Neighbourhood
Tsim Sha Tsui
Tsim Sha Tsui is one of the major tourist and shopping areas of Hong Kong. With a high concentration of hotels, retail shops and commercial offices – it’s a busy and bustling neighbourhood that never sleeps. On the surface, Tsim Sha Tsui seems to only feature an abundant number of high-end retail stores selling designer brands and jewelry, owing to its popularity with high-budget shopping tours. However, it also contains a diverse range of attractions for the entire family. Whether taking a walk in Kowloon Park, exploring museums, going shopping or grabbing a bite to eat – Tsim Sha Tsui has something for everyone.

Too small and uncomfortable. The building where is located is really ugly and people harass you as you walk in, did not make me feel safe at all. The only good thing is that it was cheap and close to the metro.

Accommodation in Hong Kong is very expensive and as a solo traveler I was simply looking for somewhere to rest my head which I found in Maple Leaf! Downstairs in Chungking Mansion is very off putting for a girl traveling solo with shop-owners hawking their goods and in your face

You can get there in 3 ways from Hong Kong Internation Airport : a) Airport bus - A21 / N21 (midnight), it takes about 50 minutes, HK$33. Please get off at the 14th bus stop (middle Road/Nathan Road) (a 30 second walk Chungking Mansion at the right hand side. b) Taxi - It takes about 45 minutes, around HK$250. Get off at Chungking mansion main entrance. Please take the red coloured taxi, because the other colours don't go to the Kowloon area. c) Airport Express (AEL)/Railway. It takes about 25 minutes, HK$90. Get off at Kowloon Station, then take the shuttle bus #K3, get off at Holiday Inn Golden Mile (Hotel)(1 min walk to Chungking Mansion). I'm not sure if they have storage for luggages at the airport, but in the hostel, there's none. When you arrived at HKIA, you get an Octopus card for your convenience in doing public transpo, and load it up. Octopus card are available in Adult, Elder, Child and Personalised versions. There is also a single journey tickets in the train station, but I suggest you get your own Octopus card and load it up.

"Ensure you do not have a late arrival and do not mind be harrassed by Indian vendors."
"No views available, no real differences between the rooms."
"Be prepared for tight accomodations, but if you want an affordable room in a convenient location, this is a great option."
"When you get into chungking mansion, get in, don't stop for the people trying to sell you stuff in front, have the number of the elevator and the floor memorized, find the right elevator, watch out, for each section (A, B, C...) you get 2 elevators going to odd and even floors. If you're not to hig up, you can take the stairs.... sometimes the elevators are slow, and full, you might have to wait a while."
