Luxor is a tale of two cities. The East side of Nile is (historically) more developed and like a medium size city. The West side of Nile is the valley of the dead, so its basically a village, all with crops, dirt roads and horse / camel stables. Most of the attractions (except for the Karnak and Luxor temples) are on the West side, and there is only one bridge to cross the Nile. The location of the bridge is very inconvenient. That's why we decided to stay on the West side. Alhambra is a nice hotel in the middle of a very rural setting. The hotel is nice considering the price you pay. Staff is very cooperative. We added the breakfast to our stay which was cheap. The rooms were clean, but not like a 5 star hotel. There was no iron or ironing board, so if you need to iron your clothes, you need to drop them at a (nearby) laundry store. The hotel looks just like the pictures from inside, but its on a small dirt road, with a couple of other similar hotels. Overall its a good budget option on the west side of the Nile.

This hotel is a good value for money, offering transportation to and from the airport and to tourist destinations. Mohamed suggested a delightful restaurant in the neighborhood for us, which we returned to each day we were in town. We flew out in the evening, and the team let us hang onto the room so that we could store our belongings and come back to shower and rest before going to the airport. Overall, a lovely place with a hospitable team.

If you want characterful but quality budget friendly accomodation on the west bank in Luxor then this is an excellent choice. It's set in an urban neighhourhood approximately seven minutes walk from the ferry and the owners and team there work hard to make your stay a comfortable one. The room I had wasn't luxurious by any means but it was spacious and clean and the wifi is both fast and stable.

We are a family of four looking for a place for one night before we got on a boat. This place is on the West Bank of the Nile and it is beautiful. The host Mohammed is so kind and courteous and gave us hot mint tea when we arrived. The evening manager walked us to the Africa restaurant near the river. The hotel is located in a more residential area so it’s quiet and you won’t get as much hassle. We had a two bedroom suite it was huge and wonderful with each room having its own bathroom with plenty of hot water. The breakfast is fantastic with ful and falafel and cheese and omelets. Wake up early to see the hot air balloons over the Valley of the Kings and the sunrise over the Nile. Also, the hotel can arrange a custom tour at a reasonable price. Really great for us since we only had one day.

It’s located at the Westbank, very close to the Pier... the Ferry coats only 5EP (0,20 Cents ) and it’s a very cozy and clean hotel! Breakfast is amazing/ nice rooms with a balcony to the patio! The owners are excellent and help you with everything, also with good recommendations for restaurants (Africa) if you want to travel cheap but with standard that might be the perfect place to stay in Luxor! It’s close to all the sites and just a 5 minute walk from the pier.
