This hostel made us move room 2 times in 4 nights for their own reasons. There was a different smell in each room, one smelled badly of cigarettes. Some staff were rude and unwilling to help with the inconvenience of moving rooms twice. Will not...More
For the price of a private room at 400 yuan a night, you can do waaaaayyy better. Watch out for mozzies in the room. Also found a baby roach crawling on the blanket one evening. But if all you are after is the backpackers vibe,...More

I went on the day-trip to the Mutianyu part of the Great Wall when I stayed at Sanlitun in January 2016. It was a nice day. You get breakfast in the hostel in the morning, and then you board a tour bus with participants from other hostels as well. It takes you straight to the Wall, and has an English speaking guide who explains the day schedule and knows a lot about the Great Wall. You are free to spend your time at Mutianyu as you wish, as long as you get back to the bus in time. Before leaving, a lunch is served in a restaurant near the bus stop.
I recommend going, it's a convenient way to go see the Great Wall.
