My partner and I stayed here on our 4-days trip to Seoul. Great location -- with easy access to trains/busses as well as tourists attractions. We booked a double room which was just nice for us -- yes the bathroom is a bit small but no issue there at all. Bed was comfortable, free breakfast provided (just prepare for it...

The location is very convenient and the staffs are helpful! There are a convenience store and supermarket nearby. However, the room and washroom are quite small. Also, the rubbish bin is too small that we need to throw the rubbish everyday. I love the decoration of common room. It is lovely.

This place is at a great location, as great restaurants, tourist spots, and the train and bus stations are all within walking distance. The rooms are clean and well-heated for the winter, and the beds comfortable. Plus points for the napkin holders they use in B1. Speaking of which, you get free breakfast there, with bread, peanut butter, jam, and...

We had a great stay at this place. It is close to the different tourist sites and there is that street nearby where the restaurants serve excellent barbecue (and soju). The rooms are clean, and the staff very friendly and helpful. Jordan Moon is an exceptional host/guide who gave us great tips on what places to visit and where to...

The hostel's location is very central, close to palaces, markets and restaurants. The subway is just a 300 m-walk so it's very convenient for tourists. Safety is not an issue, we feel very safe wandering the streets late at night.

Staying in Gwanghwamun / Jongno

Neighbourhood Profile
Gwanghwamun / Jongno
If Gwanghwamun is the unofficial living room of Seoul, Jongno is the main hallway connecting some of Seoul’s most important historic sites and neighbourhoods. Being one of Seoul’s oldest neighbourhoods, the area is rich with history and culture in its palaces, shrines, and temples. Stand in the centre of Gwanghwamun Square with Gyeongbokgung Palace and Mt. Bugak in front of you, King Sejong the Great statue behind you, and modern office buildings encircling you—it’s one of the best ways to experience both past and present Seoul in one spot. The main street of Jongno is mostly dotted with restaurants and cafes, but explore deeper within its intricate alleys to pass decades-old restaurants, mom-and-pop shops, and pojangmachas (tents that open at night for quick bites and drinks) and life seems to run just as it did a decade or two ago. Don’t forget to stop at Gwangjang Market, Korea’s oldest traditional market, where it’s just as fun to explore as it is to eat the affordable market dishes that locals have been enjoying since the market first opened in 1905. For a break from urban life, walk along the restored Cheonggyecheon Stream that runs parallel to Jongno for a moment of natural refuge in metropolitan Seoul.
