A very beautifully decorated small hotel with a charm many others don't have and where it is so pleasant to spend some time, also enjoying a friendly service. What is also good about it is that the group have other properties nearby with a different atmosphere

Hotel's Favourite
I have stayed at the Maxwell twice over the past few weeks whilst in Singapore on business, the second time because I loved the week I spent here for the first trip. I travel extensively for business (87 nights in Marriott’s by June in 2022 already), and have stayed in my fair share of hotels, I rarely write reviews but this hotel is so exceptional I felt the need to do so. I’ve been lucky to visit the Maxwell during the opening phase, because this hotel will become incredibly popular when it’s fully open. The hotel is stunning, the decor is one of the finest of any boutique hotel I’ve ever stayed in, harking back to a bygone age of grand Empire and colonial history whilst respecting the struggles nations went through to gain their independence. The hotel is stuffed full of history, every wall has historic documents and every picture has a story. The location is excellent for anyone needing to work in Singapore, close to all of the major organisations and the central business district. The rooms are beautifully appointed, with some of the most stunning minibars I have ever seen (see photos). The restaurant that’s open (one of three) is fully vegan, which as a carnivore was a little bit of a shock on my first night, but the team pointed me to an awesome Japanese grill just 30 seconds away out of the front door of the hotel to get my meat fix. The breakfasts are delightful, scrambled eggs are hard to get right, but the head chef here at the Maxwell make the most beautiful scrambled eggs which explode with Parmesan and spinach! Hotel staff are just excellent, always there, remembering your order, I had to ask for nothing, my drinks were kept topped up and my room was stocked with whatever I asked for (water, fresh milk, tonic water for the excellent selection of gin in the room etc). The valet is the most humble and delightful host and looks after guests not just as they check in but throughout their stay. Hugo the hotel manager came to check on me and always had the most warm Spanish of welcomes, he is a true hotelier and he is made for hospitality, every hotel needs a Hugo that can spend time with guests but also sort out any request or any issue, nothing is too much trouble and nothing is beneath him. Im excited to come back to the Maxwell when the other restaurants, pool and bar open over the coming months. Tips for staying here: - Ask for ice as you check in, you’ll want to use the minibar - Stroll around the hotel and the area, there are so many beautiful little side streets, restaurants and shops - The lounge is a great place to chill during the day between meetings, be careful of the Negronis - they’ll make your later meetings a little more fun ! The Maxwell is my residence in Singapore going forwards - don’t everyone stay here though, I want to make sure I can get reservations 😝

The cleanliness of the hotel is beyond disappointing and a concern. The room bins and toilet rolls were not changed one one night. The hotel foyers were not hovered. The room was not hoovered. No replacement amenities. The hotel is next to a building site which was never made aware of prior or since booking. The management were not interested in dealing with issues snd photos but daily sorrys! No compensation but a birthday cake and 2 gin drinks!

This chic hotel is by far one of the best in the Autograph Collection. The detail and quality of the interior is outstanding, it’s reminds me of the elegance of stately homes and grand palaces. There are a couple of unique items that I have never experienced in a Marriott hotel, these set a very high bar and one which other Marriott hotels should aspire to. Firstly the Executive Lounge food is bespoke and freshly made, a real joy compared to the often bland and boring standard lounge food, a wonderful selection of high end drinks and the most amazing fresh pressed healthy juices. Secondly the mini bar in my room was absolutely stunning, a beautiful collection of elegant crystal glasses for everyone option of drink, champagne, cocktails, wine, shots etc. A superb high brand selection of alcohol, fine wine and Moët Chandon . The staff and management are attentive and highly professional, attention to detail is exceptional. A true classy, intriguing and beautiful experience .

