I stayed for 5 nights with my family. That was the first time I experienced the electricity turned off in the hotel.. it was 4-5 hours long in the middle of the night and happened on 2 days in a row..fortunately we booked the bisggest room in the hotel, so we didn’t feel stuffy. There was an announcement letter written on the table, and emergency lamp was provided, but I think they should not take any customers on that particular day.

York Hotel is centrally located in Orchard and a stone's throw from easy access to public transport. There is an elevated walk back to the hotel though and requires a little effort with the climb especially at the end of the day with loads of shopping on both hands - Lols. Otherwise, this hotel is quite a gem located centrally to all the malls. It does not have all the modern fanfare, but suffice for a comfortable and relatively quiet stay for the 4 days we were in Singapore. We did notice one distinct group of guests that frequent this hotel ... Indonesians I believe. They were everywhere in this hotel.
On the whole, YES, I would strongly recommend this to any travellers who is looking for a comfortable, conveniently located, clean and reasonably priced hotel stay.

The Penang Hawkers’ Fare is a quarterly event for about 2 weeks each time. Available for lunch and dinner.
If you make a reservation, you will have to pay at the time of making the reservation. You can also just walk in and join the queue. It was very busy on a Sunday night.

A nice hotel located behind the Orchard Road belt of Singapore. Rooms very airy and in nice decor. Rooms were kept clean and had ample amenities in the toilet. Room service was pretty fast and their nasi goreng was delicious to the last bite. Overall a great place to stay.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The buffet breakfast is a great option and good value for money. This is our second stay at this hotel and we would definitely stay again. It is in a convenient location with the Newton Circus hawker centre just a 15 min walk away.

The room was very big but it needed a renovation with cracks in every corner of bathroom, pile off wallpaper, hole on the curtain and smelly fridge. The room was not very soundproof too. However, their room price was very good with the room size and the internet was very fast. They provided 2 of 1.5 liters of water bottles everyday which was nice. Location was a walking distance to Paragon, Mount Elizabeth Hospital and Orchard Road. But there was nothing else around the hotel but residentials.

We stayed in York Hotel last June 15 to 18. We chose this mainly because of the location. It was near Orchard but without the usual "busy-ness" of Orchard area.
Staff are great.
Restaurant food was delicious however our server were not able to discuss to us how big the servings really were. The good thing about it was when we saw the huge servings we were able to cancel some of the orders. :)

I stayed couple of days in this hotel recently. I have stayed in this hotel couple of years before as well.
The hotel is situated in a convenient location. Very close to the Orchard road and easily accessible to public transport etc., yet it is situated in a quiet street next to Mt. Elizabeth Hospital which is very good. The hotel is accessible via Scotts road which is also a major road in the Central Region.
Some of the hotel staff members, the house keeping people, doormen, and restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. However, the reception area and hotel front officers were not very friendly, and not very keen on helping as well.
Relatively to many hotels in the area, the rooms in the hotel are larger and more spacious.
Buffet breakfast was not very big, but had a decent number of options. Considering the very economical price tag, I think the buffet is good. One thing I noticed about the buffet is that, in my stay, almost every day they had similar dishes, and not much variety among days. Since I was a business traveler and didn't have much time to focus on food, apart from what I ate, I was ok, but for a leisure traveler this may be a problem.
The biggest drawback of this hotel was the cleanliness. I had highlighted this same issue in a review I made few years back, but I can't see an improvement in that sector. The rusty old rooms were the same and I saw fungus in bathroom and surrounding. There were huge mold spots grew around vents, toilet and the sink. It is not expected to see such unclean rooms in an establishment like this in a premier location.
I think the direct booking site can also be improved to give a better user experience.
However, for the low price they charge, in this area, I think this is a good place to stay, considering the proximity to many important locations.

Great value hotel, excellent location, HUGE family room, great service, happily come back again.
For the price we paid this is an excellent value hotel. We booked a family room of 2 double beds and the room is huge (see picture!) probably the biggest family room we’ve ever had - were used the the second bed being a sofa bed but these are 2 huge superking beds and then a lot of room as well, for a table and 2 chairs, tons of floor space for kids to spread our their games on, a big bathroom with 2 sinks. Yes, it’s not the most modern of rooms but it’s still really good and was clean throughout.
The location is so central, we didn’t bother with the hotel breakfast as just 5 mins down the road is Paragon shopping centre which has a heap of restaurants and then a bit further on Orchard Road. So convenient.
The kids also loved the pool and it was really refreshing way to spend a couple of hours after being in the humidity of Singapore.
We only needed help from staff a couple of times but they were so polite and helpful and check in was also very efficient, and the staff who helped us with our luggage right up to our room was also very helpful and polite. Thank you!
All in all we loved our stay and would happily choose this hotel again for our next stay.

Very old hotel on Mt E, which is clear from how drab the room is. While it was a short walk to Paragon/Orchard Road, which made it a very convenient location, the room was not clean. There were small bugs in the bathroom, and someone's used double-eyelid tape was stuck on the bathroom wall. Came back one day and saw a towel placed haphazardly (not folded neatly) on the bedside- not sure if they used that to clean the bedside table, or if they just forgot to fold it and place it in the bathroom. Needed to ask for more towels as only 2 big towels were provided on check-in, and no hair towel or hand towel. Also asked for a pair of chopsticks from reception when I ordered deliveroo, and it took them 30min to bring the chopsticks up– reception was also very brusque when I requested this.

Yes, you have to booked in advance, before using the Pool
What I can remember the family room we stayed in. They were large single beds
Frankly, the Kitchen is Not Halal certified. But you can have your breakfast of Bread & Butter, Cereals, Coffee or Tea, boiled or half-boiled eggs, fruits, fresh juices. These are usually not prepare with Non Halal foods. There other alternatives is you can take a 4 minutes walk to Far East Plaza, where there are many shops which are Halal Certified you can have your breakfast, such as Perata, Nasi Lemak etc..
Not sure but everything is close in a taxi. Or download the grab app. It’s Uber in Singapore they very good and cheaper than taxis.
