When i came the hostel was in a period of transition from previous management, My experience here was excellent, staff were friendly and helpful. They were open to feedback and suggestions. Facilities were well maintained and in the midst of further improvement. Staff were seen emptying the waste bins several times in the day, bathrooms were washed in the mornings. I would say that in the next few weeks, the hostel would be able to provide with even more quality capsules for future guests as i was given the opportunity to see the newly renovated capsules and rooms.

Not very clean. Bathroom was never be cleaned! So noisy place!! I know the owner changed but I would not say it's nice to stay there. Owners are nice and helpful. Would not recommend this place. Breakfast is ok but not more. Just toast with jam.

Dear Guests, Thank you for your feedback. Our breakfast serves toast bread, butter, jams and peanut butter and on the weekends has boiled eggs for the guests. We served coffee and tea 24 hours round the clock. Bathroom are cleaned every morning and in the evening as well. We are still in the process of changing the things that were left behind by the old management. Thank you.

I've seen reviews of the Blue Penguin before and from the less-than-stellar write-ups, I knew it was a place I should avoid. I needed a low-budget hostel in Jalan Besar and found another option which rated 7++ across all booking/review sites, and was left majorly disappointed when I finally saw the hostel in person. I found another option (Blue Penguin/Meadows a few doors down), and since the first hostel was so bad I decided to take the risk of booking in this hostel that was up until recently very badly reviewed. I was very surprised to see a clean, well-maintained hostel run by great, service-oriented people led by Charlie.
