This little gem of a hotel, situated in one of Singapore’s colourful heritage districts was a very pleasant option for a night’s stay after arriving late to Changi. Located on Joo Chiat street and in the heart of the action, its main impression was left on us by way of the service that we received from the staff and manager, who went out of their way to ensure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed.

Aside from that, the room was basic but nice, possibly in need of a few updates and there was a spot or two on the carpet, although these didn’t affect our overall experience. Also, the walls seemed to be quite thin as we were able to hear just about everything that was being said in the next room! However, at this hotel’s very affordable price point, in an otherwise expensive city, we could not complain.

We didn’t try breakfast but the adjoining cafe looked quite appealing - we would definitely stay again if we end up in this part of Singapore in future.

I enjoyed my stay at the AM Hotel. It’s a budget hotel, in a great location in Joo Chiat. The delights of Joo Chiat Road are on your doorstep, but you are close to public transport (buses) at Joo Chiat Complex, and Paya Lebar Quarter is only a ten-minute walk away.

The staff on the front desk are friendly and helpful.

The standard room is small, but satisfactory. Being inside, with no windows, it’s quiet (Joo Chiat can be noisy outside). The bathroom, with shower enclosure, is good for a budget hotel.

The double bed is OK, although the pillows are on the firm side. I particularly liked the multinational plug sockets in the room, which means that you don’t need a plug adapter.

The WiFi is OK. A kettle, mugs and two coffee sachets are supplied in the room. However, you only get two bottles of water when you check-in, not every day, as with most hotels, including budget hotels.

The TV only has a few (free) local TV channels, and not all of them were working.

I paid SGD 152 per night, for my first two weeks, because I booked late, and it was close to National Day. My third and final week was SGD 134 per night.

I hope to pay less than that, when I return to the hotel in late September.

Staying 5 days in this hotel for SHN purpose and noticed the rooms were pretty small + not much things provided in the room (like utensils, room slipper). Checked and request from reception and said need to buy ownself if need to get a slippers. Location wise, quite ok cos nearby got alot of shophouses and geylang seria market. There’s only 1 way to contact the receptionist which is through whatsapp channel. Have to keep remind the receptionist to request room service and it took almost 1 hour. Towels were pretty smelly as if never wash before. Bed is comfortable. Not much expected as per the hotel rating and price though. Just sharing an experience so that can do a comparison. *** Take note they will charge extra 200$ for deep cleaning for SHN people no matter whether positive or negative***

There is no bottled water as the water in Singapore is filtered, the iron and iron board (if there is any), you need to take it by yourself and return it back by yourself. The noise for the pub is very loud with karaoke, but not to worry, you can whatsapp to the reception and they will ask the pub next door to reduce the volume. lovely. I came back close to 9 p.m to my room and my room was not made up. I was upset but the lady at the reception asked me to calm down a bit. They sent someone at 9 p.m to make up mu room even though I had put the green sign on , but the housekeeping did not see it. You should ask people who had their room made up to calm down if they were upset against you. I have all the rights to be upset.

Thinking that I still have two more nights to spend here....

As for the manager, you can keep your excuses to yourself. This is a hotel not B&B.

Pros
Got upgraded to a superior room which was nice. Room was spacious with 1 queen bed and another single bed. Adequate sized bathroom with tub, shower and powder area. Location is nice. Near a supermarket and restaurants.

Cons
Stayed for a week here but no housekeeping ever cleaned our room. Wifi was horrific. Cannot even connect to basic messaging apps. Window cannot be opened. Pathway smelled of smoke even though all rooms we're non-smoking. 2 water bottles we're only provided on the first day as welcome drinks lol. Staff not so friendly.

The metro station is a 15 minute walk. Not very close. The room is very small, but for one night, as we had, it’s not bad.
The reception area is very smoky.
They gave us 2 bottles of water, there is a refrigerator in the room, which, it turns out, is not always the case in hotel rooms in Singapore.
Sockets with triple input, it was impossible to use our Russian devices. This caused some discomfort. Upon contacting the reception with a request for an adapter, we were asked to go look for it in nearby stores (this is at night)

Hotel amenities; Simple and Basic.
Ideal for short-term or stopover stay. The hotel is located in the residential heartland; Restaurants, Hawker Centre, Shopping Malls, Gelang Seria Maket, Malay Village, and MRT Sation are just around the corner.

Great stay. Stopover.
Staff were just fantastic. We arrived early on our first day.
They made us feel so welcome and our room was ready earlier than we expected.
They also gave us a late checkout which made our next flight so much easier.
Room was great. Very clean and comfortable.
The staff at this hotel were just lovely.
Hotel right in the middle of Little India. Lots to see and do.
Easy access to everything Singapore has to offer.
Short walk to the MRT to catch train to Airport with only one change.
Would highly recommend this Hotel and will return again.
Thank you.
