From this hotel you can easily walk to Plaza Bolivar, the main square, with its grand collection of official buildings, the Botero Museum, and the Gold Museum. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The interior of the hotel is stylishly colonial, with warm colors. I stayed in two different rooms. First, a spacious junior suite on the seventh floor,...

Good location. The service is not 5 stars, but in Colombia you will downgrade your expectations. The Candelaria neighborhood is not interesting and you won't feel very safe walking around, but is really better than the rest of Bogota.

The building is an old colonial very nice one including an impressive patio. Location is great- a minute walking from Plaza Bolivar and museums and other attractions in La Candelaria. The room is not so impressive- stains on tube, windows didn't open and close freely. Heating , although old worked well. Nice views from upper floors . Breakfast is o.k.,...

Fantastic view from 7th floor room. Excellent staff and food. I'm unhappy that this was the only hotel in Colombia to charge me the IVA tax -- which was unrefundable at the airport. But for Bogota stays -- it doesn't get any better than the Opera, I"m sure! Bob Jones

We spent one night here at the end of our Colombian holiday. It is in a lovely historic building close to all the places of interest. The hotel had good facilities and the staff were helpful and friendly. The room was off the courtyard area so could be a bit noisy as sounds echoed around. Nothing you can do in...

Nice colonial hotel with an Art Deco wing. The Art Deco room was lovely and clean but the floor could have been washed. They moved furniture on the other side of the wall at 6 every morning. The person whe came to hear it laughed, not funny at all. Seems they don't own the rooms around or below their Art...

This is a clean, comfortable boutique hotel, nicely situated in the Candelaria region of Bogata. The rooms are comfortably appointed, and quiet for sleeping. The hotel has a very good breakfast, and the staff are courteous. English is spoken, so communication was not an issue. Although an older building, it has been beautifully upgraded to modern standards.

It is a boutique hotel in a good location for the main sites in Bogota. The building is old with an interesting layout. The rooms are good. Good wifi and has a business centre with PC and printer. Partial buffet breakfast. The bar did not look very inspiring and there are plenty of options nearby.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hotel de la Opera is located in La Candelaria, next to the Cristobal Colon Theater, in front of "Palacio San Carlos", currently headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, one block from Bolivar Square and a fifteen minutes walk to the funicular for Monserrate hill. Thanks to its strategic location, our guests can easily visit the most characteristic places of the city, for example the Gold Museum, Botero Museum, Primary Cathedral, etc. Also, many important government buildings are nearby. Walking its roads you will be part of its stories, legends and myths which are preserved in each of its houses. Questions like, why do the houses have doors of two meters? Where did Manuelita Saenz live her idyll with Simon Bolivar? Which is the window through which Simon Bolivar escaped? These are just some examples of the cultural treasures that you will find in La Candelaria. ... more   less
