For Lhasa I would say this was a pretty good hotel. I was expecting MUSH worse! The room was pretty clean, it is a good location, and had a decent restaurant. I was here during low season, here are some tips to help with your stay: 1. The staff has "limited" english abilities. Don't expect much in regards to this.... More

On a small group tour this hotel was the let down of the trip. A lot of us suffered from altitude sickness and the extremely hard beds made it so much worse, as did the smoke in the halls and public areas. The pool has no water and meals are not readily available, unless you want a large buffet. Stafff... More

Only 25% non-smoking. Carpets were exceptionally dirty. Had repeated problems with door keys. So-so breakfast for westerners. So-so WI-FI. Hard beds. No AC. TV only in Chinese if that is important to you. However, good location.

Lhasa Hotel, also known as kai yuan lhasa hotel, is one of the first hotels built in Lhasa. It is quite large, but it can get crowded during the peak summer seasons. The main halls are pretty grand, but the halls are often filled with cigarette smoke. (Something common to all Chinese hotels) The rooms are pretty good, but the... More

this was the first major hotel to be built in Tibet after the communist "liberation" and was designed for party officials in monolithic mode, the atirum is vast and colourless (brown being the endemic colour) with the reception desk tucked away (all the staff in overcoats, no English and surly service); it really needs a female touch with flowers to... We were in the v.i.p. section and the room was huge and so was the bathroom,However the light in the hallway going towards the bathroom would come on as soon as you went towards it lighting part of the bedroom which disturbed the sleep if someone got up in the night. and there was no one to explain how to... One small oasis in this dirty but very beautiful Lhasa. Look behind the Chinese facade and enjoy real Lhasa, the Potala the monasteries the market. Great big and clean rooms, very reasonable food for Tibet. Very loud and rude chinese neibours tho !!!!

Enjoyed 3 nights in this lovely hotel. The rooms are so spacious and so comfortable in every way. There are huge windows and plenty of natural light. The bathroom is well designed with separate toilet. Good wifi. The availablity of oxygen in our room, with speedy service to assist you is an added advantage if you experience altitude sickness. Excellent... More

We stayed twice at this hotel in April 2014. We stayed in the new wing and the rooms were great. Roomy, comfortable and everything works. Great four Tibet. The down side is if you are an English speaker don't expect anything other than a great room. Outside of breakfast there was little food on offer. Most of the hotel was... More

I arrived to Lhasa with my husband on Dec 31. Not the best time because there was no Year's Eve Celebration. This is low season in Tibet, so there we almost no guests at the hotel. There was only a chinese restaurant open and they had no english menu! Though, staff was very friendly and did their best to explain... More
