I am not sure if it is because we were the last one to check in, but we were given the last room of the floor. The view was definitely not fantastic. That is not my main complaint. The floor at the entry way was spotted with stains. The furniture in the room seemed to be put together without much consideration. Between our beds there was no bedside table so we have to place our phones on our beds when we want to charge them. The should-be bedside table was on the side, apparently the design did not match the powerpoint hence was placed away from the bed. The table lamp is two pin and unplugged from the power point. The rain shower was obvious not serviced for a while as the water spurts from the edge. The washing basin was cracked. You cannot blow dry your hair while someone is using the bathroom because the hairdryer is attached to the wall in the bathroom. The TV would occasionally go black with only audio. Bed was uncomfortable and we did not have a good rest. The service staff do not seemed to be seasoned hospitality staff and looked like interns. There was no offer of transport service schedule to other parts of Sentosa. Was it because we were only there for one night? Regrettably this lousy experience costs me $400 SGD. I am utterly disappointed and disgusted.

It is certainly not our intent to disappoint our guests or provide anything less than the best in personal service and facilities. We regret that your stay was not a pleasant one. After much findings, we do acknowledged that the stains and rain shower are not at their best in functionality. As the hotel has been around since 2009 built on a historical former British barracks , the layout of the room may differ slightly from one to another. As for the plugs and power point, we do have one designated on the TV bar but not by the bedside as we want to give our guests a more relaxed environment in our sanctuary resort.. The TV is an isolated case as we have been checking on several occasions that it is working well. The transportation around the island is easily accessible by shuttle bus to HarbourFront MRT station, bus stop is just located outside our resort and Imbiah monorail station is only 5 minutes walk away from our property. Please accept my sincere apologies for the lapse in service and we hope that this experience has not changed your otherwise good impression of Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa, and we sincerely hope you would let us have the opportunity to be of service to you again. What sanctuary? Never had we experienced such poor service, poorly maintained amenities and facilities in Singapore. 

Maybe a great stay for many novice but for those discerning travellers just imagine - more than an hour wait to get checked in even arriving passed 3pm with other guests before us waiting even longer than an hour with family/kids in tow. With no where else to go we ended up killing time at mosquito infested 'Dream' pool connected to a kiddie pool with slide. The entire area appeared abandoned and unkept, no staff at hand, no towels, and a few sun-beds. Had to dip neck deep in kiddie pool to avoid attacked by mosquitos. 

Front desk staff are clearly trying their best but demoralised and stressed out. Only when we threatened to cancel our stay and ask for refund suddenly we got a room! Certainly not the right thing to do but we were utterly disappointed , not the right way to start a holiday. 

The room we stayed in was on the high floor. It was decent, clean with a little balcony that's bare. Nice sunset view out towards the sea. 

There's a Sky pool that's tiny and narrow that fits 6 people with 5 sun beds. The state of it was appalling - the bin was over spilling with bottles and cans and the towel shelf is piled up with so many used towels from the day we checked in and remained until the day we checked out!! 

There's a restaurant that we can't be bothered to discover and head out everyday as there's no place to relax and enjoy within the hotel.

 For the price of S$600 for 2-nights we could have gone to any other resort hotels to enjoy a proper relaxing holiday with some service and facilities. Won't be back to this one for sure.

The hotel has an appointed professional agency to take care of the cleanliness and hygiene of the whole property and periodic checks are conducted regularly. Being a sanctuary resort, as much as we love to see peacocks flocking around with other beautiful wildlife within the hotel compound, pests such as ants and mosquitoes are also inevitable. Instead of showing that the hotel is using aggressive pesticides to control the pests, it is not of any health benefit to any respective individual. We are letting the welcomed animals and the "not-so-welcome-animals' to coexist as they are all part of the ecology, environment and conservation. Please understand that we are trying our best to keep our property eco-friendly / nature-friendly that is beneficial to us and our natural environmental climate. Due to the high occupancy rate that the hotel is experiencing for our Deluxe rooms, hence, there was a delay of check-in although registration was done at our Front Office. Our Sky Pool are only only meant for guests staying in our Deluxe rooms in Sanctuary Block, guests from other room categories are not allowed to use that area. So, the area for usage is sufficient. Check in to the hotel was great, we were early so they took our bags and promised to call us as soon as the room was ready. Sure enough an hour later (and an hour earlier than normal check in times) they called to say our room was available. The room itself was comfortable though a few items such as the desk chairs were very worn our and could do with being replaced. The communal facilities really let the resort down. The pool was meant to be by reservation only due to covid restrictions but this wasn't enforced and several times there was clearly more guests than booking slots. Security were around but did not question this. There was a huge pile of dirty towels by the rooftop pool which were not removed during our 3 day stay, the bin was overflowing and again, not emptied during our stay, and the toilet by the pool was disgusting. On the 2nd day we decided to try the dream pool instead. Dreamy it was not...it was filled with leaves and bugs, with a lot of trash laying around. Through our room rate dinner was included and we could choose chicken or fish, however the chicken was finished. After explaining a food allergy they reluctantly agreed to swap it out for something from the main menu. Service was very slow, with only 2 staff in the restaurant and only 1 of them actually doing anything. Breakfast redeemed them a bit, very filling with regular top ups of coffee and fruit juice throughout. I wondered where all of the extra staff had come from! It's clear the hotel was 5* when it opened, but lack of investment, lack of attention to detail and clear staff shortages left me questioning if it even warrants a 3* rating in it's current state.

