I have stayed at several of Singapore's hostels and on this occasion decided to try this relative newcomer. I visited in early March, just after Singapore had the first outbreak of COVID-19 but weeks before the lockdown, so the hostel was not that busy but there were still guests. Even though I arrived 1 hour before the closing time, the friendly staff promptly checked me in and even helped with luggage and dining recommendation (there's the Lau Pa Sat food center which is a short stroll away and open until late). Here you have your own "cabin" (a very small room), with barely enough space to put your luggage. It might not be suitable for those who are claustrophobic. I am fine with small spaces and the bed was comfy enough, although the walls show some wear and tear and could use with some maintenance work. Towel and linens are provided, but you have to bring your own toiletries. For sure, one of the attractions of staying here is the buzzing (in normal time) area of Tanjong Pagar, with diverse eateries (Spanish, Italian, Chinese) along the streets. Some of Singapore's best-known bars and restaurants are located here. It has the hippy vibe that I like, more than the upscale districts of Marina Bay or Orchard Road with their glitzy shopping malls.…
Pros: -Privacy -Good AC in halls and bedroom -Surrounded by restaurants and 7-11 -Breakfast and water dispenser -Short walk to MRT -luggage storage space in room Cons: -Some of the bathrooms are really hot -Toilet paper dispenser is in the hallway -Building shows some wear. The floors and grout in the bathrooms are yellowed. The paint in my room was bubbled/chipped. -Need to be physically fit enough to carry luggage up stairs. In addition, be aware that some rooms have ladders. -Reading light in room was broken Overall, I had a good experience here. It is a good spot for someone looking for a combination of value and privacy. Remember to bring your own shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.
I knew the room would be small but I couldn’t anticipate just how small it could be! Recommended to those traveling with only a carryon as there is no space to put a big luggage, let alone a space to even open one. The room was comfortable enough for sleeping. The walls are paper thin so fingers crossed that you have courteous neighbors. I had nice neighbors who were quiet my first night but the second night a new tenant checked in and started talking on the phone with the speaker on in the hallway at 8AM so I could hear everything loud and clear. The bathroom though very limited they are clean. The booking said there would be amenities but there was only liquid soap so I had to buy my own shampoo. But there are 7-11 and Guardian nearby. The shower floor could need some scrubbing so I decided to shower with my flipflop on. The staff were very nice. They explained how things work and helped you with the luggage. If you need new towels or have questions they’re always at the ready to assist. There’s no staff at night but you’re given a keycard that can access the building and your room. You can also store your luggage at the lobby after check out if your flight is later in the day. The best thing about this hostel is the location. A lot of bars and restaurants and a short walk to Chinatown. You can also access both the Blue line (that goes to Bayfront) and the Green line (straight to/from Changi/Jewel). I would stay here again as a solo traveler and if I don’t plan to carry more than one carryon. I would choose a bigger room than the standard cabin though next time. …
Value for money. Considering the location and the price plus the free breakfast (includes: wheat and white bread; spreads-peanut butter, kaya, strawberry, butter; sausage; boiled egg; coffee, tea, milo) it is definitely a steal. Only 290 meters from tanjong pagar station (best to take fraser tower exit); 150 meters from Amoy Food Centre; 500 meters from Maxwell Hawker Centre; 450 meter from Chinatown; and just downstairs are breakfast options. Though no lift, the staff would help you with your luggage. Kudos to Mr. Jhon for a very warmth welcome (nothing beats Filipino hospitality) He gave us all the tips on where to buy cheap souvenirs and the best outlet malls etc. Definitely a cozy place. Its nice to stay at there lobby/lounge area where there are soft cushion, nice choice of music and a TV. We have stayed at urban attic where the space per se is large enough for an extra double bed. Highly recommended. …
Positives: Great location, near public transport too. Friendly staff, a clean room, able to use showers after check out was great too. Fine for a one night stay. Negatives: Very average breakfast. Stairs in rooms are deadly! Not enough bathrooms - we were always having to wait and in the mornings none of the bathrooms had any toilet paper.
This is a great affordable stay in a clean and modern efficient space- like staying at IKEA for the night! The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, and the spot itself perfectly suited our needs. Right next door to food options and a 7 eleven, walking distance to the MRT train station and nearby attractions. We had a great visit and would stay here again!
Hotel well maintained and clean, you are in fact not alowed to wear your shoes but you receive slippers. Bathroom in the hallways very very clean, always one or two available so it is not an issue to not have a bathroom in your room. Great location next to the Chinese district, great hawker centres for food, close to metro. Breakfast not great but it is always an option if you do not want to eat out. I would definitely recommend to a friend. Very very good price for singapore if you are on budget
Checking in was a breeze. the lobby looks really modern and has a homey feel to it. you can also enjoy karaoke but i didn't use it (though i did hear someone singing on the first night i stayed there). WiFi didn't work at first for me but guy at reception helped me trouble shoot it which was awesome customer service. There are hair dryers only in three of the shower rooms which may be a bit troublesome for those with long hair but during my stay (probably during off-peak) I didn't have to wait to use the bathroom/shower rooms. Room- small but good enough for a night's rest and getting ready in the morning. No hangers though or anywhere to hang anything. In my room, there was a broken table (that's supposed to open up over the bed) which sucked but since i settled in already i just accepted it). Wish there was a bit more space to put stuff like i think it'd be great if they could build more shelves onto the walls. Just a half size mirror in my room. Safety first! Good to know place is locked after 10pm and need card key access to all doors. Patio is nice and hot. It's also where the water dispensers and kitchen sinks are (gotta wash your bowls after using them for breakfast) Bedding is quite nice! Spring mattress. Comforter is nice and clean and soft. Breakfast is nice and simple and free; toast, all kinds of spreads (kaya jam, strawberry, pb etc), poached eggs, sausages, dim sum, coffee, milo etc. you do have to clean up after yourself (clean dish and/or cup you were using) on the outside patio sink area. Was a bit alarmed when i saw a ton of ants on the first day...basically any food garbage and whatnot should be thrown in the garbage can on the patio NOT your room or the bathroom. We don't want ants in our rooms... Shower/bathrooms are pretty okay. it can definitely get hot in there fast. And yeah all the soap in the shower and the soap dispenser by the sink are just the one kind. But at least there are hair dryers! Yay. Feel free to bring your own body wash/shampoo/conditioner. And the best part is that it's conveniently located like about 3 blocks walk away from telok ayer on the downtown line! And really close to amoy food centre and maxwell food centre (for maxwell, you have to walk a bit farther through the Ann Siang Hill park). It's also near a few bus stops too and in a relatively hopping area (especially at night time) so it's definitely safe to walk in the area. Also it's right next to a 711! So anything you need can be bought for a cheap price right next door!…
Everything was according to its description. Cabins are literally bed with few shelfs but it is enought to sleep in.There was a place under the bed where you can put your luggage in.We were travelling with a big suitcase and two backpacks and it was ok.whole place is clean and well kept. There is a bathroom on every floor so we never had to wait to use it. It wasn’t noisy, actually it was quite quiet. Breakfast is very basic like an egg, toast and some jam plus coffee and tee,for me it was enough. Guy at the reception was super friendly,we asked for some tips where to eat etc. Location is great!just next to MRT station with direct access to the airport. Close to all the touristic attractions like 5-10 min in MRT and You are there. I would recommend this place as it has good price and it’s clean and close to everything you want to see in Singapur. …
Great value and amazing location, easy access to all the city. Facilities are clean and room was small but comfortable. Enough room to store things if traveling with small bags. 7eleven right at the corner.
