HOTEL mentioned at check in that because of renovation work there would be some noise at parts of the hotel. It turned out this meant a team of workers would be banging and drilling directly above my bed/desk area for the entire day, room was "too loud to think" let alone talk on the phone, read etc. It is unscrupulous and absurd for Marriott, to sell rooms under these conditions. When I complained at the front desk, management said I could use business center for calls and doing work! The window was covered in scaffolding with debris hitting the windows, by the way (see image). I left for another hotel after two nights of six nights even though this was a nonrefundable reservation. This situation was particularly ridiculous given the presence of nice hotels where I fully expect this never would have occurred at a similar price range in the area! The people seemed courteous but this was needless to say overshadowed.

Sheraton Hong Kong is going through some major renovation, which I 100% agree that the hotel is desperately needed. I will let the pictures speak for itself. The room is really dated in terms of decor, but is spacious though. Most of the hardware is really out of date and one of my inhouse phones barely worked. I had to use the phone on bedside to make a few local calls, that the hotel charges me. The bathroom is actually okay if you like a bathtub, but without the bathtub, the sink area will be more spacious. I am sure the hotel will address that issue during its current renovation. The hotel has warned me about noise but the construction often started earlier than stated on the memo sent to guests. Just because you are not drilling, it does not mean that there are no noise at all. The hotel needs to reinforce the time for construction to take place. The gym is actually the nicest part, as it is clearly a branch of a major fitness centers in Hong Kong. The hotel also features a nice Chinese restaurant - Imperial Treasure and Morton's Steakhouse, but I will avoid the Japanese restaurant. The location of the hotel is really excellent as it is closed to various shopping malls, cultural venues, transportation hubs and restaurants. I hope the hotel's renovation will work out and improve the status of the hotel. As of now, I will hesitate to return to the hotel anytime soon. Also don't stay here till the renovation is completed.

Pros Good location Cigar lounge at first floor Good Chinese restaurant Good location next to MTR, K11 and star ferry Some of the staff are really excellent and at the standards expected (some at the front desk and that one more experienced buffet restaurant manager lady who is at the entrance of the restaurant are excellent) but others need more training Cons Room service needs to be offered later (not stop at 11pm) Breakfast stops at 10:30am on weekend which is way too early (should be 11:00 or 11:30am) Gym and pool are small (as you would expect from a hotel at such a prime location) I am a Titanium Elite member but they told me that I can only spend 1 hour at the executive lounge on the weekend during happy hour which is frankly insulting

Do not confuse this as a quarantine hotel, I am a Royal Ambassador of Intercontinenal, Diamond member of Hilton Group, Diamond of Shangrila and of all the hotels I stay normally, Sheraton Hong Kong came as a great surprise. It might be an older hotel but the room are upgraded and the service is superb. There is nothing the staff won’t do for you and while they cannot keep physical contact it is easy by phone. they They leave your food in the door, ring and remind you your parcels arrived. i never have to do my washing but with Sheraton kowloon U don’t mind because the staff us so pleasant. Good staff start from good management so I wrote a thank you note to Michael Issenberg, given the difficulties he deserves a 3 grade promotion!

We’re 7 days into a 21 day quarantine which, let’s be honest, nobody likes or would ever choose to do voluntarily. We were nervous but our stay in Sheraton has been much more pleasant than we could have anticipated so far. People are apprehensive, annoyed and, in some cases, scared to do a long period of quarantine which must be strange for hotels used to relaxed and happy customers staying to relax and have fun, so the bar for enjoying a quarantine stay is set artificially pretty high. We think it has been met and there is nothing that we can complain about so far. We have been absolutely delighted by the food (which we unexpectedly plan our day around). The best so far have been the Thai veg curry, tandoori chicken meal, smoked salmon pasta and seafood Tom yum spaghetti. We brought lots of vitamins as we were worried about that but we have had an abundance of fresh fruit, veg, salad, yoghurt and fresh grapefruit, apple and orange juice. Anything that we have asked for has been delivered quickly and with no fuss (a dehumidifier, fresh bed linen and ice among a few requests)! Deliveries from shops and friends have arrived lightening quickly. Our friend dropped a parcel two nights ago and the staff asked if it was hot food that had to be delivered straight away or if it could wait five minutes. It wasn’t food and it came five minutes later. The WiFi is incredibly stable which for which we have been incredibly grateful with lots of Zoom calls and FaceTime and emails and Netflix. We really like that we are limited in space so housekeeping haven’t stocked the room full of things (toilet rolls, water, tea, coffee etc) that we are able to easily order each day (they have a simple but effective app)! My absolutely favourite thing is strangely how courteous and thoughtful the staff who deliver and collect from our corridor are as, in most hotel stays we hear corridor noise and are frequently woken by housekeeping chatting and pushing trolleys but that hasn’t happened once so far. We’d obviously rather much not be here but, given that we are, can’t imagine that we’d rather be quarantining anywhere else!
