Detailed Reviews
We have atleast 2 months to prepare for our SIN-KUL trip. I have to prepare the bookings and budget. So, I almost read every review of every budget hotel around. I'm having a hard time deciding which to choose coz almost all budget hotels has really unsatisfying review.
So, I gave this hotel a try. I booked thru agoda and hoping for the best. We arrived early at the hotel, around 11 in the morning before noon. The lady front desk check our documents and informed us that our room wasn't available yet but she said that once the other guest check out, she will have it clean right away. We decided to go roam around and left our luggages at the hotel (it is a plus to a hotel accommodation who accepts luggage storage whenever the guest arrived early or have an evening flight). Actually, before choosing hotel, I was thinking of booking our accommodation with airbnb (condos for rent) but then we will not be allowed to left our luggages whenever we arrived earlier than the check in time.
Location: it is wise. Near littler India, lots of small resto beside it. We always eat in the beside resto of the hotel. They aren't bad it actually taste good and the food stalls owner are friendly (both singaporean and indian). So, food will not be a problem. If you are a bit of classy and want some fast food meals, this hotel got you covered. Coz across the street was the city square mall. Also, convenient stores are available
Transportation: Singapore is a really easy access in terms of transportation. But in this hotel, you can access the Farrer Road station of MRT line. But be sure to grab their map for the different MRT lines to make sure that you will get on the right track. Also, buses are convenient. 1 bus stop was around 5 mins walk but there's alao a bus stop around 2 mins walk near the hotel. It depends on the route of the bus. I suggest, to use the google map. It is very accurate from the number of the bus you have to take, from the minutes and stop of the bus and even if there's a seating or normally crammed standing.
Rooms: As I've seend from other reviews, they said that it is dirty, really small and AC is not working. But based on my experience, we booked a budget hotel so there's limit with the space but let me tell you this: the family room that we stayed is really much spacious they even have small refrigerator. They are also generous with the pillow, we have 2 pillows each (other hotel only have 1 pillow for each guest). AC is working fine, Television with fox movies. Bathroom, yep it is small but really functional.
Wifi: they only allowed 1 gadget per guest check in to use the wifi. Well, for that it really doesn't matter. Also, wifi is a bit fast compared to our signal from Philippines! 😂
Staffs/service: All of them are accommodating and really friendly. Always leave a smile to every guest.
Tip: to save some money, they refill the mineral bottle every day and they also have station for hot water, if you want coffee or tea. But for us, before going to bed, we fill up our thermos with hot water and left it open so that in the morning it will be cold and we can place it in the refrigerator and then it is ready to go.
Suggestion for the management: I really hope that you can put water dispenser in every floor. So that you don't have to refill the water bottles in every room. This will saves mother earth. Coz after we check out, all we had was empty 1 used bottle container that goes directly to the trash.
Lastly, if I will be given an opportunity to go back to Singapore, I will definitely book again in this hotel. Thank you so much!

Dear all I am not frequent person to Trip adviser and this hotel made me to strike this review, I think my experience may help for some people who really think that the hotel is very good as per review, I am really surprised and shocked how this Hotel has a 3 Star status. Broken chairs with unhygienic conditions and adamant nature of staff made me irritated. This hotel is not worth for the amount we pay. Really A disaster for me to see such situation. Beware and don’t trust the pictures in Any site which are not yet all true..... Be careful before you choose. Sorry guys this review is with my experience only not to blame anybody... request to the management please try to improve. One incident to your notice that a European lady begging the staff for hot water in toilet. Is it right way to deal with the clients.we expect hygienic environment and little eminities that’s it.

Hi, I’m sorry to hear about all your comments. We do value constructive and honest feedback. We know everybody is entitled to his/her own opinion. Your comments are vague which makes it harder for me to investigate the actual reasons for your remarks. Your reference to the ‘broken chair’ you referred to should be the dismantle able chair we have in the rooms. I can assure you they are not ‘broken”. Your remark about ‘Unhygienic condition” perplexed me. We are not the top notched 5-star hotels but I can assure you that all our amenities are clean and hygienic. I have also investigated on your passing comment about an European old lady. The only incident that closely matched your description was a lady who didn’t know how to operate the water heater within the room and wondered along the corridor seeking help for hot water. Our staff responded immediately and assisted her with her concerns. She was very thankful for our quick respond. Have a nice day.

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights with my Family. This is one of the worst hotels I ever stayed in my life.I don't know how people post some good reviews here?? Bedsheets never changed and found hair all over at first day.The toilet is so small there is no space for any shower. If you are tired and wished to sleep, forget about it. You can hear everything that is going on in the next room.People coming late night and banging the doors are normal things.Staff is nice except one named 'Spencer". I never deal with a rude arrogant person with the worst attitude.he felt like he owned this hotel and we are his slaves. We even witnessed he was yelling and arguing with a family with kids in front of others. There is no manager or anyone you can go and ask anything. If you are with the family please stay away from this filthy hotel or you have to keep your kids away from the noise from the other room.

We travelled from Australia on the 18th of March and arrived in Tai Hoe around 6pm and we were greeted by a rude receptionist. The receptionist indicated that the card we used to book the hotel was declined, however we didn't receive any emails which should be confirming it was declined. We tried to show him the emails from my phone but he refused to check and not listen. Very unprofessional. We did not have any choice but to book another hotel right then and there because they were fully booked which clearly means that they gave our reserved room for them to accommodate all their guest. I am glad this happened though because we booked at Mandarin Orchard Hotel all the staff were helpful and nice, the extra payment was worth it, for Mandarin Orchard hotel. NEVER RECOMMEND TAI HOE HOTEL....

