I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Vision. When I arrived my reservation had been canceled (not by the hotel) and I found myself with nowhere to stay. The staff were very kind and gave me a room at a discount to help me out because I had very little money in my budget. They checked in with me to make...

Best value for price paid. Old hotel but clean and spacious room compared to surrounding hotel/motel. Good for business stay. Not fancy or luxury but provided comfortable bed and clean room. Free WiFi but I already rent a portable WiFi from airport, so haven't try. Tv have so many channels to choose from. Lots of restaurants and store nearby, some...

This place makes all Best Westerns look bad. Carpets were terribly dirty because Koreans don't know how to maintain carpets. Staff didn't speak much beyond hello in English even though it was supposedly foreigner friendly as advertised. Restaurant was closed all weekend so no room service for food. More than half the outlets didn't work to charge electronics. There was...

Only 5 minutes walk to metro station at Wangsimni Station where you can take metro line no. 2 and 5. Besides that also train, Gyeongchun line(? not sure). Even you are new to Seoul, you can take airport luminsine bus 6010 to reach there. E-mart is in the vicinity and even the travellers in Dongdaemun have to come here if...

The only good thing is the location of the hotel is not too far away from Metro Station and the male receptionist can speak a little bit English.....which is not common in Korea. However the impression given during our stay was: This is a very old and tired hotel that you won't be interest to go back again. The entrance...

Vision hotel is just a short walk away from the subway station Wangsimni exit 2. There’s also an airport transfer service nearby, but that you would have to lug your luggage across 3 busy, uneven roads. And you have to tackle the front steps of the hotel too. I’m sure quite there are hotels who have airport transfer service just...

10 min walk from Wangsimni station, hotel location is pretty good. There are some restaurants around, but maybe it's better to visit Wangsimni station for more selections. Price was amazing (with discount on agoda). For cheap motel price, we got decent real hotel room with good WiFi, which was pretty fast. I will definitely come back if they have another...

Despite the close proximity to Wangsimni station, there is quite a lot of stairs to overcome before reaching the hotel, hence it is not recommended for backpackers. The facilities is average. However, the breakfast is really not nice, and it is quite expensive, ard 10 USD for a western breakfast. The porter is not very friendly, and the internet connection...

We came to Seoul on a travel tour, so the hotel was included in the package. A van took us from the airport to the hotel, so I wouldn't know how hard it is to find on your own (although it does seem a bit complicated as the driver had trouble finding it the first time). The room was small,...

Staying in Gwanghwamun / Jongno

Neighbourhood Profile
Gwanghwamun / Jongno
If Gwanghwamun is the unofficial living room of Seoul, Jongno is the main hallway connecting some of Seoul’s most important historic sites and neighbourhoods. Being one of Seoul’s oldest neighbourhoods, the area is rich with history and culture in its palaces, shrines, and temples. Stand in the centre of Gwanghwamun Square with Gyeongbokgung Palace and Mt. Bugak in front of you, King Sejong the Great statue behind you, and modern office buildings encircling you—it’s one of the best ways to experience both past and present Seoul in one spot. The main street of Jongno is mostly dotted with restaurants and cafes, but explore deeper within its intricate alleys to pass decades-old restaurants, mom-and-pop shops, and pojangmachas (tents that open at night for quick bites and drinks) and life seems to run just as it did a decade or two ago. Don’t forget to stop at Gwangjang Market, Korea’s oldest traditional market, where it’s just as fun to explore as it is to eat the affordable market dishes that locals have been enjoying since the market first opened in 1905. For a break from urban life, walk along the restored Cheonggyecheon Stream that runs parallel to Jongno for a moment of natural refuge in metropolitan Seoul.
