I stayed here 20 years ago on a business trip, and revisited in mid December 2014. The standards throughout the hotel are just as I remember from then, excellent in every way. The Captains Bar just to the right of the main entrance has a great atmosphere & many locals use it as a rendezvous, The rooms are spacious and...

Quite simply the best designed hotel room I have ever stayed in anywhere in the world! Rooms are not that large - but the thought that has gone into each area to maximise its use and comfort is simply excellent and provides just what you need - THOROUGHLY recommended !

In a word, perfect. I have spent at least a half dozen nights at this hotel, and every experience has been flawless. People complain that you can't find good bread in Hong Kong; they have never eaten in this hotel. The baked goods uniformly are heavenly. It's all a bit understated, except the chilled pewter beer steins in the bar,...

This hotel is always perfect . Large rooms, excellent showers , and comfortable beds . Plus a great ambiance of colonial Hong Kong . The Hermes bath soap is lovely . Service is always excellent . Concierge is always knowledgable and sends me to the best new restaurants . A good concierge is almost a lost art , but not...

I have written about the Mandarin Oriental often. And so you would be forgiven to think that I have nothing else to say. Not so! This hotel is nothing short of perfection. I am partway through another four day stay and I want for nothing. The rooms are immaculate with every little luxury you could imagine. Yes there are all...

We has spent New year there, it was great fun. Food is delicious. The hotel is a bit outdated, and the pool is rather small. There are number of restaurants in the hotel, although most of them do't allow baby in. The location is great if you like shopping. We got the room facing the harbor, so we can see...

My boyfriend surprised me by checking us into the Mandarin. The room was perfect, the staff were impeccable, the whole experience was amazing. After we got back from lunch, we came back to the room where i found a dozen red roses, chocolates, a cold bottle of champagne and some beautiful details. Perfection. We had a drink up at the...

I normally travel to HK on business and have stayed at the Mandarin Oriental on two ocassions. I enjoyed my stay thoroughly. The hotel is centrally located and within 5-7 minutes walking distance from the HK Express Station. The MTR station is also within a minute's walk from the hotel, making it very easy to travel within the city. The...

I am tempted to say the only reason to visit Hong Kong now that it's become so expensive and soul-less. This group has a reputation for excellence and this particular hotel does not disappoint in any area. The level of service is second to none , from reception , through to concierge , restaurants and housekeeping. The barber shop also...

Staying in Central

Neighbourhood Profile
Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
