The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal receives mixed reviews regarding value; some guests appreciate the fair room rates and dining, while others find the costs inconsistent with Ritz standards. Rooms are generally praised for their comfort and space, though a few mention maintenance and decor issues. The hotel's cleanliness and service consistently earn accolades, with many guests impressed by the immaculate conditions and staff's exceptional care.
The vibrant atmosphere and comprehensive amenities, including luxurious lounges and diverse dining options, are popular among travelers. While the location is celebrated for its stunning views and proximity to the Grand Mosque, a few guests note its remoteness from other attractions.

Detailed Reviews
I do a lot of traveling both domestic and international and have never written review on Trip Advisor but felt it was necessary to let everyone know about this incredible hotel. I have never felt this much friendliness and hospitality from any hotel in my 30 plus years of traveling.
From get go, I simply emailed the reservation services and Mr. Joao Ferreira, the director of sales, immediately responded. He was extremely professionally and went above and beyond to help my friends and I get a reservations when availably was limited due to numerous events going on in Abu Dhabi. This allowed me to cancel reservation at another Marriot that I was not happy about staying at because the location was too far from my work location. Thank you again Joao!!!
Once we arrived at the reception, the concierge team that included Ms. Lu and Ms. Carolina were waiting for us. They greeted us like we were family and accommodated every request we had. I have never been so pleased to check into a hotel. It was amazing!
Right when I thought that would be the last of the hospitality, we went upstairs the Club Lounge to get some light lunch. Again, the staff greeted us like we were family! Mr. Ranga and Ms. Faith will make you feel at home all at the same time giving the first class breakfast, lunch, and dinner experience. A few small examples of the personalized attention came when I asked Mr. Ranga who I could contact to follow-up with delivery of laundry that I had turned-in couple days prior. Immediately, Mr. Ranga was on phone and tracked down my laundry and was it delivered within 30 minutes. Another time came when I asked Ms. Faith where I could go to purchase a long extension cord or long HDMI cable so I could hook up my Roku because the 110 plug was too far from television. Immediately after I asked where I could purchase and without telling me, Ms.Faith called maintenance and they delivered a brand new 6 foot HDMI cable to room within 10 minutes so I did not have to waste my time running around in a foreign location. I understand these are small things, but they pay incredible attention to everyone’s personal needs all at the same time providing first class service.
The hotel itself is extremely nice but the experience you’ll receive with the friendliness and hospitality of “all“ the staff far outweighs anything you’ll remember about this hotel. It is truly unbelievable! You have to experience it to truly understand. If you’re every traveling to Abu Dhabi for work or pleasure, don’t pass up the opportunity to stay at this hidden gem of a hotel.

We took our first trip to the UAE in Nov 2019 and everyone recommeded to us that we should go to Dubai. However, we came across the Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi during our search and were immediately taken with how picture perfect it looked.
I can honestly say from start to finish this was quite simply one of the best holidays we have had and the Ritz Carlton contributed in a huge way to the experince. The staff at reception, in the bars (especially Sorso) and resturants were all amazing and could not be more helpful if they tried.
On arrival we were taken down to our Garden villa and shown around our accomodation - stunning, just stunning!
The whole hotel is spotless and maintained to a very high standard. The poolside is a wonderful place to relax and unwind with the poolside menu catering for all tastes. We did spend one day down at the beach and as a personal preference I preffered poolside as the canal does have a lot of traffic going up and down it making it fairly noisey!
The food at all the restaurants is delicious and we never had any complaints. We were half board and the selection of food avaliable for this exceptional value for money. Giornotte was the main restaurant avaliable for the half board basis and one of the best buffet selections I've ever experienced. The only thing we missed out on was the Friday Brunch as we did think that was slightly expensive for what it was and having to pay additionally for it over and above our half board rate. Our favourite meal though was at The Forge, closely followed by Li Jiang with prawn toast to die for! In both these restuarants you are very well looked after by the staff. The half board menus have plenty of options on them for all.
The only thing I would say to people visiting is if you take advantage of the shuttle bus service provided by the hotel to the Grand Mosque then it's worth nothing our experience. We went on a Friday evening and by the time we got through security (which was mobbed) and walked along the VERY long tunnel to actually get to the mosque we had basically ran out of time and had to turn back and get back to the pick up point for the bus. Def not enough time given! However, this is my only criticism of our trip.
We wanted to get away, relax and unwind and that we most certainly did. Now all we can think about is when we will be able to get back again!
Thank you Ritz Carlton Abu Dhabi for a truly wonderful holiday and cannot wait to come back for more!

