Stay for two nights, room was fairly dusty, bits of left over hair in the toilet. Overall still exceptional, thought price per night was in the higher end. Good facility swimming pool & gym. Wouldn’t recommend the spa.
First thing first, golf must be the reason you are reading this. Second, a vacation is long overdue - not necessarily from your viewpoint. Far away from the maddening crowd of downtown Singapore will be your secret wish. (Don't tell the wife) Orchid is the last of the 27-hole golf course with full-fledged night golfing facilities. The scenic view - both on course as well as from the balcony of your room is a balm to soothe even the most world-wearied corporate warriors. The grounds is huge with more swimming pools than your can remember. A real gym, tennis courts and conference facilities completes the list. The auto-tee-up driving range is a must-see.
The room looked exactly like the photos shown online -Very spacious. The Aircon ventilators needs to be cleaned or painted as there are black marks seen. The staffs needs to smile more and try to strike conversations and greet the guests. Booked a family room and there is a smoking area allowed at the balcony. The view was amazing just sad that we cant go into the golf green after hours. NTUC there is closed down for good so better come prepared with all the snacks and drinks unless you intend to head out. Free parking is also available on site. Overall, it's not bad for a country club. We would return again once social gathering is allowed.
Stayed at this hotel as I wanted to explore the wildlife on the rivers edge, but it was out of bounds and only accessible to those playing golf. My room was wonderfully large and clean. There was a minibar in my room. Despite having a price list on the door the minibar itself was empty. The hotel advertises an on-site NTUC Supermarket - long since closed. Restaurants appear run down generally. Bowling alley was closed. No vending machines for snacks. Saw some nice dragonflies and sunbirds in the grounds. Not too expensive if you book on the day, but I don’t think I would return. One night was enough.
We had a 2 day stay at OCC deluxe room. As is perhaps already evident from other comments but still clearly putting it out there - rooms are (property in general) dated and do require a overall revamp rather than temp fixes. Cleanliness isn't the perfect one (we did spot some spider webs, ants, cockroaches) though these were fixed once highlighted at reception. What compensates for these shortcomings is the balcony and the view. What can't be replaced is good hospitality and unfortunately even there OCC falls short. The staff especially at veranda cafe shows no politeness. Even front desk staff is quite indifferent with no greetings or warmth. Our refuge was par lounge which had a nice and cosy ambience with decent service. To enjoy here, it's best to come prepared( for e.g. even get your plates, as they won't provide it unless you order something from their local restaurant). Everything like some ice,or an extra bottle of water etc is chargeable which other hotels may mostly not charge for. We didn't try out any other restaurants as reviews online were mixed. If one is a member (makes it more reasonable) & can make peace with the old rooms, indifferent service, comes prepared and are self sufficient to enjoy your room then one can indeed enjoy the peace and quiet with a wonderful view..…
