This place is horrible, tiny and gross! They also priced gouge by a huge amount! They charged 10 x normal price during the F1 formula races. The government of Singapore should be ashamed for letting this place rip off foreign visitors. I have traveled the world and this place was by far the very worse. Avoid this dumpy, overpriced hotel!
We have booked this hotel for 3 nights as seen on Agoda. You will definitely be disappointed if you go inside the room. I even couldn’t put my baggage’s as there is no place to keep them in. We had to keep open the door for 15 mins to arrange baggages and fo inside the room. Glass window next bed and shower cubicle. If you going with kids don’t ever book this hotel. This hotel is good for solo travellers . All the rooms are same. You can’t even upgrade. MRT is far away from the hotel. No easy access to any attractions. Not recommend for families or couples .
Hotel is low cost and value for money. It is far from MRT station and the traffice on the busy main road is very noisy and we could not sleep at night untill late. Room is ok and clean if anyone on budget will recommend them
Please read to have correct expectations. To begin with, I understand that it is not a 4 or 5 star hotel that has to have all the comfort available, however there are very basic stuff even 1-star hotel should generally follow. Cons: 1. Rooms are quite small, however the disappointing was the fact that is was smaller than expected from the pictures, so it might be a bit confusing. 2. What pictures didn’t show is having bathroom and toilet both in the same tiny tube, which is very very uncomfortable. Basically after shower, the whole toilet is wet. 3. For whatever reason, there was hair all over the room whenever I checked in. Several hair on my sink, and literally LOTS of hair in the bathroom. There were so many, it is literally impossible to miss it if you tried to clean the room. What is means is that the floor was definitely not taken care of after previous guest’s check-out. The worst thing is, I deliberately left it in the bathroom (which I didn’t use on the first day) and even after housekeeping visit, it was still there!!! Even second time the floor wasn’t cleaned or vacuumed!!! 0 attention paid. 4. Noise isolation from the hall is practically non-existent as you can hear people talking, walking, or the elevator moving from the hall into the room. I assume that the noise from the room equally exists to the hall. 5. There are some parts of the room that are already quite old and stained. Pros: 1. The price is still relatively low compared to other hotels in Singapore. That’s why I chose this hotel in my case. 2. The staff at the front desk are very nice, especially the lady (who’s name started on J, I do not remember exactly, sorry). She was good at always keeping the smile and being polite, so thank you for that positive attitude! 3. Some shops like grocery and several food outlets available nearby. 4. If you get a grab taxi, you can still access places like Orchard street for 8-9 SGD, which is not that bad location-wise. 5. My room still had a big window, which is helpful and relieving at the end of the day and creates some space, especially considering the tiny room. Overall, if it hadn’t been for the hair (which had been there for 2 days without housekeeping noticing it!), I would’ve given the hotel 4/5 overall, but due to this unacceptable negligence, I would rate 2/5. …
I couldn't fault reception, as they did everything they could to help with check in, taxis, local businesses etc. The staff working in the rooms we pleasant, trustworthy and always cheery. The TV in the room had only 1 non Singapore channel, so entertainment has to be found elsewhere. Plenty of food around, supermarkets, restaurants etc. A 15 min walk to the nearest MRT station (Novena).
The previous weekend i stayed two days at Aqueen Balestier although i was offered a 5 star hotel by my client. What i found was, everything remains the same as before, to the best of my likings. The front desk staffs are friendly and kind of remembered me as a return guest. Gave me a room as before, having just enough of all the necessities i expect of the hotel, no frills no hidden cost added. Housekeeping was excellent. The next day before i went out to run my errands i told the front desk that i need my room to be "make up". I went out for an hour and return to the hotel room to my amasement; my room has been nicely done up, cleaned, bed linens changed. It brightens my mood as i laid down in bed enjoying the serenity and quietness. Although this is a very basic hotel; it serves all my purpose for staying in a hotel. Good and speedy service. Friendly and welcoming environment; just like before. Travellers may they be holiday makers or business people; for good, no frills, efficient and clean place to stay in Singapore yet not having to pay exorbitant rates; well Aqueen Hotel Balestier is a definite choice.…
I have been using this hotel for more than six years whenever I visited Singapore on business and I am always happy I made the choice. The place is tiny but very nice - friendly, efficient, comfortable and quiet rooms with decent hotel guests and very attentive staffs.
Highly recommended, its not so expensive, clean and comfortable. This is the 3rd time im staying here and im satisfied as always The only negative thing is the noise - sometimes can hear the water flushing from above, people slamming doors or the vehciles from outside (if your room faces the main road). if you are light sleeper, i suggest you brought some ear plugs also its far from mrt. but again, you can always take the bus
For the relatively low room price, they serves up all the basic requirements. Should be satisfying for most travellers. The rooms are small but no complains if it is only for a good night's sleep. Reception is friendly. Managed to easily catch taxis outside.
I have spent just one night in this hotel, but everything was perfect. The room had all I need and it's really funny having the toilet in the shower - surprisingly it works absolutelly fine this way. Room rates are really friendly compared to other places. And the room had a window. Most of the other hotels I've checked had no window in the same price range