We booked our 10-days’ vacation here and we really enjoyed it very much. Upon arrival the weather was really bad due to rain, the entire region suffered including the hotel and unfortunately also our even our Garden Suite. But once it was sorted out the next day, everything went very smooth for the other 9 days. All members of staff we encountered were extremely friendly, professional & well trained and welcoming. Once they knew our routine, we really felt at home: from the pool attendant having prepared the sunbeds before you arrive; breakfast staff knowing your preferred coffees and style of eggs; housekeeping leaving extra coffee or milk, bell staff offering numerous rounds between Lobby and our Garden Suite, etc.
We booked our stay via a third party with half board and we received excellent value for money. Although the half board is offering less in selection of dishes, there is no discrimination in the quality and freshness of the food. Half board package is invited to the special Saturday evening buffet at Li Jiang (Asian) and the selection is large. We returned for dinner there most nights as we enjoyed the service, the setting, atmosphere and the super high quality of food!!! Breakfast choice is delicious, chefs cooking your favourite egg dish and all continents are presented on the buffet. Whether it is Asian, European or English/American, it is available and there is plenty of it. It may be very crowded at peak times, so take your time and enjoy it!
Our accommodation was superb in a Garden Suite as the peace, space (even large outdoor seating) and privacy is unbeaten in any accommodation in the entire Abu Dhabi region.
Also the large scrolling grounds and extremely large (heated) outdoor pool and the adult pool opposite our Garden Suite, provide peace and space to roam. The adult pool offers a very quiet setting and the other larger pool offers perks as being able to offer food service at the sunbeds.
It is impossible to remember all the names of each member of staff, but we should mention some names: Peter from bell staff, Leonardo waiter from Li Jiang, Gerrard (manager), waitress in Giornotte from Birma.
Last but not least: we enjoyed the quality of the Spa, the building and staff are top quality, the prices here are high. They offer a discount during early or late times but these times did not suit our needs.
We certainly will return as it ticked all our boxes!

We spent a week here in October 2019 as a family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 children, aged 7 & 4. We stayed on the Half Board Dine Around basis which allowed access to the 3 a la carte restaurants for our evening meal as well as the main restaurant. We only dined in the main restaurant one evening and we visited each of the other restaurants twice throughout the course of our stay. We enjoyed each of the restaurants, with The Forge being our favourite of the three.
The hotel’s kids club was in a good location which allowed our little ones to pop in for some time out of the sun as we could sit on the loungers directly beside the entrance. Not a lot of interaction from the staff themselves compared with other kids clubs we have experienced, but the facilities were still very good. As a result, there wasn’t a lot to keep the children entertained (animation programme etc), so we took a trip to Yas Waterworld one day which was only around a 20 min cab ride from the hotel.
The hotel is in a super location, directly across the road from the Grand Mosque which we all visited as part of our vacation. We would recommend visiting early evening so that you can experience the sunset from the mosque – it really was breathtaking.
All in all it was a lovely, relaxing break for us all in the Ritz Carlton and we would consider returning.

So, first of all, the hotel is located just in front of the big Mosque and in the grand canal.
I really recommend visiting the “memorial place” where you will take wonderful pictures of the mosque (you must go at around 11am; 5pm and 8pm) all is waking distance.
This has to be the biggest or one of the biggest ritz carlton in the world as it has like 600 rooms approx. this is a detail to consider as the beach and pool sunbeds will always be crowded and so will the breakfast which was amazing by the way had loads of things.
The beach as it is in the grand canal is really really small and not very clean. There are no free watersports or even paid ones. Hotel should have a free boat ride to the Souq which is just crossing the canal [really weird a Ritz carlton that doesnt offer this service]
Rooms were nice. Club lounge was nice too.
Special shoutout to Carolina at the Club Lounge super attentive.
NYE: we had the buffet option, it was the best buffet I Have ever been to. It had from lobster to the best sushi i had ever had. The sweets part was amazing. Duck and all the rest was great too. Loads of options to choose from.
The live band was great too. The Dj which ended at 2am played most of old songs which I didnt like but it seems other people did. We expected to go to the after party which would last until 4am but the place was empty!
Fireworks were paid by the hotels in the area, they were nice but of course not the ones you could see somewhere where the government pays the fireworks.
The giant pool should have a time for kids as they were extremely annoying throwings balls and wetting people. If you want an adults pool they send you somewhere where theres no view at all and you have to walk a bit far. So my advice for the hotel is they do something about it so next time the pool is enjoyable for everyone. I could see kids with bleeding noses and some worst stuff inside the water which was disgustinf. Its not the level of people you would expect at a ritz carlton but at an all inclusive hotel.
Anyways we had a fun time and I recommend it!

