I was surprised by this property. It did exceed my expectations. I booked the stay on booking.com, and as I was concentrating on other aspects of my trip and not heeding any more than the rather scant information on booking.com, other than a desirable location near the beach, I was expecting a dated 1970s era hotel that was probably not really near the beach. I was wrong on all counts. It was a glourious upscale hotel, where I was given a very spacious balcony overlooking the beach. Yes, there is a bisecting road, but I could open my door and feel and hear the sea, which, alone was worth the price paid. The hotel is adjacent to another property with almost the same name and same owner and, in fact, both properties operate in conjunction and the amenities of one or for the enjoyment of guests at both, which gave us access to an infinity pool.

This is a very-well located hotel with very good food and a nice indoor pool in the basement. The rooms are adequate but certainly not luxury standard. The major problem is that service is entirely lacking and the staff is uniformly unfriendly. There is a security guard at the hotel entrance but no sign of any bellmen and there is no offer of assistance with luggage. In the restaurant, although breakfast and dinner were buffet style, our only contact with servers was when they informed us that the dining room would be closing soon. It was great to be able to walk outside to the pedestrian thoroughfares but, if you are looking for a 5-star hotel, this should not be your choice.

The Samuel Herbert is well located. The room was clean and comfortable. The people who worked there were welcoming and helpful. They were super fast on laundry. So more than adequate and in a land of lavish breakfast bars they go to the top of the list. You cannot imagine more choices of pastries, salads and vegetables, fruits. There's fresh squeezed orange juice, an omelet station and espresso drinks made to order. I only got a few photos and there's more than you see in the pix. Also the breakfast room is up on the eleventh floor of the building, so well lit and a lovely place to sit in the morning.

Unfortunately, we had cockroaches as uninvited roommates, ....the hotel only responded with shrugs. The rooms are ok, but in need of renovation and partly not clean....probably that's why we had the the cockroach... The housekeeping stood in the room several times and started a conversation with us even though we were in bed....so not recommended...

A very nice 5 star hotel in a great location in central Jerusalem. Be advised you can’t drive up to the hotel. There is no road access. I have no idea what you do if you have a car. Lots of shopping and restaurants nearby.

Location great and very clean. However, feel absolutely cheated on Superior room. Was not. I measured it but manager said I didn’t know how to use a tape measure. My measurement was .5 sq meter over std room and a full 3.5 meters below what we paid for. I was brushed off. Said they’d follow up after we left, but nothing. Feel cheated.

We stayed for two night in two rooms. Despite arriving at 2am in the morning, checkin was smooth and efficient. Room quality was excellent. Rooms servicing was never completed late. Hotel very very well situated within walking distant of Kotel, Machane Yehuda, Mamilla and good general tourist shopping and eating areas. On check out a query on bill was efficiently resolved. Having been in israel many times, I have come to expect poor service at hotels. The Herbert Samuel was an exception. Breakfast was also tasty and more than sufficient and service here also very good. Highly recommend. Price paid represented very good value.

Great hotel in a wonderful location. Close to lots of great restaurants; close enough to walk to the Jaffa gate. Rooms are comfortable. Felt safe walking around the neighborhood. Adi Assad, the front desk manager, was very helpful in arranging airport transportation for us. The driver contacted us through WhatsApp and we met easily at the airport. Mr. Assad and the other folks at the front desk were helpful with other questions during our stay. Plus prior to our arrival, someone at the front desk recommended a tour company for us to use during our stay - Beinharimtours, who were great. Lastly I'd like to give a shout out to Rama, a member of the morning wait staff. She was excellent. Always greeted us with a smile and got us our coffee without us asking. In fact she went out of her way to find me some hot chocolate. She was just wonderful
