We stayed there for 4 nights. huge hotel but small rooms (well it is SG). cannot fault the service - efficient and helpful. good breakfast spread but not the best I had. 5-6 mins away by car to orchard street. Not sure if we will stay there again. Hotel is oldish and needs renovation

My father has stayed regularly at this hotel for over a decade and stays at least annually; and always encourages the family to use the same hotel. Over the years as I have joined in I have noticed a steady decline in quality of service and support relative to other IHG properties, and relative specifically to other IHG properties and Holiday Inns in Singapore. You'd frankly have a better experience at a Holiday Inn Express and you will get more for your money in those accommodations. If you are a regular visitor to Singapore, this is no longer a property where you get value for your money; especially during the Christmas/Holiday season. If you are travelling for the first time, you will again get better value elsewhere. Generally, staying at this location is convenient; however, Singapore is a place with many convenient options, so that really doesn't give it a leg up. The property is heavily dated, and the overall experience in terms of cleanliness, operations, and care for the customer has become equivalent to a 2 star hotel and/or a mass market cruise ship. If your expectations are low, you will be fine. Main callout: If you are a Platinum or above, you will get no special welcome or recognition or experience different from anyone else, and you will be asked to pay extra for a room upgrade even if you have booked the top class of room for a category. You will need to push hard on check-in to get any recognition for your loyalty to the specific hotel, or to IHG, to the point that you'd again, be better served in this respect just staying elsewhere, as the rooms are pretty worn and poor value for your money. If you do not experience this, then the only counterpoint I would add to this is a I am a Black American woman, so you can infer what is obvious from the below in that case. I literally grew up in Singapore and travel there regularly and I travel around the world regularly; the experience I had below is the kind to cement this hotel in particularly is well below the bar of what hospitable means. Separately, I experienced a number of issues of both integrity and disorganization: - In advance of my trip, I booked a mix of points and cash. I wrote the hotel multiple times to clarify my reservation as I noticed a duplicate booking in the system and they updated and clarified that we were all set and asked me to confirm my arrival time since I was arriving Dec 24 early in the AM. The staff SPECIFICALLY pushed me to ADD an additional night to the start of my stay to "guarantee" a room for me (aka, they upsold me on an extra night's fee.) Given it was the holiday season I just went with it, but the ask was a secondary reservation on top of my original one, from their end. - I arrived at around 8 AM on checkin; there were no bellman at the station; they had 1 bellman trying to check guests in and no one else to help. It's certainly not the middle of the night and other hotels would definitely have had more staffers on the ground to assist, especially in December, the busiest and most lucrative time of the year. There was a line at the IHG Elite counter; the single staffer who finally appeared at the Elite counter who met me was pleasant but as I began to engage with her, she told me that 1. yes they had an UPGRADED ROOM available which had already been arranged and 2. IT WAS NOT AVAILABLE YET and I would need to sit and wait for it. Given that I had been expressly told to prepay for a room to support my early arrival, this felt to me dishonest, and signified they had clearly over booked and not held the room for me as indicated. I had a lengthy conversation to reverify that the room was actually an upgrade; multiple times the staffer confirmed that the room type was a "high floor city view" and I said, but "But I PAID / SELECTED a high floor city view, that is not an upgrade, that is what I already selected." And she insisted that the room had been upgraded from that room type. I asked to confirm if I was upgraded to a Club room floor, she said no that would require me to pay extra to receive benefits on that floor, but my room was "UPGRADED." I pushed for what benefits I could get since she was saying the other room type had to be paid for, which I found very odd, and as a concession she finally offered me daily breakfast (which, if you read the rest of this, you realize should have been offered from the beginning, not after me begging to get some recognition for my status). - Somewhere after 11 AM, I got my key, went to the room, and of course, the room was not upgraded. It was exactly what I had paid for. There was also a hair on the sheets and the room was in the unupdated part of the hotel (brown and white tile in the bathroom, older beds). - I went back downstairs to deal with the same staffer. She was dismissive in the polite way that basically demonstrated to me they knew exactly what they were doing with guests and the owners of the hotel have NO intention of honoring upgrades for elite members. I asked her why she told me the room was upgraded when it was not; I reinforced that my notes and account and status showed I should be upgraded; she then requested that I furnish proof. I handed her my original printout of my reservation (you should always have this!) and I literally pulled out my phone and showed her the conversation over email with her superiors/fellow staff acknowledging my reservation dates, original category booking of the room, and the promise (owed to all elite members) that available upgrades would be confirmed on check-in (aka, a commitment to CHECK on checkin for an available upgrade -- which she had refused to do, and instead lied to me telling me that the room WAS already upgraded). FINALLY after this she was willing to look for upgrade options. I found this HUGELY deceitful and disrespectful because I had just gotten off a plane for 20+ hours, gone through customs, waited in a lobby for hours, only to have her only NOW take me seriously. I can see playing these games (though totally inappropriate) for a points only stay, but I had paid points AND cash, so there really was no justification for any of this bad behavior. - At which point she had the gall to tell me "There are no available upgrade rooms available for the full dates of your stay, there is only one room available toward the end of your stay so you wouldn't want to take that." At which point I stopped her and said, yes I would, since I have elite status, so please arrange it. I The above alone was infuriating and offensive. Add to that the poor dingy quarters, poor lighting, old television systems without proper streaming, lack of power outlets and international power outlets, the poorly functioning aircon, hugely outdated bathrooms, you are going to get so much more elsewhere. Meals: Abysmal quality of the main atrium restaurant (for breakfast/lunch), which has queues for 2 hours before every meal (you should use the appointment system or arrive before 8 AM to actually enjoy your meal without crowding/mayhem/piles of dirty dishes around you), limited seating, unkempt and not clean (look at the floors). Location: You now have Havelock station right outside, and a nearby shopping center. And 2 nearby hawker centers. But there are more conveniently located places with more things to do at more convenient hours elsewhere. And the hotel is attached to a mini shopping center with a mini mart and random businesses, but what they're really known for are "hostesses" -- who are deliberately targeting male tourists and drape the halls looking for them if you walk through after 6 pm. All of which just cements the nature of the quality of the hotel experience. You might as well be staying attached to Sheraton Towers.

Don't have high expectations about the hotel, standard quality... The location of the hotel is far from the center. If you consider the taxi prices in Singapore, you will have to pay quite a bit of taxi fare to get to the hotel.

A dated hotel badly in need of refurbishment, I've stayed here before and have seen the deterioration over time. Service overall is good and staff courtesy is just about passable - as if they're just doing their job. There are much better hotels close to the area offering better value for money.

The design of this hotel with the Atrium and glass elevators is always a buzz and a pleasure to visit. The staff on reception and bell boys are always wonderfully friendly and helpful. The rooms are well equipped and quite modern, though I feel it’s almost time for a refurbishment. In enjoyed the bar and restaurant on the ground floor as the main one is only halal. But the bar was quiet and the staff great so it suited me fine. The only thing that bothered me was the air conditioning in my room had a musty smell. This needs to be attended to and fixed.

I had stayed in this hotel prior to Covid and it was a good enough hotel in a good location. However, they downgraded my king room to a queen room. My recent stay I had the same experience except I was told i was getting an upgrade to the executive level. It turns out I got a smaller room without access to the executive level lounge. Upgrade? The breakfast buffet was not as nice either. The positive is nothing went wrong and the location is very close to shopping, restaurants and next to MRT station