Stayed at the executive king suite. Very spacious clean and has a beautiful view of the main pool.
The hotel is not crowded, everyone is wearing masks and a safe distance is maintained all the time.
Customer service was at the top. From when we stepped out of the car to the reception to the spa also room service everyone was nice and professional and went out of their way to provide the service.
We had a nice surprise in the room while I was at the spa Indah and her team created a romantic setup in the room with flowers balloons dessert and fruits it was so nice. Ilias in the reception had gathered details to the purpose of our stay.
I definitely recommend the spa I had a very talented masseuse they had all the small detailed facilities to make a perfect spa setting. Environment, temperature, locker with all necessities all perfect. Steam room sauna and small pool all ladies.
I recommend coming to the Ritz during this pandemic I felt safe and the hotel is much less occupied. Disinfecting wipes are available in the room.
Thank you Ritz for the nice romantic setup.

We were visiting the hotel for Friday Brunch with three friends and my wife and I decided rather than paying for pool passes, that we would book a room for an overnight stay despite the fact that we only live about 25 mins away.
The brunch was fantastic. Due to CV19 rules, we unfortunately had to sit as a two and three rather than as a table of 5. There was an excellent choice of beautifully-prepared food and the chefs were extremely helpful (I eat fish but not meat).
We then had two or three hours in the pool and then went to the room. The pool is really clean and very large. You can also make your way to the river to swim if you wish.
The room was fantastic as the photos will attest. We then headed back to the pool and were allowed to remain there longer as we were granted an extension on our check-out time. All the staff were fantastic- especially Irfan, one of the waiters at the pool who remembered us from when we’d booked a pool pass several weeks earlier and really looked after us. The sandwiches/wraps served at the pool are really tasty and well prepared.
Overall, we had a short stay but were made to feel special by the staff and we will definitely return at some point soon, I hope.

The service at the Ritz Carlton was excellent from start to finish.
We were greeted by Milan whom opened our car doors and collected our luggage taking it directly to our room with a very friendly and informative tour of the restaurants, facilites and fire exits etc.
1 issue we did spot is the directions as you exit the lift on the 4th floor was incorrect!
Huguette on check in was very friendly and polite and answered any questions that we had.
She upgraded us to a nicer room with a lovely balcony overlooking the swimming pool.
The chandeliers were very impressive and the staircase down to the pool had a wow factor.
The corridors were lovely with wide hallways and marble flooring.
We had a giod view of the Grand Mosque which always gives you tingles down your spine with the wow factor.
Remote control for the TV had weak and poor reception so was a little restrictive.
The bathroom was spacious and had 2 separate sinks but the toilet and shower doors were both noisy and squeaky.
The bed head was a little worn away. The room was spacious and comfortable.
Anil by the beach was also excellent placing our pool towels on the sun loungers.
Vishal was also exceptional and remembered my name and the drinks we ordered from the previous day making it a personal experience.
Breakfast was in the main international restaurant. Big selection and always a highlight for me :-)
The gym was very good...technogym equipment, spacious and very well equipped with natural sunlight. Also had a studio.
Good clean changing rooms with sauna and steam room which I used as had already checked out of our room and used the facilities before our drive to Dubai.
1 downside was booking dinner at the Asian restaurant was fully booked for dinner on Valentines day although we were staying there.
VERY impressive hotel.

