This was our second visit to awei metta. The first was in 2019 and I would give a full five stars. This time, we stayed there from 27-29 November and things were below our expectations. Both times we went there for staycation. As usual, our friends in town visited us for lunch on the 28th November. The front desk asked for identity card from one of them even though he was not staying overnight. I found it unnecessary to ask for the ID. And he happened to forget to take back the identity card from the front desk when he left the hotel in the evening. At night, we received a phone call to our room from the front desk. The first thing the staff asked was whether my friend has already left the hotel. That was a rude thing to say to the guests without any introduction. Only when I asked the reason, he told me that my friend hasn't taken back the identity card. When I said that my friend has left the hotel, he didn't sound convinced. So we went to the front desk immediately to take back my friend's identity card. The front desk guy asked us what time my friend left. It was a privacy breach to ask such questions to the guests. We felt like we were treated so rudely by that staff. So we asked him what he wanted to do and if he was going to give back the identity card. Then he gave it back without a smile or apologizing. We felt like we were being questioned for the crime.. Secondly, the internet connection was so slow that many times we couldn't stream the Netflix or YouTube on TV. Thirdly, we could hear the water pump sound so loud every time we used shower or toilet. For all the bad treatment, slow internet and loud sounds, we are giving only two stars rating this time round. These two stars are earned by good food and service provided by the bar and restaurant. Their staffs are super.

Received a gift voucher from my sis-in-law to stay at a Gary Player Suite. The rooms are wide and clean - the bathroom as well. Loved taking a shower there. The view is fantastic and it's just so relaxing to lie on the bed, take in the golf course scenery and just use your phone on the bed. Nice to chill. Although the hotel provided mosquito repellent liquid, mosquitoes just won't die there. It is a nice getaway place and there is a bar and a restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel. The lobby is in the open space, so you can just relax there with the cool breeze coming in from the golf course. I will blame Covid19 for not being able to enjoy a buffet breakfast at the hotel restaurant. The waiters just gave us a set menu to choose from. Try the Healthy Breakfast set. It is by far the best menu there. Not many guests during the Covid19 period but the waiters forgot to serve us coffee which was imcluded in the set menu. Conclusion: a nice quiet place to just chill (nothing else), there are two other restaurants / cafes nearby... and most importantly, prepare your own mosquito repellent spray, especially in the Monsoon Season as the mosquitoes are no joke!!

It’s easy to be tricked into thinking this hotel offers much more than it actually does. For a start. The hotel is as far from the city as can be while still being in Yangon. Looking on a map it doesn’t seem so bad but in reality It takes so long to get anywhere with the traffic. If you plan to go into the city you would be wise staying elsewhere. If you intend to play golf then this is a good choice but for anything else there really is no point. My friends and I don’t play golf and we were just bored. For a start the hotel does not have a swimming pool, gym or spa. What actually happens is you go across and use the facilities of the Pun Hlaing Estate. Here you will find a fairly nice pool full of screaming children. I’m told by friends that even the local school uses the pool for lessons. I didn’t actually witness this because the school is closed but I can only imagine. The rooms are very nice. At least mine was. I didn’t see any others. You have views over the golf course and a deck to sit outside but the smoke in the air from the surrounding villages was so overwhelming we couldn’t use any of the outside area without feeling sick. I believe this is normal for most of the year. The restaurant at the hotel looks very nice but service is so slow and confused. It’s no exaggeration when I say you will wait over half an hour for a drink if it comes at all. The product is certainly nothing special and you will pay a premium for the privilege. There are a lot of restaurants in Yangon these days that offer much better food and service for a fraction of the price. Do yourself a favour, stay in the city and visit these instead.

Super comfortable rooms and suites, every amenity was top notch. The service was excellent and this hotel is by far the most luxurious that we encountered in Yangon. It is situated about 45 minutes from downtown Yangon (its only drawback), but there is a very nice golf course on site.

We visited Awei Metta for the second time to unwind and relax. Just a 50-60 minute drive from Yangon, we arrived in the calming surroundings of Awei Metta set in the middle of the Pun Hlaing golf estate, where friendly staff greeted us with a delicious freshly made detox cocktail. The rooms at Awei Metta are something special. Spacious, practical, and beautifully designed. Our only problem was that there was not enough time to enjoy the spa, swimming pool, tennis court, the book corner with its neatly stacked wide variety of books, gym, cocktail bar, and restaurant. Strongly recommended!
