Great for walkers
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
One way or another, you know your stay in Singapore is going to be an expensive one, unless you are willing to seriously give in on terms of comfort, cleanliness and safety.
Orchid Hotel is offering exactly that 4,1 star experience as reviewed here. Pleasant and comfortable rooms that offer good nightrest. Clean bathroom and bedroom with daily roomservice.
If looking to save some money, there is the option of scoring some food in Chinatown. Shopping, living and eating here is cheaper than in most upscale neighborhoods of Singapore, making the hotel combined with location a good choice in my Singapore experience.

The property of the Orchid Hotel is quite beautiful. It has sprawling resort grounds, golf course, and swimming pool. It even has a good, well stocked, grocery store. The reception was helpful and attentive. This is the first time we have stayed at this hotel, so we don’t know what the other hotel rooms look like. The condition of our hotel room was a little below average. While we had a great view of the golf course with a beautiful sunrise view, the bathroom/en-suite was an entirely different situation. It wasn’t being maintained properly and had some mold issues and a fruit fly problem. The fruit flies were coming from inside the ceiling above the shower. Even though room service applied insect treatment, it didn’t resolve the issue. I actually liked the hotel and the employees, but the room itself needed more heavy duty maintenance.

Orchid Hotel is a 20-storey city hotel located in Singapore's Central Business District, Tanjong Pagar. During the Covid-19 pandemic, it's considered as comfortable and convenient stay. Safe Management practices are in place which a couple of restrictions but inevitable for safety. No more buffets foods but serve set meals and limited number of guests using the facilities. Specially mention and applaud staff; Cindy and Carmen who provided good services which they are prompt, helpful and serve with passion and smiles. Certainly an asset to the Organisation. Good location with a nearby train station also easy access to public transport, supermarket, F & B outlets.

This Hotel have been recently undergone renovations and may be one of the best options in its price range. Given Singapore's insane accommodation costs, ifinding a decent hotel in a good location can be challenging and, for me, this hotel finds that balance.
The newly renovated lobby is tastefully done, and the reception service is quite good. The breakfast is pretty standard for Singapore.
The rooms are really big and clean enough. The shower is escellent as is the bed and linens. The only downside is that the mini fridge doesn't cool things down very well.
The location is fantastic: within walking distance to the charming Chinatown, the business hub of Robinson Road, and Maxwell Hawker.
Overall, it's a great choice, and I always return to this hotel when in Singapore for work.

Spacious, renovated and well located near cute restaurants on Tras Street. The Orchid could be a great local brand but they nickel & dimed me, requesting prepayment and then refusing to change the length of my stay because prepaying doesn’t allow refunds. This on the busiest night of the year when F1 racing fans are clamoring for rooms — the very reason they asked me to pay ahead. The difference? $600 more.
This petty inflexibility is what differentiates a great hotel with a dedicated following from a local bus tour hotel that would rather capture ever last penny than commit to hospitality. Same is true with their lousy wifi — which didn’t work half the time and couldn’t admit until asked.

Dear Craig B, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience regarding your recent stay with us. We regret to learn that you had a frustrating experience. Our record showed that you booked your stay from 12 to 15 Sep 2023 via our hotel reservation platform. You arrived on 11 Sep 23:30 hrs and requested to check in for your room booked from the 12 Sep and cancel your stay on the 14 Sep. Our front desk staff was able to arrange a room for your early check in on 11 Sep even though the hotel was running at full occupancy. Our staff informed you that we could cancel your 14 Sep room stay but it was non refundable. We were not able to practise flexibility for the 1 night as the terms and conditions of non-cancellable, non-amendable, non refundable and hotel check in time of 2pm were all clearly communicated on our reservation platform and the confirmation letter sent to you via email. In addition the room cancellation was too short a notice for the hotel to sell off the room even though it was the F1 season. We truly apologise for the wifi breakdown and inconvenience you experienced during your stay. This was due to a power trip on 13 Sep afternoon which caused a network hardware failure. Our engineering team had the hardware replaced and wifi was back to normal on the 15 Sep. The team has taken steps to ensure this does not happen again. Nonetheless, we appreciate your support and heartened that you liked our newly renovated spacious rooms and location.

I came to Singapore on business but arrived a day early to get settled in and to see the sites for a day. From the moment I walked through the beautiful entry doors I received a warm welcome from the staff. The check in was very smooth and they clearly explained the amenities for my room and how they worked. I was absolutely exhausted after a 19 hour flight so I retreated to my room which was stunning, cool, and clean. After a great nights sleep I went downstairs to begin my day of exploration. Jimmy the doorman was the first smiling face I saw and he was thrilled to give me a map and help me navigate the MRT (metro). He walked me through the stops, transfers, etc. With his exceptional guidance I was able to get to the flower dome, cloud experience, Marina Bay, and Long Bar. After a long day of touring I got back to the hotel to see Jimmy smiling. He was so relieved to see I was ok given I’d been gone a long time. It was so nice to have someone back at the hotel that cared! For the rest of the week I continued to enjoy Jimmy and the front desk team. All were warm and welcoming throughout my visit. With my room I had complimentary breakfast and enjoyed delicious fresh fruit daily. There were a ton of food options but because I am gluten free, dairy free and egg free I stuck with the fruit. The pool looked wonderful but I did not have a chance to try it as every free moment I had I tried to see some sights. I did a 40 minute boat ride around the city after work (so worth it!), enjoyed the night time safari (Jimmy got me a last minute cab), and then my last day I had a few hours before my flight so the hotel stored my luggage while I did the hop on hop off bus which took me all around the city (highly recommend). Jimmy helped me locate the first bus pickup which was great because I did not have internet access on my phone. By the way time I left I felt like I had a wonderful trip and got to see Singapore which is great because it truly is a once in a lifetime trip for many of us! All I can say is Thank You Jimmy and the Orchid hotel staff for making my trip extra special and fun!

The room was excellent with a great view across the nearby park. The hotel was in a great location right next door to restaurants and within walking distance to Chinatown and the waterfront area. Brilliant place to stay. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The size of the rooms a great surprise and a wonderful pool. In terms of location, it cannot be beaten. It is close to 3 different MRT lines so you are never far away from anything if you need to leave this area.

I cannot rave enough about this hotel. The staff has been amazing to me since I walked through their front door. As a solo traveler, the staff always make sure I have everything I need in order for me to have the best experience. I am so glad I chose to stay here.

wonderful time spent in Singapore in a fantastic hotel. The staff were fantastic, polite and very helpful. I accidently left my Laptop in the taxi and the hotel manager (Mohamad) was able to track down the taxi company, the taxi driver and arranged for my laptop to be returned to me. Great location in the heart of Chinatown, close to hawker dining, markets, trains and the most delicious Ramen restaurant I have ever eaten.

I'm not completely sure but a lot of Asian food is vegetarian. The hotel had a good breakfast buffet that had vegetarian options. Cheaper places to eat though. A lovely eating place was just up the road, turn left and walk past the outside eating area. then cross the road and go down stairs into an arcade. lots of vegetarian choices. You should be fine. finding gluten free food was very hard!
Hello Am not sure if the hotel will pick you up from the airport but there is really no need. The transit system is amazing and very easy to work out. We got one train and transferred to another line which took us right across the road from the hotel. Very easy and cheap. When you alight from the station the hotel is directly across the park (1 mins walk). Hope this helps 😄
I think you will find they will be happy to look after your luggage. We found the front desk to be so awesome. If you were to email them and ask or let them know your situation.
