We spent 2 weeks in the Villa Azur and it had all that one needed for a self-catering holiday. Having a vehicle to get around helped, but the supermarket is well within walking distance (although not many people seemed to walk in NC). We found most people in the shops could understand some english. One tip, shower in the evening when the hot water is really hot from the solar water panels on the roof and you can turn the cold water up; then pressure in the shower is more reasonable. Also think about how you will pay the balance of your bill if you have just pre-paid the deposit. We withdrew cash via our VISA card to pay in SPF's and that was fine.

This was our second stay at Escale tropicale (first one 1 month, second one 3 weeks). This 5 stars accommodation is clean, lots of amenities, pleasant and well located. The hosts are very welcoming and give you many useful advises and tips. Free wifi, local mobile phone provided during the stay, cable TV. Definitely worth seeing and staying at.

We spent a week at Escale Tropicale and loved it. The villa has everything you need to self-cater, with plenty of kitchen gadgets and useful pantry essentials. A fully equipped laundry too and everything else really comfortable. Free wifi and a mobile plus phone card. The villa was very clean and well-maintained too - something I always appreciate in self-catering places. And beds comfy. Nice little outside seating area in the lovely tropical garden and gorgeous pool to keep kids happy. Along with the pool the 5 dogs provided endless entertainment. They come along to say hello numerous times a day and are happy to play fetch etc. My kids loved them! Christine and her family were very friendly and welcoming. Nice to be within a short drive of Noumea Sud for swimming, walking along the pretty bays etc, within a short drive of various supermarkets (as well as the one within walking distance) and easy access to the main roads out of Noumea if you want to go for a daytrip elsewhere on the island. I would certainly recommend Escale Tropicale to anyone wanting to see New Caledonia (and have already).

We have just returned from New Cal and thoroughly recommend this five star accommodation. Everything you need is in the villas, kitchens really well stocked with equipment andthere is a small supermarket and boulangerie at the bottom of the road to get your provisions from. We booked both villas and they are each as good as the other, we had a bbq enjoying the tropical evenings and the fab sausages from the nearby boucher and the pool is great, Had many visits from the dogs probably due to daughter happy to let them sit in her lap and the odd bit of sausage going their way. Would certainly recommend and would not hesitate to stay there agin

We stayed in the larger of the 2 lodgings which handled our family of 5 very nicely. Very clean , beds comfy and the walk in robes were ideal. The 2 bathrooms gave kids and adults their own space and living area was more than sufficient due to the two outdoor decks. Kitchen is practical and well appointed ( although pantry missing some handy ingredients ) and we enjoyed several home cooked dinners after being inspired by some of the French TV cooking shows. Could not fault our amazing host, Christine, who helped us book airport transfers and a hire car prior to arrival, introduced us to her beautiful dogs and even dropped in some warm muffins just when we needed them. Our girls loved the massive pool despite the weather being a bit cool on a few days. The location which is a 20 minute drive from the Centre Ville suited us just fine as we had a rental car the whole time. Of course, you don't need to drive to the local shops which include a delightful boulangerie ( they must have liked our attempts at French as we often were given freebies!) and a very well frequented supermarket. ( a mini Carrefour). We loved our time in Nouvelle Caledonie and would definitely use l'escale Tropicale as a base again if we returned for a wonderful tropical French experience.

We received such a warm welcome from Christine and her 4 canine friends! We loved the fully equipped cottage, everything had been provided. The setting is extremely peaceful, with a lovely private tropical garden. So glad we stayed here, rather than in the more "touristy" areas, we would recommend Escale Tropicale to anyone..

The Villa Crepuscule is a lovely, well set-up two bedroom villa set on a large beautiful tropical garden. It is beautifully decorated inside, with lots of extras like bath robes, satellite TV, internet, BBQ, and a good range of kitchen appliances and utensils. There is a nice pool, but the weather was a little too cool (for us) to use it. The owners, Christine and Marc (and their friendly dogs), live nearby and are extremely helpful and generous. Christine speaks very good English and was able to help us with lots of suggestions for family-orientated things to do and places to see. The village centre is just a few minutes away and has a bakery, a pharmacy and two supermarkets. It is a easy ~15 min drive into central Noumea or to the two main beaches. In summary, a quiet, relaxing luxury villa in a large tropical garden setting, ideal for couples or a family with two children like us.

"Azur' is a very beautiful and restful place to stay. It is impeccably clean, and very well equipped, with everything we needed. It has been very comfortably and thoughtfully furnished - a home away from home! The gardens are beautiful and peaceful - we loved turning into the quiet road at the end of a day. Christine is the perfect hostess, taking real pleasure in helping us to have the best experience possible. We thoroughly recommend it, and indeed we will be returning next year.
