Detailed Reviews
The hotel is walking distance to a nearby mall where you can get food or just shop for things you don't have or want to bring back when you leave the country. A big plus is also a short walk to Singapore's mass railway transit which is so tourist friendly and cheap. We bought the tourist pass at the airport for SG$48 per person that is good for 3 days for unlimited use of their public transport
Back to the hotel, I suggest you only bring 1 suitcase as the room's floor area is small. The airport has luggage storage facilities. The room we got has a king bed, that is also a loft bed if you are more than 3 in your party, Its a unique design. The bathroom is well tiled, hot water always available. There's a nespresso machine that gets replenished daily as well as bottled water. The coffe cups are porcelain like with a gold trim unlike those cheap cardboard cups that some USA hotels provide.
There is only one elevator but it wasn't a problem. The issue i had was the refrigerator in the closet. It wasn't cold and the environment in the closet was warm to hot. I could give my review 5 stars if not for the warm fridge and the tight walking space. Otherwise I would more than likely choose this location if I were to go back to Singapore.

The Serangoon House truly surpassed my expectations with its outstanding facilities and warm hospitality. Despite being a Marriott property, the hotel offered a reasonably priced stay, and I was particularly impressed by the spaciousness of the room. The strategic location in the heart of Little India made it an ideal choice for those wanting to immerse themselves in the vibrant surroundings.
As a Bonvoy Titanium Elite member, my experience was elevated with exclusive access to breakfast and lounge services. The added amenities truly enhanced my stay, making it even more enjoyable. One standout aspect of my visit was the exceptional service provided by David Simon, a member of the Food and Beverage staff. Throughout my stay, his attentiveness and dedication were truly commendable, standing out as one of the finest service experiences I've encountered in my 25 stays at Marriott properties worldwide.
David Simon's commitment to ensuring a memorable experience for guests like myself was evident in every interaction, setting a standard of excellence that significantly contributed to the overall positive impression of Serangoon House. His professionalism and genuine concern for guest satisfaction were a testament to the high standards upheld by the hotel and its staff.
In conclusion, my stay at the Serangoon House not only met but exceeded my expectations, thanks to the combination of a well-appointed facility, the convenience of its location, and the exceptional service provided by dedicated staff members like David Simon. This experience has undoubtedly solidified my positive perception and left me looking forward to future stays with the hotel when I visit SIngapore next.

We were so grateful in a city where hotels are very expensive, to find a hotel that would allow three adults in a room and have enough bed space for them! Singapore hotels usually have a 1 King option or 2 Single bed options, meaning that getting a second room is necessary for more than 2 adults. Here, we enjoyed the king sized bunkbeds, which helped us save money, while staying in a beautiful boutique hotel.

I have stayed two nights at this hotel and it totally ruined my Singapore holiday. Only plus point was it was located near MRT but other than that it will be a worse choice to make.
The room is small and not cleaned and smelly too. There were no water bottles inside the room or any water dispenser outside. Though there were few tea bags there were no kettle to boil water. Bed sheets are not clean. The bathroom was filthy and stained in dirt. The worse part of stay is beds were full with bed bugs. Both nights we stayed sleepless and even complained receptionist was not bothered. Breakfast was arranged in basement and area was smelly. There were no choice and it feel uppish to eat with uncleaned environment.
Try as much as possible to avoid this hotel if you want to enjoy SIN.

We are Titanium Marriott Members, and Marriott should immediately remove this hotel from their brand. Upon check in we were told we were upgraded. My family of four arrived to the room and immediately turned back around to request a new room.
We were placed in a room with a King size bunk bed! When we booked the room we booked two king beds and we were never told it was bunk beds. When we booked the room pictures and descriptions were not available yet from Marriott since a new property. I asked for a new room without bunk beds and was told every room was bunk beds and they were the only Marriott property with bunk beds. How could a family of four (two teenagers) sleep in this room! My children bonked their heads on the ceiling!
There was no closet, no luggage rack, no drawers, and no place to sit! We had to stack our suitcases on top of each other because the room was so incredibly small. We could not all stand in the room at the same time! The room is smaller than a room on a cruise ship! You could only watch TV lying on the bottom bunk (no view from the top bunk and no chair to sit in).
The bathroom was so small that your shoulders touched the wall on both sides when you sat on the toilet. The toilet paper was loosely placed on the toilet tank since there was no room for a toilet paper holder. The trash can was placed in front of the toilet and sin, so always in your way. The shower was claustrophobic. Only one person could stand in the bathroom at a time. Plus the bathroom doorknob fell on my foot when I opened the door and bruised my foot.
Elevator was small, lobby was ridiculously small, and this hotel is not built to accommodate a family or any one with mobility issues (small rooms and bathrooms and bunkbeds).
We asked to cancel our second night (under a separate reservation) and the hotel absolutely refused to. We now have to work with Marriott to have the stay refunded and they are stating that the Manager of the Hotel decides! I asked to speak to the Manager and the person working the front desk said she was the manager, which I don't believe she was.
Also- they are still under construction- restaurant is being worked on and they are clearly not ready for guests!
The only positive thing to say is this hotel is by a mall with a lot of restaurants and shopping.
False advertising by Marriott, the smallest rooms with bunk beds in the Marriot portfolio, and completely overpriced! Stay anywhere in Singapore but here!

