It was my first stay at Sama Al Wasil Camp as a guest. We booked this camp because all other camps in Wahiba Sands stopped their operations in summer. So, I can say we made a great decision as we were the only guests in the camp and treated here as Royals! The camp itself looks as a little oasis...

Nicely set up in the sand: a large central lounge pavilion with open walls serving as a reception and the place where welcome-drinks and dates are offered, distantly surrounded by small one-room cabins with tiled floor, rough painted walls, beams and slats ceiling. Bathroom is outside of the room but still within the cabin, consisting of loo, basic shower without...

Good services, friendly people, the tents do have bathrooms now, it's nearby the big dunes that you can see in the south of the hotel, at walking distance, ideal to hike and enjoy a sunset or sunrise, and avoid the extra paying of the jeep or van drive. Good food, nice camp fire and a telescope to see the stars...

Just returned from our one night stay in the desert. We were three couples and we stayed in three of the A/C equipped Rooms which were very comfortable. The welcome we got from the staff was excellent, coffee, dates etc. There is big sand dunes behind the camp which were perfect for viewing the spectacular sunset. The dinner provided was...

I spent 2 nights in the camp in early January 2015 with my husband and the experience was fantastic. Great atmosphere: you are fully immersed in the desert and the blue sky, no noise at all, just sands, stars and cammels. The accomodation was very good: clean rooms and toilets, good food (tipical and international), nice place to have dinner...

The Camp is located in a flat valley 192 km (2 hours drive) from Muscat in the heart of Sharquiya Sands. The camp is surrounded by dunes of varying heights that gives the camp the feeling of complete isolation from the outside world.

Positives: * check-in was easy while the manager dealt with the details we went to the general Bedouin styled sitting area where we were offered Omani coffee, dates and oranges * Bedouin style sitting area outside each hut * the dining area is also in the Bedouin style although there are some tables for those who don’t want to sit...

The Sama Al Wasil Camp is a very good combination for those who want to experience the desert but would still like a bit of comfort. Stone bungalows (some of them climatized) are built in a circle around one large tent-like building, where the very friendly staff welcomes the travellers with dates, Omani coffee or tea. The rooms as well...

In terms of the location being on a desert, this is a good place to spend a weekend. The welcome was unexpectedly refreshing, with traditional kahwa (arabic coffee) dates and ginger tea served, with delicious oranges. The central place is great for families to get together and have a chat. The food was delicious (considering the desert location) with live...