My fiance made an impromptu 1-night stay booking @ Amara Sanctuary, a Couple Suite for my extended birthday celebration. This review may be biased as we had earlier spent our previous nights at another 5-star property with similar price points. Cons As there were limited Couple Suites, the check-in process literally took us a 2hr wait and it was only a Tuesday. We were advised to wait at Shutters and wait for the call. There were quite a fair bit of other guests, some with kids in the restaurant, who are also like us, waiting for their rooms. There weren’t any complimentary drinks offered, unlike other hotels who’d do that when their rooms are not ready. The restaurant did serve complimentary ice water, or you can choose to pay for a drink. Only got our room at 5pm and was granted a late check out for 3pm for the next day which we are appreciative of it. Standard check-out time is 12pm and check-in time is 3pm onwards. I’m assuming this will snowball for the check-in guests the next day which probably is the cause of our late check-in. We also understand that your housekeeping team is understaffed hence the long turnaround time. Please really look to ramp up your manpower as this will only add on to negative guests’ experiences. There was a lack of lightings within the compound from the suite to the main building and it can be very dangerous. I almost trip on this built-in stone(?) near the flight of stairs. If additional lights are costly, a reflective sticker could have help. Wanted to go for an evening dip at the pool but the lights were already off by then. It was pitch black. I believe there was a cut-off time for the suite's pool but we’re not sure of it. Pros Shuttle bus frequency and timings are pretty accurate and convenient. We mostly had our meals and did our late-snacks shopping over at Vivo. We did not bother to check out what’s offered within the vicinity/Sentosa because it’s eerily dark and we’re just lazy to walk. While our room feels a tad rustic, we’re glad the aircon is cold, comes with a working heater, outdoor bathtub, and doesn’t have broken fixtures. Aside from the fire alarm that went off next door at 2330h when we’re about to have an early night, we still had a good sleep as the bed and pillows are very comfortable. I personally enjoyed the direct pool access, private day bed, and patio area because I love lounging under the sun (albeit with that unmovable patio shades above my head). When the other suites' neighbors went on their day, the pool and green surroundings offers this tranquillity and a sense of peace. Feels like you are in Ubud for a bit. It was quite nice. Overall Despite the well-deserved rest surrounded by greenery within our suite, we felt it wasn’t really value for money. While some reviews commented the whole resort is pretty rundown, I’d say go for it with zero expectations only if you’re comfortable with the price, whole rustic vibes, and possible delays if you book a suite. We empathized with the fact that COVID has taken a toll on everyone and everywhere else is also understaffed but we hope the management relook at the guests’ negative reviews and really do something. We’re only domestic tourists and something needs to be done before more travel lanes open up. Sad to see a nice resort losing its potential.

Based on my check in experience, I can see why there are so many bad reviews. We eventually were given our room 2+hours late, though they did give us complimentary drinks and F&B voucher for $50 to compensate. The reception staff were clearly overwhelmed and inexperienced as there were many others in the same predicament. The only other moan was the total lack of attention to the 4th floor swimming pool area where used to weld lay uncollected for 3 days, same with the dustbin full of cans and bottles! The place has clearly seen better days and needs some serious maintenance in some areas. Enough moaning....the (short ) staff that we dealt with were courteous, smiling and did their best to cover for what I see as poor management. The restaurant staff were great, serving excellent breakfasts. Similarly, the room cleaners were nice and did a good job. The room was clean and as we were on the 4th floor, we had a nice sea view with a bird's dawn chorus. Come on management, make some improvements and support your staff, they deserve better!
