The funny lion staff was exceptional at their service!! The ladies at the front desk greeted us every time they saw us and always asking how our day is going. Our luggage was brought up and down from our rooms at check in and check out within a few minutes of us asking. The food and drinks were delicious. Our room was beautiful filled with fresh juices, complimentary bandanas and tote and top it off with a balcony overlooking their pool! Everytime we had to go to the beach as well, they provided towels to use. I would rate this hotel a million over ten. Price per night is also not too expensive and its location is great only having a short walk to el nido downtown for nightlife, restaurants, and bars! You also get a free tour to papaya beach as it is privately owned by the funny lion!

The best in town - safe and secure with brand new rooms - all of that with great staff, super friendly and happy to work there.
On one day (we didn’t know they offered that), they brought us free of charge to a private beach the hotel owns and we spent the day there (with they own boat)
Breakfast is included and delicious and the food at the restaurant is great and local styled.
It’s a 3 minutes walk to the Main Street and to me is the best location because the Main Street is just too busy and dirty !

We visited El Nido for 4 nights as a family of 3 and had a lovely time staying at The Funny Lion. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, greeted us by name everytime they saw us. We stayed for our anniversary and had a nice surprise for us in the room when we arrived. Fresh juice and fruit was also provided complimentary in the room on the first day.
On check in, we received a few vouchers, for dining and the spa. I had an amazing massage at the spa on my last night and highly recommend.
The room itself was comfortable and had everything we needed. Only suggestion for the hotel would be to provide a larger bath mat, or another one for outside the bathroom as it can get quite wet after showers. The room was serviced daily and we had a nice sea view. 1 thing to note for the sea view room on the upper levels is that there is no lift, we were ok even with our 4 yr old and was a good way to get our steps up. The staff brought our luggage up and down for check in/out.
Location of The Funny Lion was excellent, just a few mins walk to the Main Street where all the restaurants and shops are as well as the beach.
Oh there is also a private beach that you can visit which the hotel provides free transport to (via van and boat). The beach is gorgeous with warm, clear water, beach mats, kayaks and stand up paddles provided, snorkels can be hired for 100peso which was very convenient. The are also swings and hammocks to relax from which our daughter loved, the hotel also gave our daughter a beach toy bucket and spades which she absolutely loved making sandcastles with.
Highly recommend staying the The Funny Lion when visiting El Nido, the staff will go out of their way to make your experience a special one. Would definitely stay here again next time.

Thank you so much for making our stay so wonderful.
The Funny Lion is situated in the most perfect location with only a few minutes walk to local bars and restaurants. Only a few minutes tricycle ride to local beaches and sights.
Upon arrival we knew we were in good hands.
Everything from the room service (thank you to our room service guy for having the best sense of humour too 🐶 - you'll know what I mean), the cleanliness of the room, the attentiveness from all the staff - asking for anything via room service happens in seconds! Even the food and ambience by the pool were delightful and delicious.
Shout out to the bar staff for always getting me my gin and tonics. Big shout out to Val and Julie too for their energy!
The staff here are beautiful people who clearly work tireless to ensure their guests are well taken care of.
The Funny Lion should be proud of the establishment that they have created.
Once again thank you so much for eveything. We're on our way to the next Funny Lion in Coron so this is quite exciting coming from everything we had just experienced in El Nido.