One of the best hotel I’ve ever stayed it Singapore! The Serangoon House is a luxurious Boutique hotel in the very Centre of Singapore, with walking distance to MRT, many restaurants and stores. The room is a bit small but very well organized with everything you’ll need, and I have to say that this is the first time I’ve ever seen a King size bunk bed in my life. All staff members are very friendly and considerate, they kindly welcome us every time they met us. One of the highlights of our stay is the breakfast, we tried many different dishes and they are all AWESOME! Fresh ingredients and very flavorful, and you have to try the Indian menu! Some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had. It’s definitely a very unique hotel, that I recommend of trying if you visit singapore :)

Location OK for Little India and transport close by. There were 14 of us booked into 7 rooms, did not look at this hotel in advance, big mistake, read reviews and negative comments are very accurate.
The hotel is tiny, beyond small, smallest reception area I have seen in a Marriott branded hotel, one very small lift, restaurant in basement and charged $50 Singapore dollars for breakfast, better and much cheaper options nearby.
Room was tiny no storage and made worse by a ridiculous bunk bed, as others said bumped my head on at least 5 occasions (see picture).
Paid nearly £250 a night here I feel cheated.
The very few staff we interacted with were helpful the size of the hotel and price is not their fault, if I had been travelling with x2 children and the room cost was under £100 I might have been a little happier but not much.

Great stay. We were able to check-in early which was very much appreciated since we had just gotten off a LONG flight. The room is indeed on the small side but since we travel light, it was not an issue and we managed to unpack our stuff and make ourselves at home. I can understand however that if you have huge suitcases the layout of the room can be an issue. There was a refrigerator, a Nespresso machine and a kettle. The TV selection was pretty good. The Wi-Fi was fast and reliable. The bathroom was spacious and we very much appreciated the full-size shampoo, soap, conditionner and body lotion bottles. So much waste goes in those tiny bottles...
The location was outstanding : in Little India just a couple of minutes away from a metro station. There are plenty of places to eat around if you are like us and love street/hawker food.
In conclusion, a great stay. Yes, the room was pricey but this is Singapore...

This hotel is quite bad. It is the cheapest Bonvoy option in Singapore and I suspected it would be more interesting in design than the Courtyard where I stayed a few weeks ago. Actually Serangoon House could never be a Design Hotel, because the design is about as bad as I have ever seen. To call this a “junior suite” upgrade is an insult to the name junior suite. As soon as entering the room I had the top of the bunk bed at eye level which immediately gave a feeling of clutter. The TV was utterly useless. I mean it. There was no couch, no chair with back support, and if watching TV from the bottom part of the bed you only see half of the screen. If watching from the top part of the bed, you don’t see anything at all. Reaching the window side of the room required sneaking between the bed and the wall which was very tight to begin with and the TV was in the way. So the room would be better off without a TV because you can only listen to it (not watch it) so why not a small radio instead? The bathroom materials were good quality, but once again bad design. There was no toilet paper fixture, because they probably realized there was nowhere to install it because guests would invariably knock themselves on it. So they went without. But if you sit on the toilet your feet are blocked by the vanity so you need to sit cross side and pretty much have the chin on the cabinet. LOL There was no closet in the room, only two hooks but they were about to come off the wall and it was not the only sign of wear & tear in the room. The only good thing I could say is the bed was comfortable and I could sleep well but only until 7am because they gave me a room on the second floor and there was a lot of banging noise in the street.
Breakfast was equally bad. It was a windowless room in the basement and cramped like the rest of the hotel with servers banging my chair on occasion. To make matters worse, the design of that breakfast room was somewhat creepy and gloomy. The good news is that there was na a la carte menu (no buffet), but what menu? The fruit plate was as unimaginative as can be for hotel fruits, and the aloo paratha should not be called a “main dish”. It was similar naming convention inflation as for the room type. If I had pay 50 SGD for this breakfast I would be upset; even as the Platinum free breakfast it was quite weak.
Staff were nice but for me the problem was pretty much everything else. I would not return solo because of the room design and bunk bed which make no sense if alone. And for a family stay I would not come here either despite the bunk bed. Believe it or not, my room type was eligible to book for 4 adults. Jesus.
For a modest extra price there is Aloft Novena and Courtyard Novena, there is no doubt in my mind that I would pick these two over Serangoon any time.

This boutique hotel is remarkably beautiful and being a Platinum member @ Marriott Bonvoy , I had the privilege to be upgraded to Maharajah suite. The suite is spacious , lovely King size bed adorned with gold trimmings which is unique and the bathroom with green marble complements the overall suite. Had a pleasant welcome by the front desk staff Mr Luke who is friendly and gives good insight about the hotel . Very interesting to know this property is only one(1) year old and the owner has decorated the hotel in a unique tasteful design. Breakfast is nice with a choice of continental/International or Indian served in colourful sofas which is good to perk up my morning. Overall I am satisfied with my stay here and will be returning soon to Serangoon House .
