This resort located in a hill near to Prambanan temple. You can have good view of Prambanan temple, mount Merapi and Yogyakarta during sunrise and sunset. They also have completed facility and unique games (archery) for hotel guest. This resort also has same management with abhayagiri restaurant so you can also take nice photo during breakfast.
The restaurant is famous for it's Prambanan views. Its actually a good eatery in it's own right, it also has a hotel attached with rooms together with a conference centre & autitoriam with shows. The food is great and the views even better.
After visiting the Prambanan temple is this the perfect place for to have your dinner. Its on the mountain and the view is amazing with the temple illuminated and all the stars on the sky. You sit outside on the terrace and its so soothing and very romantic. The food is delicious and not to expensive and the service is excelent. So if you are in Prambanan have a dinner in Sumberwatu the best place in that area and you gone have a wonderful experience. Maybe the next time when I come there I try also the resort, it looks a perfect location for to vistit the area.
I stayed here with my family and husband in October 2018 for 5 nights. My parents and brothers stayed in the villa (which was lovely, with a nice private garden, pagoda and porch in the back) and my husband and I were in one of their hotel rooms (they are rather small, but otherwise just fine). The resort is perched up on a hill away from the craziness and chaos that is Yogyakarta, with wonderful unobstructed views of Mt. Merapi and the Prambanan temples. The resort is in a lovely peaceful setting (except for the Mosque prayer calls at 4:00am each morning from nearby villages, if you are a light sleeper like myself then it might be a problem, bring a good pair of ear plugs and maybe if you’re ok with sleeping with a pair noise cancelling headphones would help). The staff was wonderful, especially at breakfast, the one lady (Fitri I believe) who paid special attention to us every morning went above and beyond. She was very sweet, polite and pleasant. Each morning she would ask us what we would like to have for breakfast the following day and it was always a delicious feast of Indonesian fare. Must try the famous Yogya Gudeg meal served with opor ayam and tempeh bacem, they cooked it up at the resort for us and it didn’t disappoint! My husband’s favorite was the black pepper beef and the fresh squeezed orange juice (Indonesian oranges are different than the American kind, he now wishes he could drink it every day). My brothers liked the mie and nasi goreng with kampung chicken, parents liked the bakso. We liked the crispy fried mushrooms too and all the fresh squeezed/blended juices & smoothies (mango, guava, watermelon, avocado, pineapple). There was always a cook to order egg station, coffee, fragrant Javanese tea, pastries, bread and cereal as well. All of it was such a treat! We felt like royalty! I can't say it enough, but all of the staff were just wonderful. The Javanese are known for their incredible hospitality, which is exactly what we got at Sumberwatu. We were given afternoon tea/coffee, cakes, spring rolls and treats everyday complimentary, as well as welcome treats and cookies that my husband and I were addicted to. We booked their driver and car everyday which was very convenient and we also took their bikes (which we ended up walking, the bikes were heavy and it’s better to just walk there as it’s up some steep hills, but only about a half mile from the hotel) through a quaint little hill top village to get to the back entrance of Ratu Boko palace/monastery archaeological site which we had to ourselves for a good hour and half, until we went up to the main entrance gate which is where most people seemed to hang around. The pool area at the hotel was a nice little spot for an afternoon swim to cool down from the heat, or nap on the loungers. The traffic is insane in Yogya, so be prepared to sit in the car a lot when getting to and from the city and surrounding temple sites (bring drinks and snacks). It was always nice to come back to the resort away from the crowds and madness. The restaurant at the hotel was busy every night, especially on the weekends, sometimes they had entertainment and a buffet. We didn't take advantage of the complimentary Javanese archery instruction, as we just ran out of time. Having airport transportation to and from the resort was very handy as well. They even packed us breakfast to go (hot or cold, with fresh fruit and bottled water), since we had an early flight that was very convenient!…
It is a boutique hotel for who likes the quiet place to enjoy Jogjakarta. The big breakfast you have in the restaurant is so tremendous and feel so special to be treated that way. Should build more room if possible as the view is magnificent specially sunset where you can see Prambanan Temple from rhe balcony.
