I checked out at 4.30am on 11 Sept and was charged for the wrong room. I was told that they would refund me (and I assumed immediately). It is now 27 Sept and i am still waiting.... We have had an email saying the hotel would refund and supplied bank details but that was now 10 days ago. Still waiting....

Not recommended. Do not cater for English speaking people. Very hard to get around taxi takes over an hr to come. Reception staff not very helpful. Swimming pool closed without notification. Stay at another hotel. Very hard to book excursions unless you can speak French or read on website. Very frustrating. Clearly need to understand their customers better as we spoke to many English speaking guests who also very frustrated.

Spent 8 nights here, and we were very happy with the hotel and location. It's been 8 years since our previous stay, and the rooms have been renovated since. We were in a prestige suite, top floor, views are unobstructed and amazing. The water is clean in the lagoon, and a delight to swim in. No waves. The hotel pool was not crowded or filled with children, however the water is on the cool side. Strangely the pool gate is locked until 9am. Housekeeping is generally good. Due to the kitchenette in suites, you can self cater here, which may appeal to many, as Noumea is on the pricey side, which it has always been. The nearest larger supermarket Auchan, is a 30 minute walk, taxi cost 1 way is 1000XPF (around $12 Aus). We ate in the hotels L'Escale restaurant a few times, quality is good, but pricey ($100 AUS for 2 ceasar salads + 1 pizza). The aquatonic pool, costs extra, around $45 Aus for single entry, it was OK, but not something I would do again. The hotel staff are mostly friendly and helpful, and have a good command of English. We are likely to return next year to Noumea and this hotel.

Newly renovated, very comfortable, self catering rooms right on the beach. Pool area is large and on a lovely beach. Didn’t get to use the spa as was fully booked, so would recommend booking in advance before you arrive. We did not try out the dining restaurant, but did have a few lunch meals from the cafe next to the restaurant. I did feel that Australians maybe were given the not so nice rooms though, while French speaking tourists got the better rooms. We did not book the beach view rooms and they put us in a bedroom right over the vehicle drop off area for the hotel, which was quite noisy. Other than that all the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Most of the staff can speak fair English. Easy walk to Noumea. If you want to test out the best restaurants I would recommend book them in advance as they get full really quickly. Many of the restaurants are not open every night, so make sure you check. Most of the local people speak very little English, so we enjoyed practicing what little French we did know and loved the different culture. It was like having France on our doorstep.

We stayed here for seven nights. Not many options for meals if you don’t want to sit at the restaurant and want takeaway food. Food was just ok for the price paid. One thing that really got me was there was functions on two nights in a row at the bar and the music was blaring and people screaming till 2am - not good for paying hotel guests trying to sleep especially when you have children. The beach is beautiful and the staff are friendly and attentive. Pool was too cold to swim in. The hotel was very clean and the room was cleaned daily to a high standard.

Home away from home ! Fabulous accommodation on the edge of an amazing city! Enjoyed an ocean view apartment - so comfortable with the gentle ocean waves audible ! Then a short walk to the beachfront eateries and shops. Reception staff so friendly and helpful. Spa onsite was perfect due to rainy weather. Will come back!!

We spent 5 nights at Chateau Royal and it was wonderful. Many thanks to Alex who arranged for us to be able to have an extra night at very short notice when a storm disrupted our plans - extremely grateful. Chateau Royal had amazing facilities - beautiful rooms - the two-bedroom suites were excellent. The pool and outdoor areas are stunning, the beach is right on your doorstep and there's a great bar, restaurant, and spa on site. One of the nicest things was the staff who were all so friendly and helpful and went out of their way to accommodate us and our bare minimum french. We had a great time.

We spent five nights here and could not complain! It was a mini break for us and provided all the relaxation, local food and wine experiences that we could hope for. We did a mix of dining at the resort and also off site. Exceptional accommodation- all rooms being apartment style meaning you were not confined to just one room. The staff were exceptional - from the front desk, security to the restaurant and bar and the wine cave. Outstanding! We experienced the Aqua Tonic pool/hammam and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The main swimming pool was very cold at this time of year but fortunately the lagoon was still comfortable for swimming and just a few steps from the resort. There are many local shops, bars and restaurants so you can choose to dine in or leave the resort. Highly recommend

Really loved this hotel. As a family of 4 with 2 kids (12 & 10), the two bedroom suites are the perfect option. The hotel is right on the beach and has a smallish pool. Staff are all excellent and almost all speak good English. Noumea is small, so everything is within a 10 min drive. Lots of great restaurant options nearby. We live in Sydney, so noumea is a great chance to taste a bit of France in the warmth of the South Pacific. Highly recommended

Nice facilities and room was appropriate for our family including an infant. Pool was enjoyable but pool bar never open during our stay. Excellent check in services and cleaning staff. Somewhat disappointed in facilities - no massage booking for guests for the entire month of june (booking should be reserved for guests or at least advised it js hard to book) - no aquatic activity loans (for a venue on the beach, the ability to hire/ loan SUP’s, snorkelling gear ect) - restaurant bookings - unable to get a booking (again unsure why guests are not informed of the difficulty securing a reservation at time of booking). - check in staff/ cleaning staff are bilingual but most of the restaurant staff are not. - no infant high chair available (high chair provided allowed infant to slip through) - recommend bringing own high chair
