Family of 4 with reasonable expectations… firstly it is a beautiful location with a price tag by Hilton but very disappointed. End of Sept 2022 and in random order: 1/ pool bar : closed… ok not meant to stay at the pool bar but like seriously not even during lunch or for sunset ? 2/ food overall : cheap selection, there is no chef in the kitchen but a group of people pretending to cook a repetitive buffet. Other than a stinky and fried option at the nearby cafe which takes hours to get food as there is limited personnel on the island… and it is quite clear the personnel has received very limited if any training. 3/ I do understand we are in a post Covid era and it is tough but the price are nowhere close to an Hilton service…. 4/ asked for a beer at the pool bar… waited 20 minutes and asked to have a clean glass… I meant not washed with tap water but at least some soap… apparently the soap was finished. But they claimed highest covid protocol 🥳 and tons of glass and dishes all over the place … 5/ ice cream at the buffet: 2 sad boxes of ice cream sitting there in a old freeze like the end of the world is approaching fast… 6/ personnel is nice but they do what they can … this is now a mass gathering location, volume matters, quality does not… 7/used the gym for an hour and forgot to remove towel and a water cup from a bench… still there the 24 hours after I went back in … yes, sorry my fault but … 8/ … I can keep going on but there is a serious lack of attention to details, poor management ( have not seen any senior manager across the long week end ) and this place does not qualify for a 5 star hotel … Better to take a boat for a day trip and stay in the island for a nice snorkelling experience but not really for the service, quality or food.

The over water bungalows are nothing short of beautiful & romantic but don’t expect any privacy. Our next door neighbour walked up our stairs and could see us in our bedroom (you can use your imagination for the rest of that story). There are sea snakes- 4 of them on our stairs and deck at once. When you get over the initial shock they are very interesting but there is a fear factor attached to being outside. The food was over priced and limited. The buffet was repetitive and the bar snacks stop early afternoon only to offer nuggets & chips or fish bites & chips if you didn’t want the buffet. There was no atmosphere or ambience in the restaurant. Manager was onsite on Saturday night and buffet was better presented with better variety - the chef paraded him around and showed him all the food items. Too bad he wasn’t there the day before when all the items were the same as previous day. Take snacks & food with you or be prepared to travel to the mainland daily for affordable lunches/meals. Breakfast buffet was nice. The punch line for me for a 5 star Hilton Hotel was the ice-cream buffet - wherein an old freezer with cracked glass has a single 2lt tub of strawberry icecream plonked in it. Beyond shocked - and this is supposed to be top class.

We are a family of four with two young children. They absolutely loved the resort. I read the reviews about it so my expectations were managed appropriately. Yes, the dinner buffet lets the resort down, but it really isn’t as bad as some people are making it out. It’s just the lack of variety that gets you. If you are a real foodie and need great food and wine to enjoy your holiday then this isn’t the place for you (I am a foodie, but happy kids trumps great food nowadays). The breakfast buffet is great and we found we were only snacking during they day until dinner. Would definitely recommend families bring snacks for the kids (and the adults). It’s nice to have some wine and nibbles in your unit some days. The resort itself is really pretty and the staff are all really lovely and friendly and were very patient with my terrible French. Great water sports options - but the water sports chalet was closed some days - which was fine, just make sure you hire your snorkelling gear for as long as you are staying at the resort. We were In a beach access unit and it was perfect! The only thing is there are a lot of sea kraites - they are all over the rocks and lurking in the grass. Mostly in the mornings and evenings. They are non aggressive but venomous so need to watch the little ones and make them aware of these things. The resort was very busy in the weekend and a lot quieter during the week, which was nice. A lot of French speaking people in the weekend and mostly kiwis and Aussies left during the week so it must be a little getaway island for the locals. We were there 4 nights and were ready for a change by then.

I wanted to love this hotel but sadly a lot of the other reviews rang true. The staff were not of the professionalism or service quality that I would expect of a Hilton brand and of a hotel of this price point. In contrast, I stayed two nights at Le Meridien Noumea prior to my stay here and the staff were warm, welcoming, knowledgeable, professional and willing to help, plus I was automatically given a room upgrade in line with my status. Almost the opposite was true of the DoubleTree experience - staff barely wanted to interact, and whilst some were friendly, few were knowledgeable or able to help with basic queries. I stayed in an over water bungalow which was beautiful and definitely recommended if you do decide to stay here, however was disappointed / disgusted to find two cockroaches at check in. I understand that this sometimes cannot be helped, but when I informed the front desk nothing was done - so I trapped them under some glasses and they lived there for my entire stay, even after I informed housekeeping the next day (as per the recommendation by the front desk staff) and housekeeping said it was an issue for front desk. You are literally stranded on an island so ensure you bring food and snacks with you if you don't want to be dining at the exorbitant restaurant everyday. The dinner buffet is about AUD80, and probably was worth about a third of that price. The boat times to and from the island are scarce - even an hourly departure would help in the mornings for people leaving to catch planes, instead of every 2 hours. I would recommend anyone staying here to check out the day before a departing flight and stay in Noumea proper to avoid any stress. Sadly what could have been a very lovely stay fell short of just about every expectation.

