When we wanted somewhere authentic-looking to stay for our 4 nights in Beijing to start our trip to China, the Imperial Courtyard certainly seemed to fit the bill. We checked in just after midnight and were told that the double room we'd booked was not available until the following day, so it would be a twin room for the first...

This hotel is not for families with four persons in one room. Take two doubles! The description of the room was not right. The Double room Luxury that supposed to be 40m2 was 22m2. There is no view from the room, except looking into the courtyard. The view from the roof is only some buildings. Nothing to see. I wanted...

It wasn't my plan to stay here. My travel agent messed up the booking at the Double Happiness Courtyard Hotel and booked my five-night stay here instead. First the good: Comfortable, large bed Good air conditioning Located in the interesting Hutong area The staff tries Probably great for Chinese guests. (I'm the only foreigner here) The peeling wallpaper has been...

When arrived at the lanes nearby we doubted if we had made the wrong choice. But once entered it changed our mind. Surprised that the hotel is so close to the Wudaoying Hutong, an area where many old house or courtyards are well preserved. Staff are friendly and helpful. The owner Lan even pressed the shirts for me knowing i...

Imperial Courtyard Hotel is located inside the Hutong area, around 15 minutes walk from Andingmen subway station. The entrance to the hotel isn't easy to find. It isn't facing the main road, but facing a small alley branching from the main road. A sign board along the main road had helped us to locate it. Once inside the hotel, we...

I booked to go to China, Beijing on my own as a vacation, shying away from Westernised hotels in favour of something more traditional to truly experience the Chinese lifestyle, The Hotel is extremely clean and tidy and maintained daily, What struck me most is how friendly the staff were, They took it upon themselves to make sure I got...

This hotel was a unique experience with a beautiful sunlit eating area, a rooftop overlooking the neighbourhoods of Beijing (with the added entertainment of a few cats in the distance) and bedrooms decorated with the authentic Chinese experience always considered. The highlight of this hotel, however, was the extremely friendly and committed staff, who put in genuine extra effort to...

My room was small with a large single bed, but had everything I need. Very clean, large shower with clean towels and shower shoes. Free wifi. Very peaceful. The hotel was very authentic and worth taking pictures of; gorgeous lanterns everywhere and lost of posted information around the main floor to help you get around.

This hotel was quaint and full of character, transporting us to an exotic, other-worldly place. The online photos of the red-painted stair rails are accurate. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us and there was always at least one person with very good English. The room furnishings were a little 'tired' and the bathroom was basic but...
