Very Budget accomodation. Our rooms reeked of tobacco which for a non smoker is disgusting. Very small room with no cupboards. Nice air-conditioning but noisy in the small room. The shower and toilet are so close together you can do both at the same time. I chose to go budget accomodation and got more than I bargained for. The positives...

The location is ok. Around 5 mins walk to Maxwell Food Center. Around 20 -25 mins walk to Marina Bay. No window in the room, not clean enough as I found ant on the table. However it is just SG$100 per night, can't expect to much but just accept. Even though there are 2 bars next to the hotel, we...

Good: Location Bad: The noise. The walls don't keep out any noise from neighbouring rooms. There is constant noise through the night as many couples only stay for an hour or 2. They shower (noisy plumbing), use the bed, shower and leave. The noisy 24 hour cleaning service move in (even at 3:00 am) & another couple may move in...

Location of the hotel was great because it was near places I was interested to visit such as the Buddha Tooth Relic temple/museum, Sri Mirriamin temple and Chinatown (many hawker stalls and souvenir shops). Its also near the Outram MRT station to travelling to further off places and even the airport was very easy. Staff were friendly and accommodating, going...

A bit expenssive hotel, for the quality you get. Service was really nice and everything worked well. Booked through agonda, so ot may be the reason for expensive rooms. Rooms are small, i mean really small. Good for few nights, but not for a longer trip. Aircon worked, bed was ok. Bathroom and shower worked, but no luxury here. Location...

The front office staff Paul was very friendly (it is quite rare to see smiling faces in SG), when we were unable to find money exchange due to our night arrival, he went out of the extra mile with the willingness to assist us with our dilemma. Keep it up, Paul and Hotel 81. It is also strategically located to...

The location of this hotel is great. You can chose to use either MRT OUTRAM exit H or MRT CHINA TOWN exit A. It's easy to find food around Chinatown. However, it may take 10-15 mins to go to each MRT station depending on your step. For the room, I got the room in front of the building and beside...

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colourful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
