Just returned (Jan'12) from 2 weeks in Cairo & Luxor. "Wake Up" Hostel excellent value for price, location, cleanliness & staff helpfulness. Cairo quite safe & restful. Problems in Luxor though: terrible "first class" overnight Cairo-Luxor train..filthy, rickety, unheated. Fly instead. Book while there, much cheaper.Luxor terribly commercialised, full of hustle-hassel. Make it a one day turnaround, or 1 night...

This hostel is one of my favourite hostels ever. It is very central with great links to public transport and amazing views over Cairo. But what really makes this hostel so good is the STAFF all of them were FANTASTIC with us. I would suggest using the airport pickup service they offer as the hostel may be a Iittle hard...

I stayed at the Wake Up! Cairo hostel in July for 3 nights. The location is great (very close to the Egyptian museum), but the real treasure is the people. The staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. You will feel like you are visiting friends. They arranged for Mohammed to take me to the Pyramids on an all day excursion...

Nice hostel, well located, 2 minutes from the Egyptian Museum and the River Nile, right next door to the Tahir Place and his subway. The rooms are nice and all with A.C, u can also choose for the dormitory which is cheaper. Staff is friendly and welcoming, even funny !! Breakfast is basic but O.K. Lots of facilities. Nice view...

Stayed here during July 2011. Safe, comfortable hotel with lots of staff about ready to answer your questions. Good rooms, clean shared bathrooms. Slight issue is the hotel is located in a slightly shabby office block, from the entrance to the hotel onward it is an excellent hotel but loses a point due to the office block (lifts work but...

My friend and I stayed here for a few nights and loved it. The location is perfect! You can easily walk to the museum and the shopping street, Teleet Herb Street comes alive in the evenings. Be sure to go to el Abd for ice cream and sweets! Head to Marof Street and have kosheri (a favorite local dish) at...

If you are looking for a very clean, homely rooms at the right price then this is definitely a great contender. It is conveniently located 2 minutes walk away from the museum and 4 minutes from Tahrir square. The staff are certainly very friendly and can speak good English. The individual rooms are very well kept especially for the price...
