My family and I stayed at the Lotus at Joo Chiat for nearly the whole of 2012 and we loved every minute of it! The heritage buildings are well maintained and our 3 bed apartment was spacious and very well serviced. The pool is just right for the condo and the local joo-chiat area is vibrant with plenty of great...

We are locals, but needed a place to stay for 2 months and when we first found out there was a serviced apartment in Joo Chiat, it was with reluctance that we went to view it. Joo Chiat is known to the locals for its abundant food, but also notoriously renowned for its lack of parking spaces, the narrow roads...

We are just completing a week's stay at Lotus Sanctuary, in a 4 bedroom apartment. This is such a great spot. Excellent service, high security, friendly atmosphere and only a few minutes to the heart of the city. And if food is your thing, you have come to the right spot. Loo Chiat is the home of the famous Paranakan...

I lived at Lotus for nearly six years, in three different types of apartments. I stayed in the fully serviced apartments twice, for a month at a time. I lived at a shophouse for about three and a half years, and a penthouse apartment for 20 months. Overall, it is a great place to stay, short or long term. It...

We spent 8 nights here in August 2012- our family with another family. The accommodation itself is really wonderful both outside and inside with gorgeous garden. Carefully renovated, beautifully maintained, it has a uniquely Peranakan feel. There is a great play area with Little Tikes toys (castle, house, cars) for our 2 & 3 year old kids with plenty of...

We stayed at Lotus studio apartment for 5 weeks for our vacation. Felt at home as the staff were cheerful, very friendly and helpful. Relaxing atmosphere with well maintained garden, good security and big carps pond. Location is excellent with many eateries and restaurants with local specialities. The area reflects the ethnic cultures and the old charm of Singapore. We...

My wife and I and indeed all of our party, here in Singapore for my son's wedding, found the accommodation excellent. Staff were friendly and very helpful, facilities were clean and modern, and the location within the many cafes and restaurants and lovely homes made for interesting and rewarding neighbourhood walks. I moved to Lotus at Joo Chiat after two disasterous stays elsewhere. I knew as soon as I looked around that I would feel at home here and I have not been disappointed. Staying in Joo Chiat

Neighbourhood Profile
Joo Chiat
The Joo Chiat area is the traditional home of Peranakan culture in Singapore, an ethnic group descending from the blending of Chinese and Malay families in the 15th century. The neighbourhood is packed with colourful shops, local characters, and quiet charm. The main streets overflow with diners enjoying katong laksa, the signature Peranakan spicy noodle soup. Signs of youthful entrepreneurship are visible as well, with modern cafes, bars, and shops abounding. Visit Joo Chiat to take a break from the big city sights and enjoy a relaxing afternoon with a laid-back and local vibe.