The people seem nice enough but the service for the most part is terrible.
Grounds are very nice but there un-kept areas, everyday as i walk into my villa i dodge piles of bird droppings or sand all over the tiles.
Villas - it is nice to have a place away from everyone else, but all the furniture in my villa is stained and extremely old and dirty, housekeeping does a terrible job of cleaning anything. the outside patio i have asked to have cleaned several times they come throw water down and that is it. the seat cushions have more bird droppings all over them.
I use some of the shampoo or soaps in the bathrooms but it is never replaced unless i complain. Some of the towels i get are thread bare and you can see through them. And all this at a 5***** hotel. more like a 1 star in some aspects. i have called for them to come pick up my laundry and 8 hours later i call again and still no one shows up.
Some of the villas where my coworkers stay are littered with Ants and bugs. There seems to be absolutely ZERO over-site at this hotel, the employees seem to do what they want.
i will call up to the front desk and it takes forever for someone to answer, service is going down hill in a quick hurry here. As a person who spends 9+ months in Marriott Bonvoy locations around the world this has to be at the top of the worst ones out there

Really disappointing experience, starting at check-in.
Check-in took abnormally longer compared to other luxury brand hotels supposedly in the same tier. We handled luggage ourselves; no one offered to deliver to the room.
Room itself was shockingly poor. Everything was dated and worn. I’ve stayed in nicer, modern rooms in much less “premium” brands. TV didn’t even work, had to call someone in to fix it (TV was dated, too). AC didn’t get cold enough. The one positive thing I had to say was about the shower — it was pretty decent.
Pool was actually nice and well chilled. However, it’s overrun with kids and parents do nothing to control them. Pretty typical. Not sure why they don’t have an adults-only pool like other premium hotels....
Service was abysmally poor for a hotel using the Ritz brand. While there were some shining stars, it took a long time to get drink orders fulfilled and then they were extremely disappointing.
My biggest issue with the service was with a friend I was traveling with. He had to change rooms at 3AM after the front desk apparently did nothing to stop kids from screaming in the halls and slamming doors. They didn’t even upgrade him to a nicer room.
When he checked out, he wanted to speak to a manager about this terrible service and experience — it was the assistant front desk manager or something, a Spanish guy — who offered free check out (even though my friend was already checking out late at 2PM and already arranged late checkout). He would only offer a complimentary upgrade if he stayed here again, which is a joke since this hotel is overpriced for what you get. Him and I are certainly never staying here again. Funny thing is,.. we spent 4,000 AED at the steakhouse for dinner, but I guess kids meals are more important for this hotel. No wonder the rooms are so worn.

Response from Executive Office, General Manager at The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal
Responded 30 Aug 2020
Dear IansK5117HX, Thank you for taking the time to write a TripAdvisor review following your recent stay at The Ritz Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal. We appreciate your constructive feedback as it provides us an insight of our shortfall in services and helps improving them further. While I appreciate your nice comments about the shower and our swimming pool, I am also saddened to note the inconveniences you and your friend faced during the stay and for that, I would like to sincerely apologies, this is definitely not the type of experience we want our valued guests to have. We have taken note of your comments related to your bedroom, TV and air conditioning. Please be assured that our teams has already taken necessary steps in addressing those issues. As this was a very particular weekend with the traditional Eid celebrations, where friends and families come together; we indeed welcomed slightly more kids than usual but with our 60 acres of garden, multiple stand-alone villas, private apartments and dedicated adult-only-areas, we do our utmost to accommodate all of our guest’s needs. For this reason and convenience of our guests, we have an adult only pool apart from the main pool, which is the largest pool in the country and provides a dedicated kids splash pad. We are promoting these unique services and areas during check-in and provide Resort-maps to our guests to make sure everybody can take full advantage of the preferred arrangements and areas. In regards of your friends, our duty manager has updated me on the situation and the trouble of changing the room during the night. Our team did immediately address the noise issue with the kid’s family upon receiving the complaint and assisted him in changing the room with offering a service recovery to suffice the inconvenience. In order to address any of your concerns further and to ensure your satisfaction, I have shared my contact details via a direct message. Once again, my sincere apologies for the inconvenience you and your friend faced. We want our guests to have an exceptional experience with us. I would sincerely appreciate, if you give us another opportunity to win back your confidence. Feel free to contact me directly at any time and I will ensure that you have an amazing Ritz Carlton experience. Looking forward to welcoming you back at The Ritz Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal. Thank you, Christian Hoehn General Manager
