We stayed for 3 nights just before xmas and had a truly wonderful stay at this absolutely beautiful hotel. It is small enough to feel quite personal and the service is genuinely 1st class. Our room ( a junior suite ) was huge and with a bed to match. Breakfast ( a la carte ) was delicious if slightly slow....

We had high expectations for our stay at the Strand and these were more than fulfilled. We received a warm welcome in the beautifully decorated lobby and there is a strong sense of history throughout the hotel. Our room was amazing and the butler service made our stay even more pleasant. Breakfast is a story all to itself - great...

Amazing country, amazing people, amazing hotel! The Strand has just been renovated but retains all the charm and ambience of its former glory - those solid teak doors! History is oozing out of the very floors, walls and doors - the colonial past, the Japanese occupation, the independence and the recent 'opening up' of this resilient nation and people. Staying...

Went there on a Friday night for happy hour cocktails...The cocktail that I had was good. Good place to chill out and "be seen"...filled with foreigners probably due to the price of the drink even after the discount.

We stopped by The Strand and Sarkie's Bar while on Lonely Planet's colonial Rangoon walk. Simply sensational hotel. Lobby is full of old photos. Sarkie's cocktails were world-class. Try the Pegu Club. It's extremely refreshing after walking through Yangon's heat.

We just had a drink here. Great hotel, very stylish. Can't say anything about the rooms, but it looked great and the location is primo. The foyer is very classy. Not the place to stay if you're looking for a bargain.

All the 5* reviews since the hotel reopened give an accurate picture which I can confirm. We stayed at The Governors Residence at the beginning of our Myanmar tour and The Strand at the end. We wanted to check out both as each has its own character and both were excellent choices but we felt that The Strand has the...

The Strand is a remarkable hotel for it's history, location, renovation, and service. It is in the middle of the historical downtown and has many interesting (history and architecture) buildings nearby, and is a good place to begin exploring the city. Taxis to anywhere are cheap and, despite traffic being a bit of an issue (allow extra time to get...

Having thoroughly enjoyed a previous stay last year, we returned with pleasure just after the re-opening after renovations which have maintained all the charm of this colonial hotel whilst at the same time making it feel that much more comfortable with a warm and intimate atmosphere (finished tour groups walking in and out of entrance and bar, has made a...

We didn't stay in the hotel but had lunch there one day and the local afternoon tea another. The service is impeccable and has the right balance between staff attention and being left to enjoy your meal, The architecture of this colonial building is stunning and it is worth spending some time looking at the photos around the walls. We...
