A must visit iconic hotel that lives up to its historical and first class reputation. Quiet, restful stay with the best sleep for a long time. The welcome, personalised check in and in room check out added to the exceptional experience. Recommend the historical tour if you have the time.
I was like a kid in a candy store when it came to selecting a 5 star hotel in Singapore. Since I couldn't choose where to stay, we decided to go hotel-hopping. We stayed at the spacious Westin, the modern JW Marriott, the Grand Hyatt in the middle of shopping paradise, the swanky St. Regis, the relaxed W Sentosa Resort, and the iconic Raffles Hotel. We enjoyed each of our visit and all of the hotels will be reviewed separately. However, I'm glad we saved the best for last. From the moment we pulled up to the gravelly driveway, we immediately felt welcomed and were made to be at home. Starting from the stately doormen to our graceful butlers to the boutique, everyone treated us with kindness and warmth. It is no wonder that this establishment is a class above the rest. I love the Italian marble and lush greeneries throughout the property. It is a serene oasis within a bustling city. The elegant suite is the best of both worlds, imparting a sense of history with the state of the art comfort. This hotel was closed for nearly 2 years for a complete transformation. No expense was spared and it shows. Breakfast at the elegant Tiffin room was indulgent with delicious local offerings. On the second day, we sat outdoors with the view of a historical fountain. The whole place seems to exude a sense of understated luxury, however, it is their hospitality which sets them apart. We would like to recognize the following staff members for going the extra mile. Joy, Gwendolyn, Rina in the reservations team Harpreet (Happy) & Amir at the door to welcome us each time Anwar at the lobby and for pictures Rie, Cheryl, Yujun, and Thyra - our dedicated Butlers Nadia the Concierge for arranging our in-room ART Test Nazir the Historian for a fabulous and educational tour Ludeth, Joshua, and Kelly at the Tiffin Room Akira and Jiyeon at the Reception Alphonsus, Liana, and Michelle at the Raffles Boutique for an exquisite shopping experience. Thank all of you for making our stay a memorable one. We shall return!…
-Staff messed up our booking. -Doorman try to stop me to enter even I'm carrying my luggage on my hand -staff only try to assist on baggage after we carry everything to the entrance. -Doorman was eyeing on my after 3 -4 staffs confirm I have a reservation. -2 different staffs called a few days before check-in but both forgotten and late to send out the email. -Staff came into my room immediately after ring the door bell and deliver birthday cake without cover. -Staff did not tell me there is a free heritage tour for all hotel guests. -Staff forgotten the birthday decoration after we change the room. -Butler deliver kueh without cover at the evening. -No phone, emergency button and air conditional in the gym, nothing change after 2 calls, went down to complaint to the lobby manager and have to request a fan from her. -Bad soundproof in the room that we had. We are really not happy to paid SGD 1047 to stay with the bad services, even 3 stars hotels can offer better services.…
A beautiful and historic hotel combined with staff that put people first made our stay memorable. To start, we were greeted by the iconic doorman and subsequently another person to help up with our bags. Upfront, this already made us feel very welcome. Once inside, we were in awe at the beauty of the hotel, seeing it in person is indeed better than in pictures. The quaintess was heartwarming to say the least. When we got to our room near the Bras Basah wing, we were taken by the big space together with it's beautiful classic interior design. We were very happy to know that this will be our place to stay for almost a week. We stayed near the library and had a pleasant walk along there as well. We didn't expect much of the breakfast but it was a lot lot better than expected. The Raffles Signature Omelette is a must try and gave us something to look forward to every morning. We got to meet some of the staff and EJ was really accomodating to us and made sure we are taken care of. A subtle thing that made me really happy was the little story cards that the house keeping staff left every afternoon that they cleaned. I really enjoyed reading them that day before I went to bed and was such a nice touch to our stay! We also enjoyed our time at the writers bar drinking and enjoying the ambiance and history of the place. The highlight of our trip was on the last day we were having breakfast, there was this man in a suit talking to guests, and once he got to us, he said his name was Leslie and that he had been working at Raffles for 50 years! He mentioned that he is now Resident Historian and answered all my questions about the hotel and also was nice enough to accompany us to get a picture and his book signed. Overall, our stay was amazing and to quote Leslie Danker: Raflles is truly one of a kind.…
We were welcomed by the staff and shown to our suite. The check in was carried out in our parlour via an ipad. Our butler then showed us how to operate the air con, curtains and lights from the in room ipads - very high tech but convenient. Welcome drinks were provided and any questions about our stay were answered. the suite was perfect, with our balcony overlooking the wonderful gardens. We had made a resevartion for afternoon tea and were very happy with the service and friendly staff, in particular Bernie made us feel at ease. The doorman were always friendly and helpful with directions and local knowledge. Breakfast was to a very high standard and most enjoyable. On one occassion we were lucky enough to meet Mr Leslie danker who has woked at Raffles for 50 years. Leslie is the resident historian and has written two books which relate his memories of the hotel and life in Singapore. (I purchased these from the gift shop). Diana Kelane, one of the concierge team was most helpful in dealing with my various requests. No stay at Raffles or indeed any trip to Singapore is complete without a visit to the Long Bar to sample the famous Singapore gin sling. The refurbished Long bar tastefully preserves the original style, it was busy but we were quickly shown to a table, complete with the required peanuts. A great experience. All in all, our stay was most satisfactory. As you would expect from such a great hotel. It was sad to see that the famous billiard room has now been changed into an italian restaurant but I suppose times move on.…
