Traveling is not only about taking pictures with nice cathedrals , beaches or parks. It also includes getting to know the culture and the people living in that place. When I decided to travel to Punta del Este I was about to stay in a hotel but then I saw that the ratings for La Lomita del Chingolo were pretty...

A bit of a hike from the bus station but well worth it. Rodrigo is an excellent host, speaks fluent English and is very helpful. Thanks also to his wife Alejandra, son Agustin and brown Labrador Hush! The small number of rooms ensure a nice family atmosphere where you can mix with the other guests. If you can afford it,...

The Lomita is situated in a quiet and leafy area of Punta del Este. It's not really walking distance if you want to go downtown, but there's a bicycle rental only a couple of blocks away - also what seems to be one of the nicer beaches is only a fifteen minutes walk away. The place is very green, it...

I stayed in La Lomita for few nights at the beginning of December 2009. The weather in Punta was nice and sunny, not many tourists around before the beginning of the main season which is January and it actually made me enjoy it all more, because the never ending beaches were empty :o) .... The people who run this hostel...

Great little hidden gem, away from the crazyness of Punta del Este Rodrigo and his family welcomed us as friends in their house. They always organise something in the evening. We had an amazing bbq in the garden with the other guests. Great memories! You can rent bikes not far from La lomita and cycle around the area! Internet available,...

We just got back from a great stay at La Lomita in Punta del Este. Punta tends to be WAY out of the price range of most people, but thanks to the great family that runs this guest house, it doesn't have to be so. I cannot say enough great things about this place, seriously, don't miss out on it....

I recommend people to stay at La Lomita del Chingolo. Rodrigo(owner) and his wife made us feel as being at home. Rooms were comfortable and the house was extremely clean with daily room services. What's more, Rodrigo was like a tourist guide informing us where to go and how in a cheaper and best way. He also made a delicious...

Close to beach, cheap, very cute. Had an amazing cook-out one night. Me and a few of my friends are studying abroad in Buenos Aires and we took a little weekend getaway at La Lomita del Chingolo and we had an awesome time and were welcomed into the home. Very clean. Recommend Highly.

I stayed 3 days because of business matters. The guest was more than kind, he is ver friendly, an awesom person and cares about every detail you need. For example, he cooked for us a great barbacue, and one girl was vegetarian, so he grilled a few vegetables for her. In my case, he care about some stuff of the...
