I stayed at the Excelsior because the conference I attended was booked there and would recommend it to anyone traveling for business in this area. The room was generous and they upgraded me. The facilities are fit for purpose (gym, etc) and the proximity to restaurants is great.

HOTEL’S FAVOURITE REVIEW

We have stayed at the Excelsior Hotel many times. To begin.... yes the hotel bedrooms are dated, we have photographs from 2001 and the room furniture is the same, but it doesn't matter if they are as this is a great hotel. The rooms are comfortable and have great harbour views. The restaurant on the first floor and the Dickens...

The staff were friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is great with lots to see and do within walking distance. The selection of food available at lunch was great. I didn't have breakfast there. My room was quite dated.

Refurbished room makes the hotel looks newer and better. The service provided is good and location is strategic. Would recommend to provide better choice of bathing amenities choices (I.e shower gel/shampoo/conditioner).

Our room has view of bay, big bay window is quite nice, room is clean and quite roomy, deco is old though. Location is excellent, close to subway, shops and eateries are around corner, very convenient. Staff are friendly and willing to help. Breakfast is buffet style, lots of choices, sometimes it's packed, food is average buffet quality. The hotel...

An older hotel to many in Hong Kong but it retains the old fashioned personal service. The best rooms are the harbour view rooms on the upper floors. The hotel is only about 2 minutes walk to the Mass transit Railway (MTR), about 3 minutes from the buses and the very cheap and old fashioned trams.

I stayed here during a business trip leading up to the Chinese New Year weekend. The rooms are very clean and the Superior room I had was spacious by Hong Kong standards. The décor is starting to look a little dated and showing slight signs of wear, but is acceptable. However, the reason for the 5 stars is the service....

This hotel was busy, so breakfast and lunch were always a bit of a battle with other guests to get food. Food was good with a varied buffet. Rooms ok but view disappointing. Conferencing facilities good and served well by staff. Good location and easy to get to MTR.

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centres of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