Maxwell Reserve Singapore is a terrible hotel with terrible service, I had multiple bad experiances there, do yourself a favour and stay away from this poor, poor show. 1) I left my room at 9AM on the first morning, and when I got back at 5PM it still wasn't cleaned. I spoke to the receptionist who said that while i'll go for dinner - they will clean my room, but when I got back hours later - nobody did. I contacted the deputy manager, who turned out to be a nasty sounding guy by the name of Anton. He did not even appologize and said all he can do is send towels to my room, with a tone of voice that read that he couldn't care less. 2) Most of the rooms are facing a construcrtion site (see pic) and it's very noisy and ugly to look at. 3) Water pressure in the bath is not as expected and the water never got as warm as you'd want it to be. 4) Service at the restaurant (afternoon) from young female and male Indian waiters was aloof, bored and uninterested. However, I would like to mention one of the reception ladies - Aimee, who seemed wonderful when I checked in, but sadly I never saw her after that, and also the Lady waiter on breakfast who was cheerful and lovely. Sadly, they were the rare exception at this very expensive and bad hotel.

Avoid the petite rooms as they are even smaller than you might imagine. We were only there 2 nights and any longer would have been depressing. The hotel itself is a little off the beaten path but is in a good location to access Chinatown. It is very close to the Maxwell food vendors. The Executive lounge is a little strange in that instead of a private room with self-serve food and drinks the executive lounge is actually in one of the hotel's restaurants. It took a bit to figure out what was offered but the food we had there was cooked to order and excellent. The hotel has a very Indian-oriented feel to it and the main restaurant is Indian Cuisine.

Dear Jimyou0724, Thank you kindly for your review! Our lovely boutique hotel Maxwell Reserve is a historically listed building in Singapore, as such we are limited to the renovations/works we can do on the building itself. The rooms are of unique design with the history of the property as well. Thank you for the comments on the lounge food and service, we are happy to hear you enjoyed it! We hope to host you on the next occasion :) Thank you.

Went for two nights stay for my business trip, it was awesome and excellent. The room was so chic and elegant. I love their attention to details, to every corner of room event the lobby looks like the mini museum of Indian Royals. All staff were very helpful and kind, helped me to order taxi late at night. Definetely will comeback for future stay!

My husband and I decided to explore the latest Garcha Group addition - Maxwell Reserve, as we’ve previously stayed at their sister properties - Vagabond & Duxton Reserve - and quite enjoyed the boutique shophouse experiences that is generally unilateral across all of their hotels. Compared to their sister properties, the Maxwell is a little newer/refurbished. We stayed for 2 nights and were pleasant surprised to be upgraded to their junior suite. The rooms are on the smaller end in terms of size, but it had everything you need in a hotel. Brownie points: they use Diptyque amenities (there’s a normal sized hand lotion, but you only get one per stay). The only thing we didn’t like about the room was that it had no windows facing outside so lighting is quite dim especially at night. We also couldn’t check to see what the weather was like outside. Evening cocktail had a full variety of hors d’oeuvre, also 4 tapa-sized dishes served from their signature Indian restaurant Shikar. Each person is able to order up to 5 dishes, and 5 drinks each, so I think it’s quite generous for happy hour standard. We had dinner booked at Burnt Ends so we didn’t order too much. Detox juices (cold pressed organic juices) are super awesome. There must have been at least 10 options to choose from, and they’re all indicated on the menu what benefits the juice blends bring (e.g. I had a “Red Cleanser” and it said the ingredients romaine/ mint/ parsley/ celery/ lemon/ Japanese cucumber/ ginger/ burdock root aid blood cleansing & minimize blood sugar. Yes, it literally list THAT many ingredients in your juice!) The juices were totally one of my favourite things about the hotel. Breakfast for Titanium members come complimentary (so for your welcome gift you are able to choose either 1000 bonus points, or 2 signature cocktails), however it’s all continental. No hot dishes. But for my husband and I, it’s perfectly fine and more than enough. There’s a rooftop pool and a gym, but the long and narrow pool is more suitable for swimmers to swim laps. Not the kind of “leisure pool” that you are used to at other hotels. But I know at Duxton & Vagabond they don’t have pools, so this is definitely a nice bonus to have on site. Other than the very finely chosen furniture and art pieces all around the hotel, what we were most impressed with was their staff. Amelia is super warm and friendly to us, literally on our second encounter she recognized us and almost immediately remembered what we like to drink. She definitely takes the experience to a whole new level for us, making us feel right at home. After check out, I noticed there’s a discrepancy in the points and nights posted into my account. Their duty manager Anson was very helpful to assist me, and few days later, he even emailed a follow-up email to notify me that the nights and points have been rectified and properly posted. Yes, we love nice hotels, but passionate hoteliers are what we remember about a hotel many, many years later. Definitely recommend staying here!

