Good location; right next to Chinatown, with plenty of shopping malls and food centers and hawker stands close by. The MRT station is also about a five minute walk away...very convenient.

KēSa House is will maintained, clean, bright and inviting. The rooms are cozy and the bathroom is cozier. The control panel at the door is useless...think its just for show now. None of the functions in my room were controlled. The AC was not centralized, not sure what the point of the control panel was. The blanket is thick and gets very hot when the AC decides to take a break. I woke up sweating several nights. The in room refrigerator doesn't really keep things all that cool...the water was barley chilled. I found it better to use the communal refrigerator. The room has a kettle for hot water.

There is a laundry area on the third floor. The machines operate on coins that need to be obtained from the front desk. I believe it's $5 a load. The communal area on the second floor is very clean, and all the guests seem pretty respectful. Label your items items and put them in the communal fridge or freezer. There is a water station that dispenses carbonated water and regular water as well... Brilliant! You also get two glass bottles to refill water.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. KēSa House is akin to an upscale Motel 6.

As others have said, this is a very pretty hotel set in renovated shophouses in Chinatown. Because it is set across multiple buildings there are some uneven floor transitions – 1 or 2 steps from the lounge area to the hallway leading to the rooms, small slopes between 2 flat hallway sections, a step up to the bathroom and so on. It is not a place for those needing disabled access but otherwise the small floor transitions should present no real issues. There is a kitchen that is minimally equipped but has a great coffee machine that is available at all times plus a fridge, microwave and a drinking water dispenser with glass bottles in the sleeping room that could be filled from the dispenser. The outdoor terrace was pretty wet during my stay but I am sure that it is nice in good weather. It was particularly good to have access to a washing machine after a couple of months on the road washing clothes in bathroom sinks. The communal lounge area was not as good as I had hoped. The sofa and 2 armchairs were often occupied by guests who had checked out but were not ready to leave for their flight and it seemed that they were usually families with bored children. I am not sure that there is a solution but I was disappointed to find the area occupied for extended periods.

My 1st room was on the 3rd floor with no windows and quite claustrophobic. For a small additional payment I moved to the 2nd floor where rooms are just as small but have big windows giving the illusion of much more space. My room was at the front of the building and a bit noisy at night because of the local bars. The reception staff are happy to supply earplugs and Singapore closes at midnight anyway so it wasn’t a huge issue for me. My tip is that you don’t book the cheaper standard room but instead pay extra to get one with windows and if noise sensitive negotiate for a room at the back of the building.

The rooms are small but functional and certainly all that is needed for a few nights. There was a fridge, safe, kettle (but no cups or tea/coffee) and even an iron and board. The wifi was excellent. The staff were incredibly helpful printing a document for me and helping with directions. The hotel is close to 2 subway stations and the Maxwell Food Centre. Overall, I was very happy with my 3 nights there and would go back again.

Dear Jane, Thank you for sharing your feedback and highlighting the positive aspects of your stay at our hotel. We appreciate your kind words about our well-connected location and the charm of our renovated shophouses. While we strive to ensure a comfortable stay for all our guests, we understand that certain accessibility needs may not be fully met due to the historical nature of our building. We appreciate your understanding and hope that these transitions did not significantly impact your overall experience. We take note of your feedback regarding the communal lounge area as well, and will explore possible solutions to ensure a more enjoyable experience for all guests. We are pleased to know that you had an enjoyable stay with us overall. Thank you for choosing us for your three-night stay, and we would be delighted to welcome you back again in the future. Till then, safe travels! Best Regards, The Kesa House Team

The hotel is located in a beautiful street with exclusively renovated houses. Perfectly located between two MRT stations, within walking distance of countless bars and restaurants and around the corner from the famous Michelin Star snack bar in the Chinese Food Hawker. Booking and reception were uncomplicated and very friendly. The hotel is a bit winding, it is an old building, but everything has been superbly renovated and tastefully decorated. We had two rooms (Studio Premier) on the 2nd floor, with a view of the park, one of them with a large terrace. The rooms were very spacious and well laid out. The small kitchen for the general public is very practical, the water dispenser in particular was great. The only negative point is that there is no breakfast and you have to look for something in the area. I can understand the criticism about the noise in the other reviews, but you can't live centrally and not want to have any noise. The construction with wooden beamed ceilings also leads to footstep noise from the rooms above, but everything is within the scope of normal use. Otherwise a perfect hotel for a vacation in Singapore, location/price/facilities are great. We would love to come back!

We spent a week at this boutique hotel in the heart of Chinatown. We had a premium room which gave us a lovely big room with a great private balcony which overlooks a quiet walkway with lots of trees. The large bed was really comfortable and the bathroom had plenty of room. The hotel also has a shared kitchen well fitted out, a shared sitting room and a laundry. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is close to 3 MRT stations and there are plenty of restaurants and bars in the immediate area. The hotel does not provide breakfast but you can make your own. We preferred to go to the Ya Kun Kaya Toast cafe opposite Maxwell MRT Station each morning which is very popular with locals

Gorgeous boutique hotel with exceptional service (all staff) and excellent amenities.

Loved the exterior shophouse architecture as much as the clean, cozy and modern interior.

Fresh ground coffee are available throughout the day. A couple of local snacks are offered in glass jars to give the nostalgic shophouse/home vibe.

Conveniently located near MRT stations, short walking distance Maxwell Hawker Center, restaurant and clubs.

Laundry @ $10 for wash & dry is probably the best amenity during our 10 days stay…

We’ll be back!!