Greetings from Rodica&Cosmin: We read the very good reviews about the hotel and decided to choose this hotel for our stay in El Nido for 9 days, including the Christmas and New Year's Eve . I was very curious if they were true, and now I can confirm: -From the moment you step into the hotel you feel like you are in a family, all the staff are very dedicated and attentive to make the guests feel good. I would like to especially appreciate the team from the Front Office who always took care of our requests very promptly: booking trips, taxi, recommendations (Hi Val!) - The kitchen is extraordinary, a combination of traditional Filipino dishes with European dishes, all cooked with great taste, perfectly. I would like to personally send greetings to the Chef for the extraordinary New Year's Eve dinner. Also, you should not miss the event every Friday: barbecue dinner. Order with confidence the food from the hotel restaurant and from the bar, very tasty, a very good price-quality ratio, compared to what is found in El Nido (Hi Marvin, brother) - The room is nicely decorated, I received from the hotel natural juices and fresh fruits. Very comfortable bed, every day you wake up with a view of the pool. - Another plus to the hotel is the fact that there is a beautiful, paradisiacal private beach (Papaya Beach), to which transport by land and water is easy. The beach also has a bar and great palm trees, white sand. - Another plus is the location of the hotel, in the newest area of El Nido, very close to the area with restaurants and bars, but without being affected by their noise. -I would like to note the organization of the New Year's Eve event, the dinner was extraordinary, we had a fireworks display from the roof of the hotel, where there is a view over the whole of El Nido. - Many thanks to the hotel manager, Mr. Nilo, for taking care every day that we feel very good and for socializing. - I would say in the end that staying at Funny Lion in El Nido is not just a simple stay but an entire experience that we enjoyed for 9 days.

From the arranged pick up at the port to the day we checked out at 5am, we were cared for with the utmost attention and pleasantries. Val & Julie the front desk staff and all of the service staff were super helpful and attentive throughout our stay. The room was clean, comfortable and the view was to die for!! We slept well on the king size bed, sheets were soft. They provided a delicious welcome juice drink in the fridge upon check-in. The TV has Netflix and other streaming platforms to make you feel right at home. The pool was very refreshing after a long day out sightseeing. We also received a massage and milk bath at their spa across the street and it was phenomenal! The food was delicious and we really enjoyed the buffet breakfast each morning. The hotel has Tuk tuks across the street for easy access to transportation and is also very walkable to all the restaurants and shopping. When checking out, we left two sets of over ear headphones behind and the housekeeping staff was very quick to bring them down to us right after we left the room. We were so appreciative of that as the headphones were not cheap and we needed them on our long journey back home.
We truly enjoyed our stay here and recommend everyone stay here while in El Nido.

Val, Ember, Julie and the team were amazing and made the experience at the funny lion one of the best I have ever stayed that. They were so attentive and upbeat, responsive and super helpful and made our stay super comfortable and smooth. The amenities at the funny lion are amazing, the breakfast has a range of options and the cleaning services of the rooms is great. The laundry service is affordable and quick picked up and returned to your room. They also provide beach towels which you can just drop back off on return. They have complementary refreshments in the room and also occasionally drop of cookies and other sweet treats. The location is perfect for exploring el Nido, with 1-2 Min walk into town there is no better place to stay in El Nido, the funny lion definitely tops it.

Our stay at The Funny Lion was truly exceptional. The wonderful staff went above and beyond to cater to our every need, with the lovely Val always greeting us with a warm smile. The security team was equally fantastic, ensuring we always had a tuk-tuk or anything else we required. The facilities are modern and thoughtfully designed. We enjoyed the pool, spa, and gym, as well as the private pool accessible via a complimentary short boat ride offered multiple times a day. The location is perfect—close to the main strip of El Nido and the beach, yet far enough to provide a peaceful and quiet retreat.
The accommodations were spotless and immaculate, with the added touch of amazing-smelling fabric detergent that made everything feel extra fresh. I highly recommend The Funny Lion to anyone visiting El Nido. We will absolutely be back!

Not that I saw. The hotel is right on the beach where you can walk and shop. Tons of restaurants to choose from. Great food, and being on the beach at sunset is unbelievable. But the hotel does have a restaurant right on the beach where an elderly person could sit and see the sunset, and people watch from there. Live music in the evening as well. Very nice! Take a blanket and sit on the beach as well, or snorkel, if she swims. Water is shallow so no need to go far in. Tons of fish to see. Hope this helps.
