b4 arriving i had a lot of apprehension b/c the research i have done shows that 4 star hotels in cairo does not equal 4 star hotels in N.America and i couldnt afford to go 5stars plus i had my 4 yr old child. There were 8 of us and we reserved 1 suite w/2 bedrms & another room w/2...

Rooms are fine. Nice and clean but a bit dated. Bathrooms likewise. Breakfast was pretty good though. Liked the location in Zamalek and felt perfectly safe wandering around Cairo. Was a bit noisy due to the traffic outside but i bet every hotel in Cairo suffers this problem. All in all, quite happy at £40 per night and considering the...

On arrival to Cairo after 20 hours of traveling , the first room we were given was so dirty that the bathroom was unusable. It was extremely noisy from 24 hour honking of cars talking with each other. The hotel is located beside a major road where is crosses over the Nile. At 1.00 a.m. the hotel started construction and...

Arriving at night we had a great view of across the river, mosque and skyline of Cairo! It was a little noisy with honking horns but we learned that never went away! I found the staff...

I have just come back from a week in Egypt. I stayed in Om Kolthoom for 1 night whilst in Cairo. When we initially checked in, the staff said he did not have 2 rooms available together so gave us in two different floors but promised we would have them by evening. We went to ask them again and he...

Om Kolthoom could be considered as an appropriate option only if you (like we were during our trip to Cairo) want to save money, making the journey without needless splurge. The problem with Cairo accommodation is that between $85/night (what we paid) and ~$180/night (next available option which is Hilton & Marriott) there is no hotels at all if you...

An excellent hotel in an ideal location. Although the rooms were basic, the service of the staff was easily 5*. At one stage my wife required some medicine for a mosquito bite, on enquiring in the lobby, the duty manager contacted a chemists, arrranged delivery and within ten minutes I had the medicine, all for a total cost of 60p!...
