My husband and I had an amazing safari experience here! The staff is soooo great! They are super kind and attentive and most welcoming! They really made our experience an amazing one. HUGE shout out to our safari guide "Eagle Eye" Simon! He truely has an eagle eye and was able to spot EVERYTHING! And from so far! He got... More

I was absolutely amazed at the whole experience of staying at the Royal Mara Safari Lodge! I found this place through trip advisor and really wanted to recommend it to others. First of all, I was a little nervous at the process of paying for our stay. Doing a wire transfer is not common in the US and because of... More

What a place - totally open - no fences !! Hippos wander through at night. If you want to go to the dining room from your lodge you have to blow a whistle and a ranger (with a gun) will come and collect you. Electricity goes off at night - supplied with torches - all sorts of animal noises at... More

Royal Mara - Absolutely lives up to its name. From the cottages to hospitality to game drives and food, the folks at Royal Mara make sure that guests are treated with utmost care. I had such a fantastic time here, that only a detailed feedback would do justice to this one of a kind jungle retreat. Initial communication and reservation... More

Wow, what a place! Absolutely loved it! This is truly a different kind of place to stay and a brilliant place to spot wildlife in the Masai Mara. All of the staff were fantastic, that very rarely happens, but everybody made us feel so welcome, they were very friendly and very proud of the lodge and the wildlife. They clearly... More

This was our 2nd visit to both the Mara North Conservancy and the Royal Mara Lodge. We rarely come back to the same place, but we had such an amazing time in October 2013 that we decided to come back again and we were not disappointed. The people and personal service that you get is what makes the Royal Mara... More

We had a fabulous experience at the Royal Mara. To be honest, we were not certain when we booked - the lodge which we really wanted to stay at (great reputation and came highly recommended) was not available. Turned out to be a stroke of luck! First of all, this is not a lodge - it's a tented camp -... More

Hi I have read many excellent reviews which provide a detailed picture of this amazing place.. We were privileged to stay for 10 days! on our honeymoon. I have stayed at luxury lodges and my wife had previously stayed in the Mara. The 'luxury' element may be very slightly less than the very expensive lodges and the food ( which... More

It's hard to know where to start, as everything was absolutely perfect! We did an extensive research for hotels in the Maasai Mara. We chose Royal Mara for several reasons: (1) the price includes EVERYTHING and additional activities such as visiting the Maasai village or the rhino sanctuary are inexpensive ($20/person) while other hotels wanted to charge $100 for extra... We were not expecting tented accommodation having seen the keyword lodge. On arrival processed very efficiently and shown to our tent. Beautiful hand carved furniture, plenty of space and amenities that would put many hotels to shame. I can only endorse the comments of "Carol P" who has written it up splendidly. Our driver guide was Emmanuel who by origin... More