Location – Smack in the middle of all these Keong Saik happenings with easy access to plenty of food and drinks, both cheap or fancy whichever you prefer. It is also a 10mins stroll to Chinatown Complex where plenty of local calories await. The property is unsheltered to elsewhere though so if it rains, too bad.

he lobby is a really nice place to wait in! The cosy space is tastefully done up in hues of their signature olive green (happy to be corrected if anyone knows what exactly this color is) and has a fancy living room vibe where chilling on one of the comfy seats are perfectly acceptable. The scent is a dream too!

Room – my standard room, 305, was located on level 3, the highest level of this property. At 13SqM, you see everything in one glance and I’m impressed that the clever design even allowed a queen size Simmons bed. Everything else in the compact room is made up of clever designs which makes every corner fully functional and adequate for a short stay. You also need to know that this room type does not come with a proper window which could bother some.

And of course, the bathroom! Compact as expected but everything is clean and spotless which matters more to me – and it looking fancy is a plus too.

The most obvious drawback of staying in such a property is the poor soundproofing. I mean, I couldn’t hear the streets but I could very well hear the 2 rooms of guests opposite having the time of their lives from 7+pm onwards til midnight-ish chatting at deafening volume, then crossing to each other’s rooms causing slamming and persistent knocking booms well into the night.

Level 2: you’ll find the Kesa Kitchen, Kesa Lounge, and Kesa Terrace here. The Kitchen is where you’ll find communal cooking facilities, fridge, microwave, as well as a coffee machine which are sadly closed due to COVID-19 regulations. The only working thingy here is your water dispenser where you get to have your fill of still or sparkling water on tap.

Level 3: the Launderette is located at one corner of the level where you’ll find 2 laundry machines as well as a sitting area to stone in while you wait. Washing powder is also provided.

A fun stacay for a weekday indeed!

A lovely hotel with warm, welcoming helpful staff, with great recommendations for places to eat and things to do. I chose a room with a terrace and it was lovely. The building is charming, the aircon and wifi are strong, and it is the *most comfortable* bed I’ve ever slept on! The location can’t be beaten. About 8 minute walk to 2 different MRT stations, a million restaurants and local eateries at your door (go to Maxwell centre!). I loved that there are communal areas including a kitchen (including a filtered water tap to refill water bottles, and even a sparkling water tap (yes!!). Also a common laundry and a lounge room. Very pleasant vibes all round, with lovely decor and chilled vibe. The only con is my room (level 2) was above a bar that played loud music at night. The first night it bothered me, but it may have been the jet-lag as I adjusted to it the next few nights. That is the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. There may have even been a statement about potential noise but I probably overlooked it! Would still stay here again. One of the best places I’ve stayed!!

Kesa House was in a great location and was a clean, comfortable hotel. The staff were very helpful to us with our early morning check-in, luggage storage and taxi booking. While this hotel has small rooms and doesn't have the amenities of a big hotel, the facilities are still great. I particularly enjoyed the filtered water and coffee available. Usually I have to buy so much water while travelling so this was sustainable and healthy. The location is in a nice dining district, so there can be some noise from the street but it didn't go too late into the night. We will definitly be staying at Kesa house or its sister properties next time we visit Singapore.

Reception and Staff
The staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. The check in and check out process is all personalised.
Room
I booked the Standard room for a night. Its really small but the surprising thing is despite no window, it does not feel suffocating. The aircon is very powerful. Wifi and channel TV makes your stay cosy and comfy. It can even be a good workaction. The toilet is also very functional and nicely designed, with Ashley and Co washing foam bath, shampoo and conditioner. Everything just seemed to fit into the little space. And given the price, I would say its definitely value for money. The rooms are no frills, no fancy toiletries and everything were planned on environmentally friendly purpose, like the water jars in in room where you can get sparkling water from the pantry at level 2.
One very special mention is the bed, I had never snoozed so well for so long. The bed is just so comfy and the pillows too.
Facilities
If there is no COVID, the common pantry at level 2 is a place for people to mingle and also cook. There is also a garden terrace too. But now they are closed for safe distancing and hygiene purpose.
Location
The location is superb, you really do not need to drive here because the Outram park MRT is within walking distance and the Chinatown hawker centre is like only 100m away. Keong Saik st is also a hipster place with many nice bars and restaurants,
Not sure about some reviews which mentioned the noise because there was dining in at the restaurants then. I was lucky and did not face that problem. Really love this hotel and highly recommend!

Pros:
This hotel was located in a fantastic location. The street had lots of upscale modern restaurants but was also within walking distance of hawker centres including the Chinatown complex and Maxwell. It was also within easy walking distance of the train and bus stops. The hotel itself was very clean, had modern decor and many great sustainability measures. There was free coffee and snacks available as well! The staff were always very polite and helpful.

Cons:
Since it is on a street of many popular restaurants and bars, it can be a bit noisy particularly on a Saturday night. We were pretty tired so it didn't bother us too much. It would probably be less of an issue though if you had a room that didn't face the street. The wifi in the common area was great but a bit spotty and cut out frequently in the room.

Overall, I would stay here again and would recommend as long as you're not a light sleeper.

Hello, This would be the direction from the Airport via public transport: "take the train from Changi Airport and alight at Tanah Merah MRT station (2 stops away). Transfer to the direction for the train that's headed towards Jurong East / Tuas. Alight at Outram Park Station. Head towards the Purple North-East Line (NEL) and exit via Exit H. Then head to ground floor (2 escalators up). Once you've reach ground floor, walk straight, you should see a Jean Yip Salon building. Continue straight till you see the BACK OF the Sri Layan Sithi Vinayagar Indian Temple. On your right, turn right 2 times. So you should be at the front of the Indian Temple now, walk straight until you see KēSa House on your right." It will cost around $1-2++ It is walkable but I'll say it would take around 20mins or so, depending on your walking speed too, to get to the Marina Bay Precinct area. Another option would be the public transport which will set you back for around $1++ that's less than 10mins journey. Hope this helps! Christine, Community Host