We had read earlier reviews and were worried there wouldn’t be great options for food and drink or things to do… and pleasantly surprised to find plenty of everything as well as lovely staff and a five star resort! Even while recovering from the past two years of Covid restrictions and shutdowns, this place is doing well.

Accommodation was great. We recommend the over water bungalows for ease of access to the turtles, snakes and other sea life. Keep the outside door to the deck closed and the steps up out the water to keep snakes off your deck and out of your room. Best time to visit and view the sea life is within a couple of hours of high tide, however turtles and snakes are evident all the time. We lost count of how many we saw. Take your own mask amd fins to ensure you can snorkel whenever you want. Dont worry about the snakes. We are not on their diet and they are likely too small to be able to bite humans. Even the 3 foot ones still have small heads. Buffet is edible, however we preferred heading to Grand Terre for lunch and dinner. Take grocery bags with you and go to the supermarket close to Port Moselle for beer, snacks and splits to go with your duty free booze.

You are basically marooned at the hotel. We had a midday flight along with 20 other guests. The hotel would only put on a 7:30am boat for all of us to get back to the main land and also the breakfast we paid for only started at 7:30am so we’re not able to eat. Dropped off in the rain in the city leaving us no option but to leave for the airport at 8am. Zero interest in catering to their guests at all and in fact go out of their way to make it as difficult as possible.

i had high expectation for our 1st trip since the lockdown. I have never been to noumea before but loved the idea that it had a french influence. With three teens we were were really looking forward to the swim up bar, the jet skiing, and snorkling. None of this was available because of covid. I totally understand that these were closed because of a shortness of staff?( i assume) but it would have been nice to have warning and maybe a discount? the food is 2nd rate and super expensive. If you don't want to spend $100 each a night for your family to scratch around a buffet and find nothing appealing to eat. Things that the resort couldn't control are the 3 meter tiger shark, the snakes that crawl up the stairs of your over water bungalow the insistent rain. Things that could have been helped are the terrible food options, the watered down gin, and loosing one of our bags between our room and the water taxi..totally un-excusable. total waste of money .left early.

Stunning location, overworked and under resourced staff Stayed in the overwater bungalow - gorgeous views with immediate water access - great fun snorkelling - buffet breakfast was impressive and worth the $ - staff were lovely and helpful where possible For the price point - water not replenished daily, no tea/ coffee facilities - transfers back to the mainland (outside your arrival on day 1 and departure) not included and approx $30aud return each - no access to aquatic gear (was not operational) - staff over worked and not enough (also most staff except management struggled with english)- no information provided at checkin on services available - Attempted to view restaurant menus prior to arrival, it was not possible (three places for food - varying states of open - pics attached) - no private access to beach/island - day trippers come across in hordes Word of warning - very poor selection of food for lunch/ dinner and expensive (too bad if you had dietary requirements) - attached menus as pictures - Buffet dinner $100 and no a la carte - Moral - bring your own snacks/ wine ect

This hotel is great. Great location, Great rooms, Smiling staff. BUT: 1. No dinner buffet (which is supposed to be a must for this hotel) and we were informed when we sat at a table for dinner. Reason being not enough guests (less than 30). 2. A la carte menu was quite poor and the cooked oysters where poorly prepared and presented. 3. No free water bottles supplied (although written announced to promote Hilton membership). 4. Free upgrade (according to availability, obviously, was not prepared. I had to ask and staff has had to call to validate if they could). First time I arrive to a Hilton membership hotel and staff does not welcome me as a Hilton Diamond member§ 5. At check out, staff presented me the bills charging me the 2 rooms at the deluxe price, having "forgotten" the free upgrade which finally they had agreed to give us! Around 15 minutes to correct the bill. it looks that the hotel just reopened with beginners staff! This hotel is under Hilton group since March 2021. Clearly, the staff is lacking of training on how to treat Hilton Honors members. It is a real pity because this hotel has an exceptional location and high quality bungalows. Staff js nice and smiling, which is very pleasant, but one can expect more than that and receive the service we pay for (and not more).