Hi Ms Catherine Co, I am the guest relations manager and I am deeply distressed to read your review. I have since investigated and obtained my staff's side of the story. Indeed there was a glitch in the system which my booking manager at booking.com has acknowledged. The credit card details were declined and we filed a request for another credit card in order to guarantee the booking as we were running at a close to full house situation. I have sent a personal message to obtain your side of the story but since I have not received a response, I have decided to respond based on my findings. My staff did offer a room despite the declined credit card status, though he mentioned there would be an approximately one hour wait for a late check out. Unfortunately, you declined the offer and chose to check in to Mandarin Hotel, a five star establishment, and compared it to us, a budget hotel. We are flattered that you hold us in such esteem though I am extremely disappointed not to have been able to host you appropriately on this occasion. Please feel free to get in touch with booking.com regarding their system glitch. On our part, I will be delighted to be of service to you should you come back any time. Have a good day and thank you for having booked with us. Regards, Cliff Gay

The hotel is in good location. Very close to the mrt and bus stops. Clean enough and the staff are very friendly. However, like any other hotel they are not perfect. First, the room where we stayed of has sockets that aren't working. Second, you have to wash your own caps and glasses. Third, the wifi although it's free is super slow and they changed the password everyday so you have to ask for the password for that day at the reception. Apart from those inconveniences, they change the towels everyday, clean the room everyday, staff are very friendly and accomodating, location
is really good and the price is reasonable.

I stay here every time I'm in Singapore for business.
Pros: The rates are amazingly reasonable, especially for Singapore. There is a great food court just beside the hotel. The hotel is close to Serangoon Rd, opposite the City Square mall and just down the road from Mustafa Shopping Centre besides being close to most parts of the city. Shopping, food and sightseeing are ridiculously convenient: there now, the phrase that strikes you immediately about this hotel is "Affordable Convenience" and in a place like Singapore where most hotels are ridiculously priced, this is a steal.
Cons: Depends on what you're expecting. You can't get a Raffles experience for this price. The rooms are smallish and the AC does tend to get quite cold. The staff are friendly, most of the time.
Overall, if you're visiting Singapore on anything like a budget, this is the place to be. :)

We planned this holiday for our kids to visit Universal Studio and Sea Aquarium. Hotels that near Sentosa Island are quite expensive and we were not in the hotel most of the time, we just a place to sleep. We didn't take up B & B because with the young kids, it is more convenient for us to have our own room with bathroom. This hotel is super convenient, opposite the hotel is City Square Shopping Mall, Farrer Park MRT station is connected with the mall, few steps away from the hotel is Mustafa Center that open 24 hours, you still do your shopping after mid-night. You can able to buy many cheap items in Mustafa. Next to the hotel is the small food court that serve Indian and Chinese food.
We just walk about 5 minutes to the MRT station, took MRT few stops away to Harbor Front station to change Sentosa Express to Sentosa Island, traveling was easy for us and our children didn't feel that they need to walk a lot.
We wanted to book triple room but was fully booked, we end up booked the double room and add extra mattress. The hotel is old, the room is small but clean, the staff are friendly and did housekeeping daily. The only thing we hope the hotel to improve is to provide proper blankets, we only have bedsheets as blankets and it was so cool for us during mid-night. Luckily we brought extra jackets for our children, you might need to bring extra clothes or own blankets.
Overall with this budget, we are happy with this hotel.

we just came back from Singapore. stayed in tai hoe hotel from 11th of October to 16th,2013. initially we were disappointed when we checked with the size of the room and attached bathroom. but the staff is very friendly, very helpful and co-operative. special thanks to miss.Nora and one more gentlemen whose name we forgot to take. he was there on the day when we checked in. hotel is very conveniently located to MRT,mustafa ,which is just infront of the hotel, indian restaurants are just walkable distance. city square mall is opposite to the hotel. last but not the least it is hotel within the budget especially in a place like Singapore. I hope the hotel continues to be good not overly priced, if at all they wish to do so then they must provide a good comfortable rooms and better facilities.

Pros:
1. Great location
2. Friendly staff specially Mr. WIN and Mr. SPENCER. They helped a lot planning our visit to places of interest.
3. They sell day excursions ticket in very competitive price.
4. 2 minutes walk from Mustafa center (24/7 super shop)
5. Lots of restaurants nearby
5. MRT stations very nearby
In short, it's a great hotel if you are in singapore for shopping
Cons:
1. Room is small
2. Washroom is very small
3. No amenities at all
4. AC is centrally controlled and you'll feel warm inside the room :(. Their lobby or corridor is much cooler than that of the rooms
5. They could be a bit flexible regarding early check-in. They charge 70S$ and only after 7:00am if room is available.

Pictures look much nicer then in real life, we had our young son and we're only provided with a mattress on the ground for him to sleep on, it was very thin ! There were black hairs & yellow stains all over the linen and bedding, the bathroom smelt like damp mould and none of us wanted to shower so avoided it at all costs, the hallways smelt of thick cigarette smoke, we were so dissatisfied when we came here was horrible, we decided the best action was to just close our eyes so we couldn't see any of it and go to sleep, thank god it was only for one night. Location wise good but that is all. We arrived at midnight and our room still wasn't made up on top of that someone had to come up and make the room up. Regret booking this hotel.
