the police. When they arrived, it was discovered that the location of the cell phone was at the police station. Without hesitating Mouayad offered to drive us to the station to retrieve my phone. The entire front desk staff are helpful and engaging. This is more than likely our one and only trip to Israel. It could not have gone better, thanks, in large part, to our stay at the American Colony Hotel.…
Stayed 2 nights whilst touring Jerusalem. Stayed in Pasha Room 102, which overlooked the pool. Service and food was realy good. Not cheap to stay but then you are in a old hotel that is both classy and unique with lots of history. Enjoyed ithe stay and will be back.
We have traveled over 57 different countries And would say that this isn't one of the top 5 hotels we stayed at. Not only was the property beautiful, but more importantly, the service was exquisite was it period from the bartender at the very elegant bar to the servers during breakfast there are very few places we have stayed that can meet this standard..
