My wife and I had a three day staycation at the Upper House which was the first time we stayed there since the hotel opened 10 or more years ago.We had visited many times during that period mainly to dine at Café Gray. It has only gotten better which is saying something. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a beautiful room and the hotel has not lost its inimitable cool calm and collected luxury feel. The food and wine at Cafe Gray's recent reinvention , Salisterra, was exceptional only outdone by the professional yet relaxed service style of the dedicated staff. What more could you ask for?
Returning to the Upper House after three months time for another birthday stat. Still, the team are spectacular! Especially the guest experience team: Kay, Paul and Sharon, they recognised me and gave me warm welcome, made me feel like home! Great to have Janice check us in again, she is so nice and professional, knowing our preference and scheduled our itinerary very well! Definitely will be coming back again!
We had a doubt on Staycation - as we had bad experiences in some luxurious hotels in the city, imagine the long check-in / check-out queue at the lobby like you are queuing in banks, duration to wait-for-room after registration, etc. We still gave a try to The Upper House and were delighted that we had made the right choice, and had a truly relaxing Staycation. No queue at the lobby, a big plus - There was no queue upon our arrival. Kingston at the entrance friendly (and immediately) greeted and escorted us to the room. There was no queue again upon our departure. Both the arrival and departure process were smooth and attentive. Special thanks to K Ma, Paul and Kingston who keep sharing their sincere care, that had definitely enhanced our house experience. Luxurious hospitality is not standardized but customized, and The Upper House has truly demonstrated it- Upon arrival, Kingston noticed we are candle lovers. He gifted us a hotel candle by hand (not by another department or another staff member) in the lobby when he met us one evening. We were surprised that he remembered our preference. Kingston offered us welcome drinks upon our arrival. As we had plans after checking in, we could not enjoy it until evening. We then tried to ask if we could enjoy the drinks at night. Instead of saying a no, or “Let me check”, he immediately acknowledged and offered us to have drinks at their bar at night. The high flexibility made us feel we were cared for. We planned to walk to another hotel in Wan Chai for a spa treatment. Edward noticed we were going on foot and it was quite a distance. He offered us a car transfer by hotel limousine. It was an unbelievably impressive gesture. The car journey was nice and thank Edward for the nice offer. He is a customer-oriented hotelier who always thinks from customers’ point of view. Every time we passed by the lobby, every staff member was trying to ensure we were having a nice stay and great day. They are human (unlike the robotic front desk staff in other hotels) and were more like our friends instead of a staff-guest relationship. We had a lot of convo with K Ma and Coly who were extremely friendly and talkative. To those who had a doubt on staycation in Hong Kong, like us, we highly recommend you to stay at The Upper House.…
Came over for a one night staycation at the Upper House, and would like to highlight a team member in particular, Sharon. She took great and meticulous care of us during our stay, and was overall a very pleasant experience, thank you team, and Sharon!
