The hotel is well maintained, rooms are spacious and luxurious. I checked in for some time away from the usual city bustle and was not disappointed. The toilet view extends into greenery and a lot of peace. The room is filled with the best amenities, a gorgeous bath tub, beautiful couch that acted as a reading nook for me and a plush bed. I slept and woke naturally - the best feeling in the world. Because I wanted to stay in, I indulged in ordering room service and I'm so glad to say that I was not disappointed. Chicken rice was delicious and the chocolate lava cake was very indulgent; perfect for my vacay mood. The massage parlour found within the compound was a great experience as well - only thing to note is that it is a tad difficult to locate, so just make sure you plan it out and leave your room about 10 minutes earlier! The massage was just what I needed, definitely worth the walk ;) Service was five-star throughout the property - from the welcome to the exit, at the restaurants and the housekeeping. Will definitely return if I had a chance to ♡ …
Great helpful staff and spent a wonderful 2 days here. Shana was a great help and appeared genuine when speaking to guests. Dayan was very helpful and patient too: we kept returning with more and more luggages lol. Thank you for the wonderful stay!
Booked the deluxe garden room. Very poorly maintained, overall stay feels more like a rundown chalet than a 5 star hotel. I back up everything I say below with pictures where possible. Due to the open concept bathtub and poor ventilation, there was mould in many corners - beneath the glass doors, on the curtain, on the ceiling. FYI, mould produces allergens, irritants and, sometimes, toxic substances. Inhaling or touching mould spores may cause an allergic reaction, such as sneezing, a runny nose, red eyes and skin rash. Please go and google how mould can be harmful. The shower area and toilet bowl area are separate areas that are side by side. To save space, the door of the shower and toilet bowl area is a sliding one, BUT YOU CAN ONLY CHOOSE TO CLOSE ONE OF IT. Best thing is both areas are directly facing the bed. So you either sleep with the shower drain or sleep with the toilet bowl. If your partner needs to take a dump, good luck because you either wait outside the room or just sit in the room and stew in the stench. Because of the open concept bathtub and no clear demarcation between bedroom and washroom, we felt like you’re living in a big toilet. Similar to what other reviewers have said, bath robes are not found in the room at the first instance — they are only available upon request. The bath robes are NOT the fluffy white robes that one would expect from most other five-star hotels. It was a THIN, patterned piece of fabric — just imagine those random patterned rags that are sold at Bangkok night markets for 10 baht. That is the bathrobe of a 5 star hotel that is available only upon request. We stayed for 3D2N and asked for the bedsheets to be changed on the second day. They agreed to the request BUT the sheets were not changed after we came back in the evening. There was the exact same stain on the sheets. Most five-star hotel hotels have branded toiletries like le labo or balmain. We have no issues with house brand toiletries but HFC’s one is so light that it has almost no scent which just screams chalet. When we wanted to brush our teeth, we realised both dental kits WERE EMPTY BOXES. We had to call to request for toothbrushes and toothpaste. Poor soundproofing. The door is immensely heavy and we hear a loud slam whenever our neighbour leaves the room. Was also woken by housekeepers talking outside the room in the morning — it was so clear and loud that it felt they were just inside the room. HFC touts itself as a “heritage” hotel, but it is not an excuse to be poorly maintained with mould, stains, and dust over the place. I wouldn’t stay here even if you paid me to.…
An overall disappointing stay, will not be back and will highly recommend against staying here. Mostly let down by the service and (lack of) attention from the staff; based on other reviews here, this seems to be consistently brought up, something the management ought to look into. 1. Asked for gym and pool opening hours during check-in and was met with a disgruntled look from front desk lady where she had to ask her colleagues for the info (surely a FOH staff would know the answer to this what I presume is a basic question?). This was followed up with an audible sigh where we asked another question to clarify. Great start to our stay with such hospitality. 2. Called front desk to report about the faulty mini fridge in our room and requested for their assistance, staff who answered the call gave us a sarcastic response where we were reminded that it was not supposed to be a freezer. Not sure where this sass is coming from the front desk, extremely uncalled for. After assuring said front desk staff that we knew what a mini-fridge can/cannot do, they sent a maintenance staff to look at it; this was a much better and understanding staff who replaced it right away after diagnosing the issue. Props to him, the only saving grace of HFC thus far. 3. Also called front desk to request for a few items on separate instances, specifically forks and extra water. Extremely slow with their service. Cutleries appeared when we were almost done with our meal, while the extra water never appeared. Also asked for an extra chair for the room since there were 2 of us staying in the room which took forever to arrive as well. Not sure where this delay in comms is between front desk and housekeeping. 4. Walls were quite thin so our sleep was quite disrupted by other noisy guests. 5. Limited power points in room, and not strategically located. There were only 3 in the room - 1 used for Nespresso machine, 1 near the telephone, and 1 next to the bed. To make things worse, the one next to the bed was faulty and unusable. Hard to believe this is a 5-star hotel with such below average service, amenities and hospitality. We were really looking forward to staying at HGC for a relaxing long weekend, but unfortunately it turned out to be such a huge disappointment.…
We would like to compliment a staff, Nash, on his wonderful service and for recommending great places to go to throughout our stay at the hotel. Breakfast at The Salon was also wholesome thanks to a very friendly, cute and bubbly waiter, who seemed to be in his 50s. He knew when to make small talk and it was nice. Unfortunately we did not have the opportunity to ask for his name. Even the housekeepers were polite and housekeeping was done efficiently. The room was always clean and grooming kits/water bottles/toiletries were always stocked. Really enjoyed our stay there. Keep up the excellent work!
