We were looking forward to our stay at Duxton Reserve but it certainly didn't live up to our expectations. It is extremely overpriced, the rooms we stayed in were tiny, the bathroom flooded when we used the shower, the lift is old, it was nothing like the photos on the website and breakfast was not included in the overpriced room rate. The hotel also tried to "hold" 1,300 singapore $ for each of the 2 rooms on my credit card , when I had prepaid for the rooms. Extremely disappointed in this property and would never stay here again.

Duxton Reserve is something else with its history of the building, exquisite interior design, wonderful rooms which are beautifully decorated and make you feel like you have stepped into another time and place. Boutique feel right on the street in a great location for boutique shopping and food.

Considering how expensive this hotel is, it ranks as an all time low in my multi-thousand nights in hotels globally. Room service tea delivered in a paper cup. Multiple light fixtures and bulbs burnt out or all night flickering. Showers gel not refilled, had to shower with shampoo. Complimentary breakfast, no staff to seat you or take an order, staff MIA after 15 minutes of waiting, gave up. Would not repeat or recommend even at lower prices

The breakfast service in the restaurant is pits. The waitress arrogant and not well verse. 1. Arrived for breakfast no staff to be found in the. I had walk the back of the bar ask the bartender to find me the waitress. 2. No flexibility, for breakfast and they don’t even give a proper breakfast. No fruits, no yoghurt. Can not order additional bread etc. 3. Jam - you can only order one type of jam per day. You can not choose which jam you want for that day. 4. The staff do not present any basic service skills. The waiter walks around a like 100 year old man carry a cup coffee with 2 hands. You will need to use your only tissue paper to remove the spilled coffee from the saucer. 5. The waiters is just bad, she doesn’t have any finesse what so ever. When asked about jam situation, her reply was that I should talk to her manager. Huh

Response from Marketing Team, Owner at Duxton Reserve Singapore, Autograph Collection
Responded 28 Apr 2023
Dear Foodie-Goodie0215, We've looked into the experience you had and please know that we have taken note of the various service breakdowns you described during breakfast service. All points above have already been shared and addressed with our executive team to improve our processes. We appreciate the feedback you have provided, and would also like to take the chance to highlight that each of our exceptional and flavourful dishes are made from the finest organic ingredients sourced locally and globally from small & family farms. This also includes options such as our Breakfast Bakery Basket which is an assortment of buttery French pastries and delicate breads, served with All-Natural Bonne Maman Jam & honey or our Seasonal Fresh Tropical Fruits, should you have chosen from our Continental section, you would have been able to enjoy both! In this case, we are sorry to hear that your choice from our a-la-carte menu which comes with two sides, coffee or tea and cold-pressed organic juices wasn't up to your expectations. We'll look into it. Once again, thank you for your feedback and we do hope you enjoy the rest of your stay.

Location, great staff, very good breakfast and bar and a cool vibe. I checked into the hotel late and was met by a great staff. I was upgraded to a tow story room that was incredibly comfortable. It does show a little wear and tear but that is due to all of the black wood mixed in with the yellow decor. The area around the hotel has so many choices to eat and drink it is a fantastic place to stay

Did a stop over in Singapore last night and checked in to the beautiful Duxton Reserve. After having stayed at 3 Ritz Carlton and 1 St Regis on this trip, it was fab to arrive to a small hotel with personalized service and a hotel filled with charm and history. The location is imo one of the better ones, as it’s pretty much around the corner of China town (not the taggy part but the nice part). You got all the cool restaurants and bars in the area around the hotel and where you really feel the vibe and history of Singapore. We were upgraded to a beautiful Duplex suite, which was totally refurbished and had a mixture of modern Chinese interior design. The Uber cool lounge bar on the ground floor was BEAUTIFUL. What made it even more special was “Joel the bar man”, who made the best cocktails and offered amazing service. This guy definitely deserves a promotion as he takes such good care of his guests! We also had dinner at the Yellow pot which was really good. What made it even better was the Guest relationship manager Joel Sia. A very well spoken gentleman with years of experience within F&B. He did everything he could to make our stay pleasurable and stretched himself far and above to make us feel “at home”. I would say the hotel is lucky to have a Guest relationship manager as Joel! Definitely a recomendable hotel to stay at unless you want the typical boring big hotels where everyone acts as a machine. Will be back to stay at this hotel next time we travel to or pass by Singapore.

Book their top suite and was not up to my expectation. It might probably be an interior design preference. First it was very dark and wet, there was a dirty skylight window on top the tv sofa area. The area is very crumped up , the bathroom is very small. Given its price, I would not recommend it. The service is also not to standard, not mentioning the breakfast selection. However, the facade of the building does give a very nice warm feeling.

We were drawn to host our large group of 15 to the Anouska's bar after admiring the beautiful exterior of the hotel. Reputation of the bar's cocktails had preceded itself among our guests and Joel Kwek did not disappoint. Joel Sia ensured we had everything we needed, catered for every food preference and ensured our group's needs were looked after at every moment without breaking a sweat. This hotel is lucky to have this dynamic duo, we will be back!

From the moment I checked in I had the best experience. The food, staff and ambiance was first class. In fact, I've already booked this hotel for my next stay. The bed was super comfy and very quiet.