It was my worst stay experience at autograph collection. It didn’t have enough hot water EVERYDAY for my 6 day stay and when I complained they told me different things EVERYDAY. And no remedy or refund me to shorten my stay. They did put me in a different room but it still solve the lack of hot water. Also they didn’t put my laundry through well after the pick up time was up even though I left it in my room for pick up early in the morning so it took them two full days to finish my laundry. Lastly, on my last day before checkout, they just didn’t come to do housekeeping. I usually don’t leave a review, not to mention complain about the service publicly, but this time I felt like I need to warn others.

OMG where to start? Basically all style and no substance. Well I had been emailing the property for well over a month to get an idea on an upgrade as a titanium platinum elite member which the day before I arrived they finally did only to find out that we had to remove a lot of the furniture in their top suite that they gave me and have our baggage checked in downstairs as there is literally no room for two people in there top suite. Let me start by the only real help we got was when we checked in at around 11 PM and nice gentleman actually showed us two different suites to choose from and he even took our bags to the room shocking actually as they don’t have staff to do that you have to move your bags in the hotel in and out of the hotel yourself or the ladies at the front desk have to leave there post and do it, so so so weird so when we left and put it in the taxi yourself like your sister property. I just want to say there is no management. End of story but the staff that’s left they really do try but there’s only so much they can do without guidance and proper training. Woke up the following morning only to find out no milk no cream in the room call downstairs 30 minutes later we ask where is our milk and cream? Sorry we ran out we had to run over to our sister property the Duxton and get it for you so that took one hour that’s how our trip began. Stayed four nights finally after the third afternoon because they will not make up your room unless you keep asking them we had to ask them to vacuum and they had not vacuumed in three days and the carpet was full of stuff not sure who is training housekeeping?again he tries he does but left without being trained. I could go on forever let’s go to the lounge it’s very nice but very little to choose from for breakfast nothing hot no buffet continental and everybody complains although we stayed at the hotel and it was quite empty. Every property who charges these prices and claims to be 5 star has buffet breakfast or you can order hot off a menu but not this place again beautiful chairs in the lounge I must say. Fair warning for breakfast it closes at 10:30 you need to be down there by 10:05 at the latest as that’s last call for seating kind of funny when they serve nothing hot unless you pay for them they’ll make you something hot. As far as the hors d’oeuvres for evening there actually quite good the cocktails are pretty difficult as it’s a very military run hotel lots of rules and little staff. Your allowed 4 cocktails not bad selection but not great no champagne only cheap Prosecco never seen that in 5 star hotel but as platinum Titanium Elite you’re allowed two special drinks off the menu per person per stay that one through us for a real loop,Again staff tries very hard but no leadership. The hotel is all about the chairs the furniture all the Louis Vuitton boxes even the lobby has four chairs to honor soldiers but you’re not allowed to sit on them so there’s nowhere to sit in the lobby you really need to go through the property before you stay there and ask a lot of questions is my suggestion for me I would never come back in the morning don’t even think of calling downstairs people are checking out nobody answers the phone do you want milk you go downstairs to the lounge get it yourself and take it to your room don’t even think about them bringing it up unless you yell and scream and that’s not my style and once again you have to be able to stay in a very very small room.
