The Inya Lake Hotel, surrounded by 37 acres of verdant gardens, a serene lake resplendent with lotus, leafy trees and a free-shaped swimming pool offers the perfect retreat for guests to simply sit back and relax. Exploration of Yangon and the surrounding area is also a must and we would be delighted to arrange a variety of tours and excursions for you during your stay with a private guide.A 15-minute drive from the city centre, and 20 minutes from Yangon International Airport, the colonial styled hotel with its teakwood floors and oriental feel evokes charming memories of a by-gone era. The 185 guestrooms are decorated in retro style offering guests astonishing views over the city of Yangon and the Inya Lake.Experience the exotic delicacies of Myanmar, this secret tropical cuisine so redolent of the spices, textures and flavours of both this country and its neighbours. Unwind and enjoy the magic of sunset at the Lake View Bar or just relax at the Pool Bar. History Located on a 37-acre, verdant parcel, the Inya Lake hotel possesses a unique history. In an era of heightened tension between the Soviet Union and the United States, it became part of the Soviet's foreign policy to befriend third world countries like Myanmar [then known as Burma], especially as Myanmar in the late 1950ies governed by U Nu, was still a socialist country. In his 1958 state visit to Myanmar, Secretary General Nikita Khruschev presented the Government of Myanmar with three gifts; one of which was the Inya Lake hotel. It is claimed that Khruschev had a personal hand in the design of the free-form swimming pool that is one of the high-lights of the hotel The Inya Lake Hotel was a grand, impressive gesture to demonstrate the skills and technology of Russian engineers, architects and technicians who came and built what was described by the international media as the most modern hotel in Southeast Asia of that period. Construction was started in 1958 and the building was completed and opened for the first guests in October of 1962. Although the hotel was refurbished with modern facilities, the original building has remained much the same as it appeared when it was built with characteristic high ceilings in the spacious lobby, in the rooms, the "Mingalar Hall ' ball room as well as the Café

We stayed there for 4 days. The place is spotless clean, spacious rooms excellent food and real friendly staff. Internet is good and fast too, The frequent brown outs of Yangon are surpassed by own generators. A giant pool, but a 100-meter away from the main building. Anyway a good choice

This hotel located by beautiful Inyalake which was once landmark of once prosperous more international Yangon. The lake and the hotel’s walkway along the lake is still very beautiful and pleasant. They also have pool, gym, steam room and sauna, and tennis court. Hotel also have very nice lake view bar, cafe and restaurant. The cafe has nice pastries. Breakfast is normally a la cart style buffet that you can choose as much as you like, you can pick anything you like from variety of choice. I like they have good Italian coffee, fresh fruits, yogurt and selection of breads from own bakery in addition to local food. Staff are very pleasant from reception to housekeeping. They are all polite and attended. Especially staff at cafe and restaurant are very helpful. Some of the name I remember are Aye Aye Thu, Victoria, Aung Zin Ko Ko always help me in the morning rush hour to have two cappuccino with one take away or last minute birthday cake for my colleague. Mentioning these names does not mean others are not nice, they are all nice. In terms of rooms, they are rustic with teak furniture and charming colonial style. I like they have yellow dim lights in every room as signature apart from one room, 402, unfortunately tasteless white neon light like in cheap apartment with cables destroying the charm. This is the only thing I don’t like at this hotel but all other rooms I stayed before are nice but also note my standard is set as Hilton gold member and frequent travellers around the world.

I have been staying at this most lovely hotel for nearly 20 years - every time I come to Yangon. The front desk staff with Myat Noe, Yin Yin, Ahkar, the bell boys and all other employees will immediately make you feel at home. The rooms are spacious and most with a large balcony overlooking the beautiful tranquil Inya lake or looking out to the Shwedagon pagoda in the distance. I love their spacious garden with it's gorgeous large swimming pool and of course the sunset bar from where you can enjoy stunning sunsets over the lake whilst sipping your gin tonic. The location is also very useful situated only a short drive from the airport but it's likewise not far to head into the city centre.Suki and his wife Carrie make every guest feel welcome and will do their utmost best to give you a great experience and stay! I am always sad to leave but will be back for sure!
