what's the nightlife like? is there bars restaurants dancing nearby? I'm going away with my sister and although we're grown ups (40!) we still crave a bit of fun in the evenings so not sure if this place is close enough to some hotspots?

No, no bars and not much happens in terms of nightlife. Alcoholic drinks are prohibited. You can't bring your own as per Kuwaiti laws your alcohol will be confiscated at airport. 😬
